Family of the Sunflower

Ever since Alektrona watched a movie about faeries, she always believed in supernaturals. When people told her there are no such things as supernatural, she always replied, "If there are no such things as supernaturals, where did the myths and legends come from? Imagination? Hallucination? I don't know! But I would love to know and meet one," She says it with a bright smile but, once she meets their confused gaze, she looks back at them with the same confusion as them. "I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who believes in spirits and faeries... right...? " And look at them expectation in her eyes. Her answer makes others fall speechless apart from her grandmother, who loves Greek mythology. Although Alek believes in the existence of supernaturals, she's never encountered one. God knows how many books she's read about Supernaturals. Alek talked to everything she sees and asks them, "When will you guys finally show up to me and start a conversation? I wouldn't tell anybody! I just want to meet you guys so that I couldn't die happily. So I'll be here, waiting for you guys to show up and talk to me." *********** Alek sneakily entered the room and was greeted by a boy facing toward the window opposite the door that she just entered. She thought he was Kai. She prepared to scare him. But before she tried to do anything, he snapped his neck to where she was standing. She was caught off guard. But what she saw next was enough for her brain to stop functioning. "What the..." Alek could not continue. The boy looked like her dead brother, Aether. *********** "They are not friendly, especially the Shiwasu." Astraea told her niece. "If you can't prove that you are able to replace her, then we are all doomed." Everyone was listening to her with serious faces, even the youngest looked like she knew that would be the end. "I will prove it." Alek spoke with determination in her eyes. ------------------ This is the story about shape-shifters and some parts are written in Japanese in roman alphabet as this book contains a little bit of Japanese culture and tradition. Meeting (1)

"Can't do." Alek replied and turned her attention back at her father. "Dad, I told you I don't want to kill you. Now I want an answer. You knew Aether was going to die but didn't do anything to prevent it. I want an explanation for it." Alek bent down to look at her father straight into his eyes.

Robin stopped breathing when he heard his daughter. His wife had been right all along. She had been telling him that may be a slight chance Alek knows about them knowing about her brother's death.

"What are you talking about? What do you mean he knew about Aether's death?!" Jin was the first one to react when he heard what Alek said.

"I mean what I say. My parents knew about his death long before Bia was born." Alek replied coldly to her cousin without looking at him.

"Is that true?" Bia asked her mother. She had run to her mother when she was thrown to her. Her voice was shaking a little with shining tears in her eyes. "Tell me, mum! Is. It. True?" Bia asked, emphasizing each word she spoke.

"Yes." Panacea spoke in a low voice. Her head was hanging down. She was leaning on the wall that she was thrown. And wasn't coughing like her husband a bit far from her on the ground.

Bia let go of her mother when she heard that. She was shocked to hear that. How were her parents so heartless.

"And you kept hiding this secret for what? For almost seventeen years? I'm beyond sad and angry. I'm amazed by this. How can I be so stupid to trust you with my life? I guess you guys are great actors. You are worth an award for it." Alek crouched down next to her father. "When Kiryuu first attacked you, I hated her because she hurt you. I didn't understand why. But now, I get why she did that. She is right. I would done the same thing. You need to pay for what you did."

"We didn't intend to hide this from all of you. We never wanted Aether to die." Panacea spoke.

"It doesn't matter, mum. You knew he was going to die yet, you didn't do anything." Alek told her mother.

"Let me explain." Panacea continued.

"I would love that." Alek replied to her mother with a smile that didn't reach her eyes.

"We... Your grandmother had a vision when you were little." Panacea told her daughter, looking straight into her eyes. She was panting slightly.

"I know." Alek said and approached her mother. "And I also know you knew Aether was going to die in his blood pool at around seven or eight."

"You do..." She replied from the floor. "Well, I remember that question with your father clearly. I think... you know how the conversation went then."

"I do. What I don't get is that why you had kept this secret from all of us. From what I can see, you didn't tell uncle or aunt, did you? Did Aether know he was going to die?" Alek's voice cracked when she said the last sentence.

"He didn't." Panacea replied, not meeting her gaze any more. "But I told you we never wanted him to die. We looked for ways to avoid the vision. We did."

"I can't believe you didn't tell him. It was his life!" Alek's eyes were now filled with emotions. Anger. Because of anger, her eyes kept on flickering between her beast's and hers. Novah constantly tried to control Alek's beast inside her, but she was just too strong. It was useless.

"Alek, calm down. We can talk about this another time when you are not filled with anger." Minaki stepped towards the angry future head of Minazuki. If he didn't stop her, she would regret what she is about to do now.

