Legend

Coming upon a black stump, Strider took a seat. He looked around the Blossom Valley forest; it was a beautiful sight. The red and pink cherry blossoms were in full bloom, and whether they littered the ground or were pinned upon trees, their beauty didn't diminish.

He took Anguirel out of its pocket dimension and admired the scabbard. The stark black sheath was adorned with cherry blossoms which, while lessening its otherwise fearsome provenance, added a bit of beauty to the otherwise vicious blade – beauty that her spartan mate lacked.

"Anglachel?" Strider asked aloud. "Anguirel?"

He received no replies from either blade.

'I'll grant them this reprieve, I suppose,' Strider thought to himself. He slung both blades around his waist and slowly – very slowly – began the many miles walk out of the forest. The world had waited centuries for news that a Century Quest had been completed; at his behest, it would wait a few more hours.

"Do you guys think he's ok?" Mira asked nervously. Erza, Lucy, Juvia, Cana, Bisca, Kagura, and Jenny were all gathered with her in Strider's room later that night. They hadn't received any word yet – not from Strider, from a news outlet, or the quest givers.

"No news is good news, right?" Lucy asked nervously.

"I hope so," Mira said, rubbing her face. "I can't help but stress out when it comes to him."

"You're not wrong to do so. Strider gets in more trouble by himself than Gray or Natsu combined," Erza said.

"Yeah, but he's mature enough to deal with it," Lucy reminded her.

"True enough. Nonetheless, I'd prefer it if he at least tries to avoid it directly," Erza said.

"No kidding," Cana said, finishing her current bottle. "Dragons, Century Quests, other champions, and who knows what else. He needs to take it easy."

"After you guys finish your SS-Class job, I'm not approving another one with him for a month," Mira said.

"Agreed," Erza said.

"Probably for the best," Bisca sighed. "Perhaps one of us should've gone."

"He's right in thinking it would've diverted his attention. With a Century Quest, he cannot be thinking about two things at once," Kagura said.

"I'm confident that he's fine," Juvia said, her face betraying her worry. "He's extremely powerful. I don't think there's anything to worry about."

"I hope you're right, Juvia," Jenny said, looking out the window.

The following morning, the entire guild had gathered on the main floor. The mood was much more somber than usual. There had been nothing from Strider since the morning before; and even a day later, there was no communication from him or the Quest Givers. Calls made went unreturned, which further sank their mood. Even Natsu, Gray, and Gajeel didn't feel like getting into their usual fights & arguments. Every time the doors opened, they'd quickly look to see who came but were disappointed not to see Strider. Eventually, they even stopped watching. The only person who didn't seem to think too much about the situation was Asuka; she was happily running around the tables, jumping or taking shots here and there.

"Mama, let's go play!" Asuka asked.

"Later, baby girl," Bisca said, straightening her hat. "We have to wait for Papa to come home first."

"Where is he?" Asuka asked.

"He's on a quest," Bisca said.

"Is it hard?"

"A little."

"Papa's cool! He'll come soon!" Asuka said with a toothy grin. She went right back to playing around.

Master Mavis and Makarov were sitting atop the bar; the former was looking around the guild with a frown while the latter seemed to be meditating.

"What's your position, First Master?"

"I think you're all too worried for no reason," she said honestly as the doors opened again. "A little faith would go a long way."

"That would certainly be appreciated," Strider said as he took a seat. Mavis and Makarov looked on, mouth agape as he winked at them.

"STRIDER!" Makarov exclaimed for everyone to hear. They all looked at the bar and slowly but surely, everyone grinned. Strider had half a mind to use his telekinesis as protection as they all rushed him excitedly, blasting him with questions, congratulating him, chanting his name, or otherwise showing their love and affection. Strider ruffled Wendy's hair as she hugged him and levitated a pouting Asuka over the others so he could hold her.

"Papa's back!" Asuka said happily, hugging him.

"It's good to see you too, Asuka. Were you a good girl while I was gone?" Strider asked kindly.

"Yep! Hey papa, can we get some ice cream?"

"Sure. I think Mira's got some set aside for an occasion like this," Strider said, looking at the white-haired beauty. Mira smiled wide and quickly got some mint chocolate chip for the two.

"All right, everyone! I know you're–" Makarov began before quickly getting cut off.

"STRIDER, STRIDER, HE'S OUR MAN! IF HE CAN'T DO IT, NO ONE CAN!" Wakaba, Macao, Nab, Max, and Vijeeter chanted continuously.

"HOLY SHIT I CAN'T BELIEVE HE BEAT THE CENTURY QUEST CRAP THAT'S AWESOME!" Natsu said with stars in his eyes.

