Meeting the parents

"Wow Aditya. What have you had for breakfast today? This is a practice, take it easy." Jaz was saying as the whole team India was in ground practicing for upcoming matches India vs South Africa.

"Ya sorry." Aditya said not making the eyes contact. Just last night Vedika dumped him even thought they were not a couple. The feeling was equal to being dumped by the love of life.

He didn't knew what else to do so he just concentrated on his game. Pushing her thoughts out using bat and ball was way easier.

Somehow he was not feeling that devastated, he was sure Vedika was hiding something, her eyes and her mouth were talking about exactly different feelings.

She looked pained when walked away.

Is she engaged, he thought.

Maybe he should stop thinking about her, if she doesn't want to be with him then he should not bug himself by thinking about possible reasons.

"Aditya." Sahid called.

"Hmm?" Aditya responded.

"I have been shouting your name, where are you?" Sahid asked.

"Just thinking, some stuff. What's up." Aditya walked towars Sahid.

"Practice is over. You seem lost."

"No I...just..you know nothing. "

"Is this about a girl? You know if this is about a girl then be careful and don't let it affect your game."

"No I won't."

"You mean this is about a girl. Who? The one in the restaurant that night. Tell me."

"No....yes. I don't know what to say. Its confusing even for me."

"It is confusing. Feelings in the beginning are always confusing but don't keep hanging on that. You have a life to live and if she is the one for you, you both will find a way for each other." Sahid patted his shoulder bringing him back to reality.

"Thanks man this means a lot." Aditya said genuinely feeling grateful.

"You can always talk to me. Come on let's go now."

Aditya and Sahid left the ground together, talking about the coming series and family life.

They saw some other cricketers and coaches in the parking lot outside most of whom were busy on their phones.

"Sir please my wife is ill she might have a heart attack. Please help her." An old man in his late 50s was crying and requesting in front of a man sitting inside the blue BMW.

Aditya and some of his team mates spoted him as they exited the main gate of the stadium.

"Get away from me. Who are you?" The man with BMW said and pushed the old man away who then fell to the ground.

Aditya immediately parked the car at the side and rushed towards the old man.

"Mr. are you okay?" Aditya helped him up till then others came as well.

"My wife needs to go to hospital fast please. Help her." The man requested.

"Where is she?"

"There." The man pointed and they all rushed towards the woman lying at the foot of stairs, breathing heavily.

Aditya, Rocky and Ray bend down to help the woman up.

Aditya along with the old man took the woman to the nearest hospital while others went their way.

"Thank you sir for helping my wife." The man said.

"I am happy I could be of help and please call me Aditya." Aditya said to the man in the lobby of the hospital while his wife was being checked by the doctor.

"Aditya I am Harish and that lady inside is my wife Hema. Excuse me I should call my daughter."

"Sure." Aditya thought about leaving the couple now that they knew Hema was fine but he couldn't feel like going. Harish also insisted him to leave but he was adamant on dropping them home.

"Aditya I talked to the doctor and we can go home now." Harish said.

"That's great." Aditya said but he was disappointed at their daughter's behaviour towards her parents. How come she didn't came to the hospital for her mother?

Now they were on the way back home. Hema was still feeling weak and wasn't speaking much.

"Did you tell Vedika?" Hema said and the name rang the Christmas bells in Aditya's head. He didn't wanted to get his hopes high, obviously there are many other Vedikas.

"No I was going to but doctor said you can go home so I thought she would insist on coming to the hospital and it would take a lot of time so we better meet at home."

Harish said and Aditya felt bad for thinking ill about their daughter earlier.

Everything was alright now but Aditya felt anxious. He wanted to meet his Vedika and that's why wanted to wait for Hema and Harish's daughter. However less were the chances for both to be same for him then, he couldn't loose it.

Then he remembered the words, " You have a life to live and if she is the one for you, you both will find a way for each other."

This was not right for either of them when Vedika clearly said they couldn't be together and so he left as soon as Hema and Harish go off.

No good bye no see you, only the pain of uncertainty and happiness of moving on.

Maybe this was for the best. Maybe.
