It was obvious Serena was dragging this out just to toy with them, and every word she spoke felt like another slap to Ava's face.
And yet, Ava felt a bit pacified when Sidney took her side for a change and spoke up, "It's not just about pressure or troubling the rest of your family, Rena! This is about the future of everything that your grandmother worked for. The longer you drag this out, the more risk you're putting the entire company in. And whether or not you care, that affects you too. If this company sinks, you'll be sinking right alongside."
"Then I guess we'll all have to wait and see if I let us sink, won't we?" she replied lazily.
Ava, unable to stand Serena's smugness any longer, stepped around Sidney and answered, "This isn't a game, Serena. People's lives, livelihoods are at stake. You might enjoy sitting back and watching everyone squirm, but don't forget—you're tied to this too. Whatever happens affects you just as much as it affects us."
