Drink a a few drinks

Isaac drove off from his parents’ house. Rachel is quite sure that he's trying to get away as fast he can. Judging from the speed he is driving, he definitely is. She looked over the speedometer on the car's dash to see how fast they're going. Isaac was going more than 90 miles per hour.

Rachel had no problem with fast cars. She is even a speeder herself when she’s trying to go some place faster. However she can tell that Isaac was not in the right headspace for driving this fast. He’s upset and Rachel personally feels that it’s not good for him to drive like this.

"Isaac?"

She tried to call out to him but he was not responding. She looked at the road and she noticed a man was about to cross. Isaac didn’t seem to see the man when Rachel looked over. He kept driving with his speed. He was breathing hard and his grip on the steering wheel was tight. When she realized that Isaac had not noticed the pedestrian, Rachel took action.

"Isaac! Stop!" Rachel grabbed the steering wheel and swerved the car to avoid the pedestrian.

This snapped Isaac's focus back to Rachel. Once he saw the fear painted in her face, he took his foot off of the gas pedal and stepped on the brakes. As the car now started to slow down, Isaac kept looking at Rachel who was starting to breathe fast. When the car stopped, Rachel took more deep breaths to try and calm her heartrate.

"I'm sor-" Isaac started but was cut off when Rachel snapped at him.

"What the hell were you thinking?! You could've gotten us killed! Or worse you, could've gotten someone else killed!" Rachel pointed at the direction of the man they almost hit. She then took another deep breath to calm herself more before continuing. "I get that you're mad, but that doesn't mean you could just drive around like a fucking maniac."

There was silence between the two after that. Both did not know what to say to each other anymore. Rachel was still agitated from what happened, or what almost happened. Her heartrate was just starting to calm down and the sudden rush of adrenaline was starting to wear off.

Rachel closed her eyes and tried to process the events of the evening. The dinner with Isaac’s parents was obviously a mess. She never thought it would end up like that. She knew Isaac’s parents wouldn’t have been okay with their relationship, because who would be? Surely no parent would be okay if their child got married without them knowing. Then now, they almost got in an accident. It’s too much shit for one evening. She needs something to take her mind off of it. Luckily she knows exactly how to do that.

”I don’t know about you, but I need a drink.” Rachel says as took out her phone. She was looking for nearby bars around their location. She doesn’t even know where they are exactly but that doesn’t matter any more. Thank goodness for GPS.

”I found a bar a few blocks from here.” Rachel starts as she fixed her dress, getting ready to go out of the vehicle. “You’re welcome to tag along if you want. If not then I’ll see you later.”

Once Rachel got out of the car, Isaac stayed in silence. He didn’t know what to do. Should he follow her or just stay here? She’ll be safe on her own right? Isaac debated what he should do in his head. On one hand, he felt worried that Rachel was going to that bar alone. On the other hand, he’s hesitant to follow her, thinking that she might not want his company right now. After all, Isaac thinks that Rachel is mad at him for how the night went, which in his opinion is completely justified.

In the end, Isaac got his keys and went out of the car. Rachel wasn’t that far from the car and Isaac could still see her walking. He jogged to catch up with her. Once he did, he matched her speed and the two of them continued walking silently. Isaac wasn’t really expecting Rachel to say anything, but as she stay silent, he was kind of wishing she would talk. However, even if she does talk, Isaac wouldn’t really know what to say either. Maybe it’s better this way?

As moments of silence pass by, Isaac couldn’t help but think about their agreement and their marriage. He’s thinking that Rachel might pull out of their agreement after that outburst with his parents. Who could blame her really? It was a mess. He expected that his parents wouldn’t have agreed with their marriage but he wasn’t expecting things to unfold like that. He wasn’t expecting himself to blow up. He’s worried that he might’ve frightened Rachel with his reaction.

