Family of the Sunflower

Ever since Alektrona watched a movie about faeries, she always believed in supernaturals. When people told her there are no such things as supernatural, she always replied, "If there are no such things as supernaturals, where did the myths and legends come from? Imagination? Hallucination? I don't know! But I would love to know and meet one," She says it with a bright smile but, once she meets their confused gaze, she looks back at them with the same confusion as them. "I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who believes in spirits and faeries... right...? " And look at them expectation in her eyes. Her answer makes others fall speechless apart from her grandmother, who loves Greek mythology. Although Alek believes in the existence of supernaturals, she's never encountered one. God knows how many books she's read about Supernaturals. Alek talked to everything she sees and asks them, "When will you guys finally show up to me and start a conversation? I wouldn't tell anybody! I just want to meet you guys so that I couldn't die happily. So I'll be here, waiting for you guys to show up and talk to me." *********** Alek sneakily entered the room and was greeted by a boy facing toward the window opposite the door that she just entered. She thought he was Kai. She prepared to scare him. But before she tried to do anything, he snapped his neck to where she was standing. She was caught off guard. But what she saw next was enough for her brain to stop functioning. "What the..." Alek could not continue. The boy looked like her dead brother, Aether. *********** "They are not friendly, especially the Shiwasu." Astraea told her niece. "If you can't prove that you are able to replace her, then we are all doomed." Everyone was listening to her with serious faces, even the youngest looked like she knew that would be the end. "I will prove it." Alek spoke with determination in her eyes. ------------------ This is the story about shape-shifters and some parts are written in Japanese in roman alphabet as this book contains a little bit of Japanese culture and tradition. Iris (2)

The light looked like a wave of white sheets. Like a white aurora, moving mystically.

When Lake saw this light coming from his daughter's hands, he knew she had succeeded in making the antidote. Because she was a jellyfish, her light was white. Lake's is black because he is a black widow.

The light faded away after a few minutes. Iris opened her eyes to check her brother and found a weak pulse under his skin. This made her smile and hug him.

"Sorry to interrupt." Myra told Iris. "Would you mind doing the same thing you did to him?" She pointed at the man lying in the bed.

"Of course." Iris quickly moved away from her brother carefully and went to the side of the man she had stung.

She cupped his face as she did with her brother and concentrated. She let the feeling of when she wanted to save her brother so desperately and flowed that feeling through her hands. Iris knew she was healing him when she felt some hotness from her hands. She felt the same thing when she was holding Jin in her hands. It felt like she was touching a hot pot but, she didn't feel pain. It was still hot but, it was okay. She, in fact, felt comfortable with the heat she was creating.

Iris let Niko"s face go when she felt that she had cured him. She was right. When she opened her eyes, she saw that he was no longer breathing erratically and not frowning like he used to.

"Oh, dear!" Myra exclaimed as she saw him open his eyes. She carefully embraced him in her arms, careful not to hurt him. "Thank you, young one. For saving his life." She then told Iris.

"I'm the one who almost killed him, So I don't think you should be thanking me..." Iris said as she blushed. She tried to find a shield from her brother and realised he was not there. She then hid behind her father instead.

This action made Lake smile. His daughter always hid behind her brothers and not him. He felt like thanking his son for giving him this opportunity.

But suddenly, Iris came from her father, and she faced him directly. "Dad, don't ever do this again." She spoke like his wife when she was really angry and, this made him get a bit afraid of his little daughter.

"Oh, Lake." Cora, who has been watching this the whole time, laughed. "Thanks again, Iris. You saved him."

Iris blushed again but got confused. How did she know her name? Just as when she was about to ask her, she answered as if she read her mind.

"Your father told me everyone's names before you came. In fact, I've known your name since birth. You visited here when you were little." Cora answered with a smile. "Umm, Iris. Would you mind us collecting your antidote? We want to keep it just in case."

"Not at all. Would you want my venom too?" Iris asked back. The antidote that she created has the effect on only her venom. Meaning it wouldn't work on other jellyfish venoms.

"We've already collected your venom from him." Cora looked at the man in bed. "Now will you follow me?" Iris followed her back to the entrance where they would be collecting it.

Castor was moved to the next bed beside the man who was stung by his sister. He was getting well but, he still needed time. He was used to his venom as he trained himself to be but, he was still new to Iris's venom.

