Family of the Sunflower

Ever since Alektrona watched a movie about faeries, she always believed in supernaturals. When people told her there are no such things as supernatural, she always replied, "If there are no such things as supernaturals, where did the myths and legends come from? Imagination? Hallucination? I don't know! But I would love to know and meet one," She says it with a bright smile but, once she meets their confused gaze, she looks back at them with the same confusion as them. "I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who believes in spirits and faeries... right...? " And look at them expectation in her eyes. Her answer makes others fall speechless apart from her grandmother, who loves Greek mythology. Although Alek believes in the existence of supernaturals, she's never encountered one. God knows how many books she's read about Supernaturals. Alek talked to everything she sees and asks them, "When will you guys finally show up to me and start a conversation? I wouldn't tell anybody! I just want to meet you guys so that I couldn't die happily. So I'll be here, waiting for you guys to show up and talk to me." *********** Alek sneakily entered the room and was greeted by a boy facing toward the window opposite the door that she just entered. She thought he was Kai. She prepared to scare him. But before she tried to do anything, he snapped his neck to where she was standing. She was caught off guard. But what she saw next was enough for her brain to stop functioning. "What the..." Alek could not continue. The boy looked like her dead brother, Aether. *********** "They are not friendly, especially the Shiwasu." Astraea told her niece. "If you can't prove that you are able to replace her, then we are all doomed." Everyone was listening to her with serious faces, even the youngest looked like she knew that would be the end. "I will prove it." Alek spoke with determination in her eyes. ------------------ This is the story about shape-shifters and some parts are written in Japanese in roman alphabet as this book contains a little bit of Japanese culture and tradition. Vision? Memory?

They all put out their left hands on the table and, Alex took the pictures of them as if he was a pro.

"Folder it to me." Alek told him as she withdrew her hand to drink her juice.

"Me too." Melvin also told his boyfriend and withdrew his hands to take a photo of his ring with his phone.

"No, no." Alec held out his right index finger in front of the. "Now remove the rings. I want to take the rings, ALONE." Then he removed the rings from everyone and took photos. He gave them back in a minute and, they wore it back.

Alek found it weird wearing rings. Mostly because she was not used to wearing one, and also, her family were not much of a fan. Probably the only rings in her house were the ones of her parents, but she was happy that she had this ring.

As she was smiling at the ring, the two boys took a photo of her silently.

When Alek looked up, she saw Melvin smiling at her with his hazel eyes. His blonde hair was reflecting against the sunlight that came from the outside. Plus, he was wearing a white shirt which made him look like an angel. She almost saw a halo and wings from him. She couldn't stop staring at the holy sight.

Secretly, Alex took pictures of his boyfriend in a burst mode and a few for the two of them. No matter how many times he looked at Melvin, he couldn't get enough. He was beautiful, hot, handsome, sexy, all at the same time. Like, damn... his boyfriend should be illegal.

The two of them looked at Alec the same time he had finished taking photos of them. Alec wouldn't miss the opportunity and took a picture of them, looking at him. "Nice one." Alec told them as he was satisfied.

Alek and Melvin looked at each other before pulling out their phones and started taking pictures of Alex. They knew Alex liked taking photos but not himself in it.

Alec quickly hid his face with his arms, but that didn't stop the two of them to get closer to him and take close-up photos. But Melvin was actually recording it rather than taking continuous photos like Alek. Alex's ears and face were turning bright red from embarrassment.

They finally stopped the torture and let Alex breathe in relief after a short while. The two best friends of his were merciless and scary sometimes.

Melvin smiled at the video he just took right now. His boyfriend was desperately covering his face from the cameras and, he looked adorable in it. He then turned to him and kissed lightly on the lips.

Alex was surprised by the action but, he smiled and pecked on his boyfriend's lips back in return.

"Do that when you are alone. Stop hurting my single soul." Alek told them, drinking her melted juice. "You guys make me feel miserable more than ever."

"Stop interrupting us." Melvin told her and kissed his boyfriend back.

"Excuse me?" Alek waved her hands in front of them, knowing it was useless. The couple was into each other and cared about nothing but the other.

Alek sighed and finished the drink in her hands. She pretended like they did not exist in her sight.

Just as when she was getting tired of watching the two kiss, she saw designs that were on the family heirloom was on the table, next to the glass that had her drinks. Then she saw it on the window and on the glass... on the palm of her hands.

She stared at her hands in horror. She crouched her hands and opened it but, it was still there. Alek started breathing like she had a panic attack. Her visions began to get bright even though she closed her eyes. And when the brightness reached its level, she saw something. It was like a vision or memory she had in the past.