Isaac watched as Rachel sped up her pace when they were nearing their destination. By this time, Isaac noticed that Rachel seemed to have calmed down. Once inside, Rachel beelines toward the bar. He could only watch as she orders her drink, presumably with alcohol. Isaac kept his eyes at her as he continue to think about their agreement. If Rachel quits now, his parents would probably know that it was fake all along. He would no longer have any excuse to get out of the arrange marriage his parents planned for him. Would it be selfish of him to make Rachel stay after what happened during the dinner? Maybe. But he's desperate, he would do anything to make her stay.

"Aren't you gonna order anything?" Rachel leaned over Isaac.

"No, I don't think so." Isaac answered.

Rachel shrugged at his response and continued to drink. Once she finished her glass, she ordered another one. Isaac was a bit surprised by her pace in drinking. He wasn't one to judge though. He understood how stressful the situation they had just came from, and if drinking was gonna let Rachel take her mind off of it, he's willing to give her that.

Isaac stared at Rachel as she drank her third glass of alcohol. She puts the glass down at the counter once she finished. She then turned to Isaac, finally noticing the man's eyes on her. Isaac didn't bother to look away when their eyes met. He didn't have any judgmental look on him though, something that Rachel was actually expecting him to have.

"What?" Rachel raised her eyebrow at the man.

"Nothing." Isaac responded, looking away.

A hand slides a shot of clear liquid, which was clearly alcohol, in front of Isaac. He looked at the owner of the hand. It was Rachel with a convincing look in her face. Isaac just raises an eyebrow at her.

"Oh come on, just one shot." Rachel pushes the glass further in front of him.

Isaac looks at the glass then back at Rachel, still not saying anything.

"You've had a stressful night, this'll take your mind off of it." She continues.

In his mind, Isaac thinks about it more. She does have a point, the night was stressful and even if it wouldn't help solve all of his problems, alcohol might help. He takes a glass and drinks the liquid. After he finishes it, he puts the glass back on the counter and turns to Rachel.

"Happy?"

"Nope, not yet. You gotta drink another one." Rachel replied as she went to order another drink from the bartender. Isaac glares at her but drinks what she ordered as Rachel cheered him on.

"Are you trying to get me drunk?" Isaac asks as he set the glass down.

"A little, yeah." Rachel laughed.

As the night progresses, the two continue to drink. Between the two of them, Rachel had most drinks and was actually the one coaxing Isaac to drink more. Every once in a while, Isaac drinks some water, as to not get too wasted. After a while, it took a toll on his bladder and excused himself to go to the restroom.

When he got back, he noticed a man had already approached Rachel at their spot. From what he observed, he seems to be flirting with her. The guy was making a lot of eye contact with her and is leaning towards Rachel. Isaac honestly did not know what to do. Should he go back to her? Should he stop the guy from hitting on her? Tell him they're married? Well, it's not like a real marriage after all. They're just pretending.

He then looked at Rachel's reaction as the guy continued to talk to her. She doesn't seem to be interested that much. She keeps looking away and nodding at what the guy seemed to be saying. The guy nodded towards the exit but Rachel shook her head. The guy was about to grab her hand but Rachel was able to put it away. The guy was insistent though, he kept trying to hit on Rachel as she continue to reject his moves. No one at the bar seemed to notice the scene. Everyone else at the bar was too busy with their own lives. At this point, Isaac was already walking instinctively towards Rachel.

"Excuse me, is there a problem here?" Isaac says as he approached Rachel and the man.

"We're kind doing our own thing here man." The man exclaims at Isaac. He then turns back to Rachel. "Come on, don't you wanna go somewhere private?"

"No, I really don't." Rachel replies as she went closer towards Isaac, trying to get away from the guy as much as she can. Unfortunately the guy was still insistent.

"She said she doesn't want to, just leave her alone." Isaac tells the guy as he visibly clenched his fists and steps forward. He was ready to punch the guy if it the situation calls for it. Rachel seemed to notice his fists and holds it, in hopes of trying to stop him from attacking the guy.

