Fate/Inspired

What happens when a teensy bit odd but highly inspired inventor wakes up in the body of a teenager, in a magical world FULL of opportunity and adventure? Yes, opportunity and adventure, not insects, gods, daemons, people with raging boners for human experimentation and uh... the usual priest with basement full of you-know-whats. Maybe Shinji Matou wasn't the ideal starter pack for him but he was going to Tony Stark his way through it all the same! Who needed magic anyway when you could build a cool mech? He definitely wasn't stingy about the atrophied magical circuits, nope, not at all. - Fair warning, the MC is kind of a dick.

A Sad Day

Yakuza work really fast apparently... You'd think they didn't have a continuous 5 year long war less than a decade ago.

Raiga was a cool old dude, with a strange obsession with motorbikes.

Being the benevolent person I am, I tweaked it to be louder and move a lot faster than before to earn some free brownie points since I had nothing else to do anyway. I definitely wasn't cautious about not getting along with the gang that ruled the criminal underworld of this city.

My flight to Europe is next week, according to my handy AI who booked it.

It could've been sooner but I don't want to enter the home territory of both the Mage's Association and the Holy Church without a bit of personal backup.

Tiamat is fine and all but even as a mad scientist, I am still a man, relying on someone else to protect me indefinitely is something I can't bring myself to accept... Though, rest assured, I will never have a problem with having a hot mommy hanging around for as long as I live.

On that note, I need to see about getting to the Sumerian Gods somehow.

Maybe I'll bomb one of their ancient temples?

Food for thought.

Anyway, enough about that.

I'm in Shirou's storehouse, much to his chagrin... or not, I don't think the guy even knows how to say no if you ask him for help.

My wafer system was delivered in the morning by a couple of men in an inconspicuous moving truck and I've been busy installing and modifying it.

And now that that's done, all that's left to do is find the perfect material for what I want... which is going to be Graphene since it's easily found in household items.

I shamelessly dismantled a number of electronics from the Emiya household after throwing a wad of cash in the owner's face... after which I kicked everyone else except Cortana out, I can't have imperfection or interruption.

All that's left is to bring the designs in my head to life.

"Cortana, let's get to it." I spoke with a small grin.

My computer buzzed and hummed in response, "Yes, sir."

Shirou Emiya believed that while Shinji had been a bit too eccentric lately, he was a good person underneath it all... He'd made a suicidal attempt at summoning a literal goddess just to kill the insects that were ruining Sakura's life.

How could anybody who cared for family that much be a bad person?

He pointed out people's flaws bluntly so they could correct themselves but didn't encourage them so they could build strength of character... Shirou had even seen him feed the local crows while laughing about causing a turf war between the local avians or something.

Though, it was a bit tedious to have to keep watch on the goddess he'd summoned.

Shirou wiped a plate with a cloth and put it in the dish rack, "I can see you, Tiamat. Shinji said no interruptions."

"Mmm..." Tiamat opened her mouth to reply but deflated and settled down in the living room, "What if he's in... daanger?"

"He said it was safe."

Since when did inventors have their experiments blow up in their faces?

...Oh wait.

Before he could even turn around, his old storehouse exploded in a strange light, followed by metallic hissing and incoherent shouting.

Tiamat stared at Shirou with what he hoped was sarcasm and not, you know, hate, since making enemies of a Primordial Goddess wasn't the best course of action towards a long and healthy life of helping people.

Even Sakura, who seemed confident in her older brother, was startled.

Strangely enough though, Tiamat, who he'd expected would blow through the wall at the slightest hint of trouble, remained rooted to her spot.

Was she that afraid of disappointing Shinji?

-

Tony Stark?

Richard Reeds?

Doc Brown?

Nah, who is that?

I'm the greatest, I'm the best, I'm motherfucking Shinji Matou.

There is no one who can make better shit than Shinjiberg!

"I am better. I am better!" I raised my hands to the sky in victory, staring at the blaring Sun that was peeking through the corner of the now nonexistent roof.

"That was never a matter of question, sir."

Thank you, Cortana.

The 'experiment' was a massive success, as always.

There was never any doubt to begin with.

