Ω

In a forest that was an enchanted place, where the trees stood like sentinels guarding the secrets of the earth. The sunlight danced through the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the forest floor. The birds sang their sweet songs, and the rustle of the wind in the branches sounded like the whispering of the trees. It was a place where magic was alive, where anything could happen.

It was in this place, at Mount Pelion, slightly above the Home of Chiron that a black magic circle spun into existence. It's black like the starry sky filled with secrets of the universe and little runes dancing upon it's rims that a man appeared.

The living world welcomed Icarus back.

It was this reason that Icarus was feeling mentally exhausted. Really, how would you feel having a heated argument with the goddess of wisdom and the other goddess in the room just sitting back and watching as the drama unfolds?

It was the byproduct of this that Icarus' eye twitched with aggravation as he sensed another life form with him. Now, it won't be a problem if the life form was an animal, beast or even a fae but nope. It is a human. A human who's spying him right now.

Icarus pinched his nose and took a deep breath.

"You can come out now. I already know you're there." He tried to coax his spy-er to come out. Only to no avail.

Silence greeted him.

His frustration and lingering anger at Athena made him just want to murder that human and call it a day.

~snap~

Icarus snapped his fingers as the tree swayed before him. Roots of trees, vines and flowers grew out and slighter like snakes at the life energy—a familiar one at that— he had sensed.

A scream and a squeak later, the roots came back with a human adult covered in roots like bondage. Restraining him like he's a caterpillar.

Icarus easily recognized the face of his spy-er.

"Krilin. What are you doing here?" That's a useless question. Icarus knows but he wanted to hear it from Krilin himself.

He stammered, "Your majest— Icarus! How are you? I didn't know you were in town!" Krilin faked enthusiasm and said.

Dear god. Should I sacrifice him to the Outer Gods?

Icarus pushed his thoughts away with practical ease and said. "You didn't answer my question, Krilin."

"You know how we bards are. Travelling around, regaling stories and singing. You know, the usual."

Icarus hummed with interest. "Oho? Then you were not following me?"

Krilin shook his head and denied his claims firmly, "Nada, nay, rejected!"

Icarus sensed the lie from a mile away. With his Mystic Eyes, forget about lying to him, even your soul is not safe from him.

But he did not out him yet.

"Then you wouldn't mind if I borrow your scroll?" With a little bit of psionic mind power, the scroll delivered itself— technically— in my waiting palms.

"I-icarus. T-there's, uh.. some important stuff in there." Krilin's face was flushed red when he said that.

Icarus barely paid him any attention, "Who told you I'll be here anywhere?"

"U-uh. The three faced goddess."

"Good riddance." Icarus didn't comment on how Krillin all but confessed that he was stalking him.

He opened the scroll and with his speed reading ability, he finished reading the entire scroll in two heartbeats.

Icarus reframed from sighing again.

It is as he feared. Some nut job—Krilin, who else?— had gone and tried to document his 'legend'. Icarus wasn't that naive to believe that people won't. But he hoped that that would happen far in the future. Like when he became famous enough for people to pay him attention, not at the start of his journey goddamnit!

Now, Icarus was stuck in a dilemma. Should he destroy this scroll? After all, Icarus doesn't want to be a heroic spirit or some slave. So, it's a given that he should destroy it.

But what's the use? Krilin already told people of his 'legend', and the Throne Of Heroes collects heroes from all timelines and timeframes. Either past, present or the future. His legend may already be starting to crystallise.

If he truly wants to avoid being a slave, he has to mind clean all the people Krilin told of him. Which… is nothing short of impossible.

His magical energy that he has always clamped down with fine control was slipping out. The ground cracked as his hair fluttered in the wind generated by his magical pressure.

He looked towards Krilin, only to find him passed out. His magic—Od?— was impressive for his age and race. His magical pressure is gigantic if he truly wished to release all of it. He won't be surprised if he killed all mortals that call this place home. He can level an island with nothing but his magical pressure.

Nonetheless, he's faced with a problem.

"Ah.." Icarus blew a sigh, no longer able to hold it in.

'Ah, fuck. I'll go back to the past and burn this shit into ashes before Krilin tells people my stories.'

His vines and roots slowly descended on the ground and released Krilin from their grasps.

'Oh, and kill him too.' Icarus reminded himself distantly.