"Not now, Mr Nagatsuki." Even though she was filled with anger, she didn't forget to pay respect to the former head. She told him with a shaky voice. She didn't even turn to look at him approaching her.

"I'm sorry, Alek." Panacea told her daughter.

"You shouldn't be saying that to me. Say that to Aether, but you can't because he is already dead!" Alek shouted and, a tear rolled down on her face. From there, Alek lost her sanity. She shifted her arms and hands and slashed the air, sending a wind cutter to her right.

Izumi screamed and froze on the ground when she saw a sharp air cutter coming directly towards her. Junto, who saw this, immediately shielded her and let them fall to the ground before it could reach them. Thankfully, the wind cut where Izumi's neck had been and did not cut them. She froze, looking up to where she was a second ago. She was grateful that someone was there to save her.

"We need to get out of here!" Rin shouted after dodging a chunk of wall that was thrown by Alek.

"Who is going to stop my sister?!" Bia didn't dare to move away from her position. She was still close to her mother and seemed like she was not exactly attacking their parents. She was just vending out her anger on everything that was in her sight. It wouldn't take long before she finds that her mother and sister were still here and may do something inhuman.

"Let her be like this. She can destroy this room. It's not used anyway, but we need to leave. It's dangerous." Minaki told Bia and helped her and his friends off the ground. When he turned around, he saw the twins carrying his other friend.

Somehow, the door banged closed before even one of them could escape her wrath. They looked back to find Alek staring at them. Actually, her parents. She walked to them slowly but surely. There was a tornado in the room out of nowhere and, everything in the room began to fly. Even the roof couldn't hold it and flew up in the sky with force.

"NO!" Izumi cried out and tried to open the door but, it was tightly sealed shut. "What the f*ck?!" She pulled the handle with all her strength but still nothing. She also shifted and tried the same thing but, it didn't even budge. "F*CK!"

"You are not going anywhere." Alek told them without blinking. Her eyes were focused on two figures in front of her. She shifted her arms and prepared to send an air cutter again before she abruptly froze and stared into the air. The wind that was blowing stopped also and dropped everything that was in it. Some of them even dropped on people in the room.

"Let's go!" Izumi shouted when she was finally able to open the door.

"Alek." Kai turned to find his sister frozen. She had not shifted anymore and stared into the air. "Alek?" He called out his sister's name a little louder but didn't get her attention. Instead, he got unexpected attention from his cousins.

"Aether...?" Rin mumbled when he saw his dead cousin in between him and Alek. His cousin was still little because he hadn't grown since the death. He was wearing a white gown over him. His dark brown curly hair twinkled in the light from above; this almost made him look like an angel from heaven.

"What are you talking about?!" Bia shouted towards the twin, who was frozen on the spot.

"Aether..." This time, Jin replied to Bia by pointing where Aether was. Robin had slipped from the backs as they had no strength in them. Lake was there to carry his brother and, he also stared at where his son was pointing but, all he could see was Alek staring into nothing.

"Brother..." Alek mumbled and caught everyone's attention. Her eyes were filled with tears and, it was constantly streaming down her face. She reached out, seemingly to touch something. Her hands continued to move up and down but looked like she couldn't when she started to cry out.

"We need to leave." Yukari spoke firmly. It was filled with authority. There was still a possibility of Alek going crazy again though it seemed low.

"I'm staying." Castor told her without wasting a moment. He wanted to meet his cousin again. He and Pollux actually thought of him as an older brother, just like Alek.

"Me too." Pollux was still looking at his cousins in the light. He was glued to them. "You guys can go."

"We can't do that!" Iris told her brothers.

"Castor? Pollux?" Aether turned to look at them with his angelic figure. His eyes were hazel unlike, any other people in his family and, it made him stand out when they gathered. He was

"Aether?" Jin asked his cousin and, Aether replied with a smile.

"Yes?"

"Castor, snap out of it! Aether isn't there!" Iris tugged at her brother's shirt. Aether looked at Iris and flashed a sad smile across his face.

"He is there!" Rin told his sister and, she froze with disbelief. The heck were her brothers talking about? Did they go crazy like Alek?

"Oh, hell no! I'm staying." Jin removed Iris's hands from his shirt and strode to his dead cousin. His brother also did the same.

"Castor! Pollux!" Iris called out their names but they acted like they didn't hear her and stood a little far from Alek.

"We need to leave." Astraea held her daughter's wrist from going to her brothers. She couldn't afford to risk her daughter getting hurt. At least she knew the twins were stronger than her daughter and almost their father.

In the end, Iris and Bia were dragged out of the room while everyone else walked away and closed the room shut, leaving the "three" people in the room.