"Why don't you just stay out of this. Who the hell even are you? You, her boyfriend or something?" The guys turned his attention to Isaac.

"I-" Isaac was taken aback by that question. His fists unclenches as it dawned on him that he didn't really know what to say. He wasn't sure if it would be okay for him to call himself Rachel's boyfriend. If he was being honest with himself, he doesn't even know what their relationship is right now. Are they even friends? Fake spouses maybe? Business partners? He doesn't know.

"Yes, he is my boyfriend." Rachel told the guy, who immediately backed off. This response from Rachel left Isaac more shocked, he didn't really expect her to say that, then again, she might have just said that because of the situation they are currently in.

The guy raised his hand and slowly backed away. "Sorry man, didn't know she was taken. She was flirting back, so I thought it was cool."

"I wasn't flirting back!" Rachel exclaims at the guy.

"Oh please, you were being all nice and shit, you were basically throwing yourself at me." The guy points at Rachel.

Isaac steps between them before Rachel could start to speak, "She said she wasn't flirting with you, do us all a favor and just walk away."

"She's lying to you man." The guy turns to Isaac. "What a fucking bitch!"

"Hey! Don't fucking call her that." Isaac says before charging towards the guy. However, as if on instinct, Rachel goes in front of Isaac before he could reach the guy.

"Woah woah, Isaac stop." Once she got Isaac's attention, he stopped and looked at her. Rachel looks at the guy then back at Isaac, "It's not worth it."

"Yeah, be little bitch and listen to your girlfriend." The guy says before turning around.

Rachel scoffed. "You know what," She slams her purse in Isaac's chest. "Fuck you!" She charges at the guy and punches his jaw. Isaac, along the rest of the bar, was surprised with what happened. The guy didn't hesitate to retaliate. As he was about to punch her back, Rachel was also ready to tackle him. Isaac grabbed Rachel by her stomach, and spun her around to his side. Luckily the guy missed both of them. Rachel kicked around as Isaac tried to pull her away. Unfortunately for the guy, Rachel's feet reached his crotch and got kicked. The guy dropped down on his knees holding his crotch area as he screamed in pain. By this time, a bouncer already approached them and was trying to break up the fight.

After a while, Isaac and Rachel found themselves once again walking outside the bar. It wasn't the same way they came to the bar but none of them seemed to be interested in where they're going right now. It was already late and the moon was bright up in the sky. As they continue walking away from the bar, there was a distance and silence between them. Isaac wanted to break it but he didn't know how. A lot has happened tonight and he wasn't even sure where to start. In the end, it was Rachel who broke the silence.

"I'm sorry I got us kicked out of the bar." Rachel shyly turns towards Isaac.

"It's alright. It's actually quite interesting." Isaac teasingly looked at Rachel, wherein she just rolled her eyes at him.

"Honestly, I never thought I'd see a 5 foot woman try to beat up a 6 foot man." Isaac added.

"Okay first of all, I'm 5 foot 4, which is the average height for women. And secondly, that guy was a fucking asshole. He deserved it" Rachel replied.

"Yeah, he does." Isaac then asked, "By the way, where did you learn to punch like that?"

"I took a self defense class, for that exact same situation we had at that bar."

"Well, I guess it was worth it then."

Isaac and Rachel then looked at each other and burst into laughter. Both were not sure what exactly they were laughing about but it felt nice. So much has happened this night and it feels good to finally just laugh it out with someone.

Once their laughter died out, Isaac says, "Remind me never to piss you off." To which Rachel laughs more.

"How are you by the way?" Isaac asks when Rachel stopped laughing.

Rachel looked at him with a hint of surprised. "I'm okay I guess."

"You sure? I mean that could've been traumatic." He gestured at the direction of the bar.

"Eh," Rachel shrugged. "I'm used to it by now."

"Does that always happen?" By now, Isaac drifted his eyes away from Rachel.