It was kind of like a video. There were a woman and a man in it. They were arguing about something, but she couldn't see what was going on the other half as half of her sight was covered in white. As her vision was getting clearer, she also heard voices.

"Panacea!" A man called out the woman in front of him.

"Robin, stop it. You are going to wake up Alek." Her mother told her father in a low voice and, looked at the baby in a small baby-bed, close to them. They actually looked quite young compared to what they look now.

Alek wondered. If the baby in the baby-bed next to them is actually her, then who is listening and hearing them? If this isn't her memory or anything, what is this? What was going on?

Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard her father speak. "My love, I don't believe it."

"I said I don't know, Robin. I've asked my mother, but she didn't answer it." Panacea told him.

"We need to get more information about it. I am not losing my son." Robin held his wife's hands in his.

"But my mother would never lie about anything like that. She said she surely saw it."

"And I refuse to believe it." He told her. "How can she just see the future like that? We are shifters, not witches! She did not see my son die."

"There was a time she predicted and, it became true. She told me the visions just came to her and, she knew that was the future." Panacea sat down on the edge of their bed, opposite the baby. "I don't want to believe it too, Robin. But what if her predictions come true like that time? We don't know the possibility."

Robin sat next to his wife, still holding her hands. "I also don't know if it's going to happen or not but, I hope that it's not real and it is just a nightmare. This can't and will not happen." He leaned on Panacea, who had tears in her eyes.

"How old was he in her vision?" Robin asked after a while of sitting with silence.

"Quite old. Around seven, eight years old." Panacea recalled the memories.

"How?" Robin asked quietly.

"She doesn't know. She only saw him in his blood pool."

"Okay." He replied but, it was mostly air and not voice.

"Alek... Alek... Alek!" Alek's vision disappeared as the voice of someone calling her became louder.

She snapped out and saw Alex holding her shoulders with a worried expression on his face. "Huh?"

"Alek, do you hear me?" Alex asked, still holding her shoulders.

Alek only nodded and looked around herself. She was sitting at the table with a glass in her hands. The sun was the same as before as everything else in the place. The designs were gone too.

"Alektrona!" Alex shouted her name and, she immediately turned her attention back to her best friend in confusion. "What happened?"

"I honestly don't know." Even in this situation, she never forgot to use sign language.

"Tell us what happened?" Melvin asked and, she finally realised he was next to her.

"I... what was I doing?" Alek forgot what happened in a second. She felt like she had a bad daydream but, she couldn't remember what.

"I want to ask you the same thing. When we looked at you after kissing, you looked spiritually gone. And your eyes were a different colour. It was like yellow-orange. It was weird, Alek!" Alec signed so fast.

"Ah..." Something triggered in her mind when she heard what colours of her eyes were but she didn't know what. She didn't know what to say to that since she didn't know what happened. It was like her memory was erased from someone else. But maybe the eye changing can be related to supernatural stuff. "I actually put colour contacts in my eyes, for that matter." Alek lied to her best friends for the first time. "It shows its colour when it gets sunlight for a long time."

Alex and Melvin looked at her suspiciously. They saw her ears and, it was red, indicating that she was lying. But they didn't ask anything further. They knew whatever Alek was hiding was something she wanted to keep to herself. "Are you okay?" Melvin asked.

"Of course! I was just daydreaming. You guys were just so into each other that I got bored." Alek told them playfully, hiding her true emotions.

"You've been acting weird since I met you yesterday? I just want to make sure you are okay." Alec told her as he let go of her and sat down the opposite of her.

"I actually don't know what I was dreaming but, I promise I'm okay." She told with a smile. "An for me being weird is because my cousins are here, staying with us temporarily, which I find really weird. I have not seen them for three years. I mean, aunt and uncle had shown pictures of them through the years but, actually seeing them is not the same. Staying with the twins remind me of the times I had with my brother but, that's not the issue. I'm just not used to having people in our house, other people who already live in it."

"I kind of get that." Melvin nodded. "I get my mum's friend coming to our house for a sleepover and, I find it really uncomfortable and weird."

"Right?!" Alek held Melvin's hand. "I'm not good with communication. I sometimes find it difficult talking with my siblings and, now how can I talk wit my cousins I haven't talked for three years?" She held his hand again after signing.

"I don't know. They are your cousins. Find a way." Alec told her and took his boyfriend next to him. He didn't like the way he had been separated from him.

"I know. I'll try." Alek told them and placed her head on the table like before.