"I suppose that figures," Laxus said with a smirk. He had always wanted to try one himself, but considering Gildarts, he had opted not to.

"What do you think, dad?" Cana asked, smiling as she stared at Strider.

"I didn't doubt him for a second," Gildarts said, grinning. "Maybe I'll ask him to take me with him next time."

"No fucking way I'm letting you go," Cana sighed. "Hey, Mira. Make sure you never OK a Century Quest for him, please."

"No problem, Cana," Mira agreed.

"Congrats!" Jenny squealed as she leaped and kissed his cheek.

"MY LOVE!" Juvia exclaimed, doing the same for his other side.

"Might as well join," Cana giggled, jumping on his back.

"Congratulations indeed," Erza said, hugging his front. Mira, Bisca, and Kagura just grumbled; they'd get theirs in later.

"I think that's enough for the moment, ladies," Mavis giggled. "Perhaps it'd be best if you regale us, o' Legendary Strider." Everyone sat on the floor (save Asuka, who refused to release him) and Strider delved into what had happened.

"Well, how it happened was…" he began. He walked them through arriving at the shrine and meeting the Head Monk; of heading to the abandoned shrine and the pocket dimension he was sent to; of fighting the warrior and how it ended up being the wraith of a woman who may have been a monk; of how her body turned to bark and blossom. All the while, he kept getting a nagging feeling – Anguirel.

"550 million jewels?!" Lucy shrieked.

"500 million. I gave 50 million to the shrine," Strider said with a smile. "And this cape, of course, as well as some other clothes, books, and herbs."

"500… million… jewel," Lucy said, nearly drooling.

"Easy there, Lu," Cana giggled.

"NO ONE SLEEPS TONIGHT!" Makarov roared excitedly. "WE PARTY UNTIL WE CAN'T!"

"AYE!" Everyone exclaimed.

"Makarov will inform the press, the guilds, the council, the saints, and the King & Princess," Mavis said with a smile; she was proud beyond words that the first Century Quest was completed by someone from her guild. "Congratulations, Strider."

"Thank you, Master Mavis. However, if you'll all forgive me, I'm going to rest before I join the party. Suffice it to say that I'm tired after not having slept the past day," Strider said.

"Of course. Get some rest," Mavis nodded.

"Come on, sweetheart. Papa needs to sleep," Bisca said, taking Asuka back.

"Sweet dreams, papa!"

"Thank you, Asuka," Strider said, kissing her head before heading to bed.

Strider took Anguirel out of the pocket dimension and laid both her and Anglachel on his desk. His eyes ran along their beautiful black scabbards; slowly, he unsheathed both of them. The blades were similar in their stark black edge, but while Anguirel had a more beautiful hilt, he preferred Anglachel's spartan look.

He silently observed them for long minutes before he finally heard a voice.

'She requires more rest,' Anglachel said.

"Very well," Strider said, sheathing them both back. He deposited Anguirel back in the pocket dimension before collapsing into bed, at peace.

-o-

Strider peacefully woke up a couple of hours later. As much as he enjoyed the company of the others, there was something to be said about the peace he felt on his own. No distractions, no interruptions, no one wanting to ask for anything or talk about anything. Just him, alone with his thoughts.

He stretched and showered and changed, leaving his shirt off as he sat down for a little spell. He pulled out one of the books he had been gifted and inspected the table of contents, marking some chapters that intrigued him and dog-earing their pages. He continued to do so for the other books as well.

'I'd give all of my reward to the first person who thought up a table of contents,' he thought cheerfully. For most of the books, he couldn't make heads or tails. 'I guess some of this stuff is ancient history in Fiore and Ishgar.'

Of particular interest were a couple of books on flowers & herbs – Herblore and Ishgarian Flora. Some of the properties were of interest but would require a lot more research to be of use.

He had just put away the books when he heard a knock.

"Enter," Strider said, putting his shirt back on.

"Hey," the ladies said as they entered. Strider sighed but smiled as they each gave him a tight hug and kiss.

"Congratulations," Mira said. She lingered for a while as she took in his warmth.

"Thanks, Mira," Strider said, kissing her cheek.

"Me next!" Juvia exclaimed, hugging him tightly. She melted a bit as he kissed her head.

"How do you feel?" Jenny asked, hugging him from behind. The other girls grumbled as she began feeling his chest and stomach.

"What're you doing, Jenny?!" Erza demanded.

"Just making sure everything's in place!" Jenny exclaimed, giggling.