"Not always, sometimes we just have fun and meet really decent guys, but let's just say it happened enough that we've gotten used to it. By we, I meant me and the other women I know."

"I'm sorry, that's terrible." Isaac looked at Rachel, who just shrugged at him with a flat smile.

A silence fell between the two once more. The air seemed to changed. A cold breeze blew and Rachel started hugging herself. She didn't bring a coat for the dinner and she's definitely regretting it now. Isaac noticed her reaction to the breeze and proceeded to take off his coat. He went closer to Rachel with the intention of giving her the coat. Before he puts it on her, Isaac reminded himself to ask, "May I?"

Rachel stopped and looked at him. She nodded so Isaac put his coat around her shivering figure. As he does so, Rachel could feel her cheeks warm up. At the same time, she could feel something in her stomach. "Thank you." Isaac nodded to her with a smile. He then once again put some distance between them, not wanting to get into Rachel's space.

"When you started this day, did you ever think we'd end up getting kicked out of a bar because I tried to beat up someone?" Rachel asked.

"Honestly, no." Isaac replied, to which Rachel chuckled. "Especially after that dinner."

There was another moment of silence before Isaac trailed off, "That reminds me, about our deal... Are we... Are you..."

Rachel turns to Isaac and notices that he seems to be lost in words. She knows what he's trying to say though, he's worried about their agreement. She thinks that he might've suspected her to quit after that dinner with his parents. She then assures him, "Don't worry, I'm staying. It'll take more than that to drive me away." Isaac gives her another small smile.

"Besides, there's a lot of money at stake here." Rachel jokes. Isaac chuckles and looks away.

"After that dinner, I'm sure my parents are gonna do everything they can to break us up. Not to mention that my dad thinks we're faking it. He's probably gonna try and prove that our marriage was a sham."

"I mean he is right though, it is a sham." Rachel replies. Isaac just gives her a flat look. She continues, "Even if they try anything, we'll just do what other married people do." Isaac looks at Rachel, waiting for her to continue her statement.

"Fake it till we make it." She finishes. Isaac gives her a smirk then shook his head before looking away.

As they continue to walk, Rachel finally notices that the streets their walking was unfamiliar. "Hey, where are we?"

Isaac stops in his track. He turns to her with a frown and responds, "What do you mean? I was following you."

"Wait what? I was following you." Rachel points out.

"Oh my god," Isaac facepalms. "So this whole time we've been following each other to nowhere?"

Rachel laughs at their sudden realization. Isaac tried to give her an annoyed look to which Rachel just laughed louder. Her laughter now filled the empty street they were walking on. Isaac would hate to admit it but her laughter had some sort of effect on him.

"You think this is funny? We're literally lost Rachel." Isaac tried to be serious again but Rachel still kept laughing at their situation. In the end, he ended up laughing with her. They looked at each other and continued to laugh together.

"What's the plan?" Isaac asked after laughing.

While she was laughing, Rachel already opened her phone to check the GPS. "Well it looks like we're closer to home than where we left the car."

"Seriously?" Isaac goes beside Rachel to check her phone. She was right, going back for the car would be farther than if they just continued to walked back home. So they did. They continued to walk under the moonlight in an unknown neighborhood.

As they continue their journey, Rachel suddenly stops. Isaac notices and stops as well. "What's wrong?"

"My feet is killing me, I gotta take off these heels." Rachel says as she does so. She's now walking on her feet as they continue their way home.

"As long as you don't force me carry you we're good." Isaac tells Rachel.

"Oh you know what, my feet hurts so much, I'm gonna need a piggy back ride." Rachel says sarcastically as she mockingly limps towards Isaac.

He knows she's just trying to tease him so he just gives her a look. Rachel responds with another laugh. Hearing her laugh like that made Isaac laugh as well. There was something about that laugh that just makes this night lighter for Isaac. This night might have started terrible but it sure is ending well.