His venom and his sister's venom had some symptoms in common, which made him easy to bear. He was definitely not used to venoms. Especially Iris's. Iris's venom was one of the strongest of its kind.

He lay on the bed while concentrating on his breathing. It made him feel less venom in his system. He heard his father sit on the foot of the bed silently but left soon for some reason he didn't know. Jin heard the woman and the man talking after his father left. They must have thought that he was asleep.

"Thank goodness you are alive! I'm so happy and lucky." The woman spoke to the man quietly not to disturb him or any other people in the area.

"Myra..." The man only said her name.

Then Castor heard the woman sobbing. It wasn't loud but, everything was loud when the surroundings were silent.

"Sweetheart, why are you crying?" By the man he addressed the woman, Castor knew they were lovers.

"I am, just... happy that you are here with me. I thought I was going to lose you, Niko." Myra answered while sobbing slightly.

"Shhhhh." The man hugged his lover. "I will always be with you."

Jin felt like running away from this place but, he couldn't. If he woke up, they would know that he was listening to them. He also felt awkward and embarrassed but that, he was used to it. He was used in this kind of position as his father and mother were like a newlywed. His parents were a little more cheesy than the couple next to him. And his uncle and aunt were worse than his parents. He had seen how they acted when he met them days ago in his grandmother's house.

But thankfully, the couple did not talk anymore and, Castor could finally feel comfortable. He did not like to eavesdrop, even by accident.

He heard several footsteps that were getting closer to him and stopped at his bedside. He felt the bed sink but not as much as when his father sat. He knew that it was no other than his sister, Iris.

He then slowly opened his eyes like he was asleep the whole time and woke up now. Iris quickly came close to her brother. "Did I wake you up? How are you feeling?"

"No, you didn't wake me up and, I am feeling not bad." Jin told his sister truthfully. He felt his body getting better. Maybe that was because he was used to venom.

"I'm sorry." Iris lowered her head in shame.

Castor tapped his sister's head lightly. "It's okay. I am actually glad that you stung me."

"Why?" Iris looked up and asked him.

"Because now you know how to create an antidote for your venom. Also, you saved a man's life today." He told her with a smile.

"Yes I was able to create antidote for you and him but I wouldn't have needed to make one if I just didn't sting you guys. I'm the one who put your lives in danger and that's the reason I have the ability to make antidote." Iris answered her brother, not meeting his gaze anymore.

"But the important thing here is that I and him, are alive. You have the ability to create the antidote now." Jin held his sister's tiny hands and told her firmly.

"Yes." The man chatted into the conversation from the next bed. "You saved my life today and, I can't thank you enough."

Iris didn't know what to say but blush at his words. She quickly lay next to her brother and hid her face on his chest.

Castor held Iris's head closer to him as he told them. "My sister is a little shy."

The two lovers laughed at his statement. This made Iris wiggle closer to his brother as she hid her face from them. She was cute.

------------

Jin left the bed slowly and quietly, not disturb his sleeping sister.

They eventually fell asleep while cuddling and, he just woke up. His body felt fine after hours of sleep.

Once he was out safely, he looked at Iris. It must have been an exhausting experience for her. She had just discovered something new about her. She had almost killed her brother and a man. It must have been tiring to deal with all of this.

Castor walked away from her before putting a blanket over her. He went to the entrance to find no one there an,d he realised that no one was in the treehouse except him and his sister. He didn't notice the lovers were also gone. It was really quiet.

He saw a note written [I'm with everyone else. Find me when you wake up.] He knew it was his father written it because of the handwriting.

He laughed at the note silently before putting it back. He looked at his watch, and it told him that it was quarter to three pm. No wonder he was hungry.

He wanted to go to everyone else and eat lunch but, he couldn't leave his sister alone in this place. So he grabbed a glass and jug and walked back to his sister.

Jin kept them on the bedside table and waited for his sister to wake up. He didn't particularly do anything to wake her up, though. He just waited and sometimes looked outside one of the majestic windows of the treehouse. When he listened carefully, he heard the sound of the river flowing and animals in this area.

This gave him time to think. He started to wonder how things were like this. When he first arrived at the forest, it looked nothing like this. It was dark and cold with no light and, he was sure he didn't spot any river nearby. It was weird. Maybe it had something to do with witches or fairies.

Castor thought as he waited. He occasionally saw bird-humans flying and, they each had different types of feathers and colours. It was fun to see them. Some of them noticed him staring and waved at him. He waved back.