"Seriously, are you ok?" Kagura asked worriedly. Strider nodded and pushed some hair behind her ear.

"I am. As you can see, I'm hardly the worse for wear. Difficult, but not excruciatingly so. Certainly not my first rodeo."

"You are the only person on Ishgar that would say that," Bisca said.

"Ah. Please, keep stroking my ego," Strider said smugly. He sat down on the bed, the others around him. "Joking aside, it wasn't as tough as I thought it'd be. Not to say it was easy, but I think this particular job could've been handled by someone else."

"Tell that to all the poor souls that died trying," Mira said.

"Valid point," Strider admitted. He pulled a piece of paper from a desk drawer; it had two other Century Quests on it. "Mount Brand and Sacred Mount Zonia are next up on the list, it seems. Perhaps Mount Zonia before Mount Brand."

"Not this month, you're not. Or next month. I'm not approving it until I think you're 100%," Mira said seriously.

"I'm fine now," Strider protested.

"Doesn't matter. Master Mavis and Makarov agree with me on this, so you don't have another choice," she said.

"Fine," Strider sighed, rubbing his head. "I'll take it as easy as possible for a bit. I promise."

"Good," Lucy said, her voice tinged with worry. "We know you're strong, but you can't keep doing stuff like this. First, you flew all the way here; then you fought those dragons; now this. You need to take it easy, Strider. You're making us worry."

Strider said nothing but felt a slight pang as he looked at Lucy and then the others. They all seemed discomfited.

"You're right, Lucy," he finally said, putting an arm around her. "Forgive me. I'll take it easy."

"I thought you'd put up more fight than that," she said, relieved.

"I would've if I didn't know how you all felt. I don't want to make you worry, after all. I'll wait until Mira thinks I'm ready."

"Thank you," Lucy said, hugging him again.

"But speaking of jobs, what's the SS-Class we're going on? I can at least do that. I mean, if I can do a Century Quest, an SS-Class shouldn't be too bad."

"That's the last one I'm approving you for," Mira said.

"We'll decide when you come back down. After we finish it, I think it's best if we all take a little break. I think we've earned it," Erza said, smiling.

"I'm down for that!" Lucy said excitedly.

"Sounds good to me, too," Cana said, stretching. "Mind if I join you guys on that job?"

"What! Why?" Lucy asked.

"I don't mind. I believe I extended the offer to you once before," Strider said.

"Mhm. I'm taking you up on it," Cana said.

"And I shall be coming along as well, for I am now part of Team Strider!" Juvia said, hearts in her eyes.

"Team Natsu," Strider reminded her.

"Team Natsu in name, but Team Strider in my heart!" Juvia declared, eliciting a laugh from the others.

"Unfortunately, Kagura and I probably can't join you. Interguild jobs need the Master's approval ahead of notice. Plus, SS is probably a bit out of my reach for now," Jenny sighed.

"Well, we still have that Guild Interchange coming up. I'm sure we'll be able to do one then," Strider said.

"Can't wait," Jenny said happily.

"No go for me as well," Bisca sighed.

"No worries. You can join Asuka and me on the job we do. I promise it'll be a small one, Mira. Please?"

"Zero monsters, zero fighting, zero strenuous activity," Mira said.

"Of course," Strider agreed. "Oh, I was wondering if you guys could help me with something."

"What is it?" They asked in unison. Strider almost never asked for help.

"What do you all know about the other countries in Ishgar? I figure that I should probably get some background on them before my matches with their Champions."

"I could tell you more about Alikitasia, but that's about it," Bisca offered.

"Just as well," Strider nodded.

"I'm afraid I've only ever in Fiore. Sorry, I can't help you much in that regard," Erza said. The sentiment was the same amongst Lucy, Mira, Kagura, Jenny, Juvia, and Cana.

"You should probably ask Levy, however. She probably knows something about all of them," Cana said.

"Good idea. I think I'll do that tomorrow, in any case. For now, I'm just going to get a bit more rest before joining the party."

"We'll see you soon," the others said, shuffling out.

-o-

"Strider! We've got a gift for you!" Master roared as he came down. The morning had only just begun, but the party had continued to rage on throughout the night and showed no signs of stopping.

"Oh? What's that, Master?"

"In light of your achievements – slaying Acnologia, slaying those other dragons, becoming Champion of Fiore, and completing a Century Quest – Master Mavis and I have decided to make you an S-Class Wizard officially!"

"Really?" Strider asked, surprised. The others loudly cheered and clapped for him; there was no dissent amongst his friends.

"Indeed," Mavis said, smiling. "You've achieved more without the title than most people have with it. It's only right that we make it official now. You have my blessing, Strider."