I can make whatever I put my mind to.

I'm just that good.

Oh what? This isn't normal? It shouldn't be possible?

Suck on my nano-enhanced balls! That's the kind of brokie mentality that's got you stuck in your mother's basement and afraid of social interactions. All I hear is a bunch of jealous whining from a couple of skill-issue fucks!

...Okay, maybe I'm getting a bit carried away.

YOU THOUGHT! NAH! I AM LITERALLY HIM!

"Shinji! What happened?!"

"Nothing." I flashed the concerned Shinji that had broken in a big smile, "Nothing at all."

"...Alright." The young hero sighed, leaning against the door, "As long as you didn't make a mistake?"

Dear Shirou, are you telling me that injecting highly experimental self-altering nanomachines into my body so that they can latch onto my nerves, multiply and act according to my thoughts was a dangerous mistake?

Because it wasn't, my confidence is supreme and unmatched.

It's what sets me apart from the rest of you rabble... That and my sucidial tendencies.

They're nanomachines that can alter their own structure as needed and morph into whatever I desire. The best part is that the command centre is my own brain.

Hey wait, am I technically a cyborg now?

They can and WILL replicate and enhance bodily structures.

"I don't make mistakes, Shirou." I corrected him, "Everything is always according to plan. Our neighbour's wife cheating on him with the mailman is also according to my plan."

"The neighbour's wife is cheating on him?"

That's the part you're latching on to?

"Oh yeah, I caught them this morning." I shrugged, "You Japanese are weird about the whole fidelity thing, man."

How is cheating a part of your culture?

That's messed up.

The ginger shota narrowed his eyes, "What do you mean 'you Japanese'? Did you hurt your head?"

"Haha, jokes on you, I'm Russian." I laughed in his face, nudging my PC with my elbow.

"I will confirm that. My father's ancestry is Russian."

"And that's supposed to be better?"

Dear Shirou, stop being racist.

It's only cool when I do it.

After a small moment of silence, I tilted my head in slight confusion and gestured to our ruined surroundings, "You're not gonna ask about this?"

Even the system I used to make them blew up, though that was mostly because I was thinking about how it'd be cool if it blew up as soon as I was done... My genius is frightening and mysterious in ways man can not understand.

"Not really..."

Pause.

Shirou flashed me a smile worthy of the main character trying to reform the villain, "I trust you."

Bro...no.

I'm not some heroine or teenager for you to be rizzing up.

I am Shinjiberg, the part time Lord of a Crack Empire and full time Mad Scientist.

So, I did the manliest thing possible, I ignored him completely and went back to the PC I moved here.

"You don't have to be embarrassed, Shinji." Shirou chuckled and walked away.

"Shut up, go away."

It was evening when I found myself back in the living room, sitting at the same goddamn table that I have come to loathe with all my being, while watching a strange shrapnel-like mass smoothly hover above my hand, it's form fluctuating like it was liquid.

What the fuck is a spell?

Sci-fi technology all the way.

Though, I will admit that I find it a bit hurtful how nobody in this household has even bothered to ask me about this... I even have to resort to showing off like this.

Truly, a sad day for mankind as a whole.

With a thought, it took the shape of a handgun and with another, it took the shape of a letter opener... This is the coolest shit I've seen to date and nobody seems even slightly interested.

Even Tiamat is just staring with those starry eyes of hers while Sakura seems... well she just looked confused.

The machines seemed to sense my feelings and deflated, funnelling back into my bloodstream through the pores in the skin.

"Your design was splendid, sir." Cortana buzzed monotonously, "I would not have been able to design the blueprints with my level of information and thought."

Dear Cortana, I know you're trying to console me and that's cool but... it's just making me want to cry.

Also, stop fluctuating between father and sir.

It's weird.

"You can call me whatever you want." I sighed.

The sentient AI seemed stumped for a moment and paused entirely before my phone hummed, "Then... father... Thank you."

Aww... at least I have her.

I need new friends.

"Shirou, I'm replacing you."

"...You're what?" Shirou peered over at me from his winter vacation homework the fucking nerd... Who does that stuff anyway?

Hope you enjoyed.