Icarus turned around and walked down the mountain. But as he did so, his psionic powers alerted him of another person spying on him.

Icarus was this close. This close from fucking it all and start torturing everyone that come his way.

He will flay them! Gut their genitals with a spoon! Burn their families in front of them! Fuck them! Rape! Curse! Starvation! Blindness! Dragging them on a horse! Stomp them to the ground! Poop their eye—

'Deep breaths, Icarus.'

Icarus breathed in deeply. He stood I'm place as he gathered himself.

Using the Necronomicon is dangerous. Something that he knew but still used it.

One of its after effects was him slowly losing grip on reality. His mind is slowly deteriorating. It's dark, miasmic powers influence him to a deeper degree he doesn't like to agree on. It's slowly corrupting his mind, it's Darkhold to my Scarlet Witch.

'fuck.'

"Right, get to Chiron and get the fuck out of here." Icarus murmured to himself.

He wants information. Something that he knows Chiron may have. Why didn't you just ask your goddesses, Icarus? you may ask. Apparently, the people who gave you a quest aren't allowed to give you information. You must find that by yourself.

That's why he's here. On Mount Pelion.

Truly, a gr—

"H-hello?" A squeaky voice interrupted his thoughts.

Icarus frowned, "Yes?" He answered the blonde boy before him.

"I-i heard you talking about Master Chiron. Are you going to him?" The blonde boy said.

'master Chiron?' Icarus wondered. 'Then he must be Chiron student.'

"Yes. But what of it?" Icarus said, already getting annoyed.

The blonde boy flinched back. Sensing the killing intent that Icarus was projecting.

"I-im his student. I-i can take you to him."

Poor thing. Icarus almost felt sorry for him. Almost.

"Oho? Then by all means," Icarus gestured to the boy to take the lead. "What's your name, boy?"

The blonde boy looked affronted by being called a boy.

Icarus waved at him placately and chuckled.

"I'm Jason." The boy said.

Icarus raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Jason? As in Jason, the prince of [City Name] ?" Icarus questioned, hiding the giddy undertone by inquiring indifferently.

The boy hesitated then said, "Yes. Although I'm no longer a prince." He whispered the last part as if he didn't want him to hear. Unfortunately, with his eyes, he can hear in another dimension too. So, tough luck on that.

"Ah. I'm Icarus of Athens. I.. was a Prince too. Before getting chased out of the city." I sympathised. I was no prince and I'll never be one. But… just for this conversation, he'll prevent he's a prince.

Jason gazed at him with wide eyes. And —Icarus tried not to laugh— he saw the boy's body language relax and he saw his eyes hold warmth that wasn't there previously.

"R-really? I was chased out too!" He gushed. Like a fanboy meeting his/her role model.

Icarus nodded in sympathy. "I know the pain all too well. I naively thought no one would experience what I experienced as it's painful."

Jason nodded, his mood crushing down with a hint of melancholy.

Icarus reached and clasped his hand on the boy's shoulder. "Don't worry, Jason. I'm sure you're like me, right? You have a plan to take your rightful place, right?" Icarus said encouragely.

Jason nodded, determination shining in his eyes.

"Hey, how about this. Since I'm the older one here and more experienced. I'll be your teacher and teach you how to be King and a leader. How does that sound?" Icarus shared his 'idea' with Jason.

"Whoa! Really? Thanks man!" Jason excitedly said. "But I-"

Icarus interrupted him softly. "Don't worry. I won't take Chiron's place. He is and will be your master. I'm just your teacher having things in common. You'll be my toy— student. Yes, student." Icarus chocked the toy word down.

Jason's eyes regarded me softly. "Thanks, Icarus."

Icarus didn't mention how Jason's eyes are watery. He only one arm hug him. He turned his head to the opposite side of Jason….

Hiding the giant, evil smirk on his face. His inner self crackled crazy.

Icarus once lived in the 21 century. He lived in the Information Age. Where almost all information can be accessed by a touch of a button/tap. How much of an idiot will he be if he can't manipulate someone by just sharing certain information about himself? Hmph.

And just like that. He changed his social standing in Jason's mind, subconsciously or consciously. From Stranger to peers then to friends, to being his teacher.

He really should thank how people in ancient Greece are dumb.