"It makes sense. At least now we won't have to compete with you next year," Cana said.

"Yeah, but you might be going up against him as well," Mira reminded her. Cana groaned and quickly hugged Strider, nuzzling against him.

"You'd just let me through, right?" she asked sweetly. Strider just laughed.

"We'll see. I'm honored, Master Makarov, Master Mavis," Strider said with a grateful smile and bow.

"We're honored to have you, my boy," Makarov said, tossing him a drunk. "LET'S PARTY!"

"Congratulations, my love!" Juvia said, hugging him.

"Mhm. Good job," Erza said, doing the same.

"Did you see this week's Sorcerer's Weekly?" Cana asked Strider as he joined them.

"I haven't. What is it?" Strider wondered as he sat down next to her at the bar. Mira giggled as Strider looked at the cover in disbelief.

"What do you think?" Erza asked, smirking.

"What, in the name of all that is good, is this?!" Strider asked. He was staring at a picture of himself after he had beaten the 100 monsters. His eyes & mouth were blazing electric blue, and his lips were curved into a smile. However, what got him most was the headline "Strider: Ishgar's Most Eligible Bachelor."

"You're famous now," Mira laughed. "You're not Fiore's most eligible bachelor, but Ishgars."

"Ooooh, Mr. Strider, could I please have your autograph?" Cana teased.

"Mhm. Won't you please let me touch your face?" Jenny giggled, pinching his cheek.

"Could you kiss my baby? Oh, it'd mean so much to me," Bisca laughed, rocking Asuka.

"I am literally going to destroy whoever printed this," Strider growled. "I mean it. I am literally going to do the evilest thing I can think of to this person. Oh, they messed with the wrong Wizard this time! Don't they know what I can do with my telekinesis? They're about find out. First, I'm going to twist them around three times, then…"

"Relax," Bisca said, smirking. "It's all in good fun. Besides, we know you love an ego stroke. This is the best you can get."

"Ugh, Gods help me," Strider grumbled. "Any of them. I'm a free agent."

"Wait until they find out you beat the Century Quest. Then you're gonna get it," Mira said.

"Then, for all intents and purposes, I didn't beat it," Strider said.

"Too late. The Kingdom and the Saints have already been informed," Mavis said, sitting on the counter.

"Well, it was nice knowing you all. I'm going to change my name and face and leave. Take care, ladies. It was fun while it lasted," Strider said, motioning to get up. Bisca pushed him back down and handed him Asuka, who hugged him tightly.

"Ah. Now that's not fair, Bisca," Strider said.

"Alls fair," she laughed.

"Papa! Mama said you beat a tough job! Good job!" Asuka praised him.

"Thank you, Asuka. Oh, that reminds me. I didn't come back empty handed. I have a gift for you all," Strider said. Opening the pocket dimension, he pulled out the gorgeous flowers and spread them about to the guild. He gave Asuka a huge, black tree bark that had sprung dozens of cherry blossoms.

"Wow. These are beautiful," Lucy said, blushing slightly. She took in the delightful scent of the red rose and sighed happily.

"Thanks, papa!" Asuka said, hugging Strider again.

"You're welcome, Asuka," Strider said, patting her head.

"Thank you," Kagura said, smelling them. "Are all of these from the valley?"

"Yeah," Strider said, rocking Asuka. "Sorry, Master Mavis. I didn't wait until after to pull these."

"You came back safely, so I suppose that can be forgiven. Thank you for the gift," she said.

"You're very welcome," Strider said. He smiled as Asuka swung the bark around; he deigned not to talk about the particulars.

-o-

The party had raged on for hours longer when the door to the guild burst open again. Reporters suddenly began filing in, taking pictures of Strider, who looked on with a half-dead look. He started answering their questions, being as brief and brusque as possible. That didn't seem to faze the reporters, however; they just kept going on and on.

"These goddamn bastards," Strider growled to Jenny as he finally earned a reprieve. "I've half a mind to fling them halfway across the world. I'm pretty sure I could get away with it too."

"Get used to it, hero," she giggled, kissing his cheek. "There's a lot more ahead."

"Save me," Strider pleaded.

"No can do. I'm gonna leave you high and dry as you did me," she said devilishly.

"You're evil, Jenny. Pure, unadulterated evil," Strider said.

"Don't I know it. I'm a little devil," she chirped.

"I'm sure they'll leave soon," Erza said.

"I hope so," Strider said tiredly. "I hope this doesn't last too long."

"Hello, Strider," came another voice. Strider turned and smiled as he saw Princess Hisui along with her father.

"Princess. Your Majesty," Strider said with a slight nod.

"Congratulations on your win," Toma said, shaking his hand for a long while. Hisui permitted herself a hug before stepping back, her hands folded in front of her.

"Thank you. It was a fun one. I'll say that much," Strider said.

"It's also a significant event!" Toma exclaimed – to the glee of reporters and the chagrin of Strider. "Strider is the first person to attempt and complete a Century Quest successfully. It's an honor to have such a powerful wizard come from Fiore!"

The guild and reporters set down whatever was in their hands and clapped happily for their friend and fellow citizen. Strider held back his sigh and smiled for their sake and the sake of people watching; he waved at the reporters and shook all the hands that they offered to him.

"Thank you, thank you," Strider said. "I'm honored for the kind words, Your Majesty."

While Toma kept singing his praises, Hisui sidled close to him. "You must be a bit annoyed at all this."

"Only a bit," Strider whispered back. "Better for seeing you again – and so soon at that."

"Of course. I couldn't stay away if I wanted to. This is an important event. It'll spread quickly, though; I think the Champion's of other countries are going to have an especially close eye on you."

"Just as well. It may not do them any good, in any case. One should only learn so much about a foe. I intend to bring the win home, of course," Strider said, grinning.

"I've no doubts about that," Hisui said, smirking. "Incidentally, we will be leaving for Bosco in two weeks. We'll be spending around a week there; I believe the king has several festivities planned."

"I see. Very well. I'll keep you safe, my lady. By any means necessary," Strider said seriously. Hisui smiled and nodded; she had no fear of what would happen in Bosco.

"I hope you're ready for this," she mused. "You're about to become the most famous wizard in the world. I know you enjoy your privacy, but I fear you may have lost any shred that you could've hoped to maintain."

"Oh, that's where you're wrong, princess," Strider said, slightly evilly. "I have a straightforward solution. Once someone notices me, I'll fling them away. Into the far reaches of the ocean, if I have too."

"I think that would be illegal," Hisui giggled.

"I'll fling whoever tries to prosecute me into the ocean as well," Strider chuckled.

"Also illegal. No, I'm afraid you'll have to bear it," Hisui said.

"Ugh. Perhaps I should kindly ask all the reporters not to say anything, then. Alternatively, destroy their equipment. I'm not picky."

"Vandalism," Hisui reminded him.

"Fine. I'll bear it," Strider said glumly. "Ah. Excuse me. It appears someone else wants to talk now."

-o-

Strider didn't know how long had passed before he finally collapsed on his bed – all he knew was that now was later, and later had come at last.

"Yeah, you're out of it," Mira laughed as she came into his room.

"How long has it been? Time's a blur," Strider said tiredly.

"All your interviews were the morning of the day before. It's just about closing time. You came up a few hours ago," Mira said.

"I'm never doing a Quest again, Mira. Ever."

"Mhm. Until you do," she said, smirking. She sat on his bed and laid a hand on his chest, gently rubbing down to his stomach. "Are you all right?"

"I am. Just tired. I appreciate the lauding – it's a great ego boost. However, I fear it may soon drain me instead," he said, managing to sit up. "Are you going to be closing soon?"

"Yeah. Just after I finish cleaning up. Everyone made a huge mess," she sighed, running a hand through her hair.

"I'll help," Strider said, getting up. Mira was about to protest, but Strider just took her hand and led her downstairs. He began uprighting chairs and cleaning up as well as he could.

"Not going to use your magic?"

"Not tonight, I think. No, I feel like getting a little bit of a workout. All the better to spend some more time with you," he said, grinning. Mira giggled and nodded. The two passed several hours in relaxed conversation. By the time they had gotten everything cleaned up, it was nearly midnight.

"Ugh. I'm all sticky. I swear – if Natsu or Gray mess it up again tomorrow, I will literally hospitalize them," she grumbled.

"I think I'd help this time. You do this every night?"

"It's usually not this bad," she said.

"Still – I feel like I should take care of it from this point on. It's quicker and easier."

"That's sweet, but still – it's my job," she protested.

"We could probably use that time a bit better," Strider shrugged. "We'll try it out. See what happens."

"Fine," she said, smiling. "Do you mind if I shower before heading home?"

"Not at all. Although, perhaps you ought to stay the night. It's getting late," he said. Mira just gave a little laugh before heading into the shower. Strider sat and began reading, waiting for his turn.

He looked into the book on Herblore. He had gone less than a tenth of the way when he came across a familiar looking plant. Laying the book flat and shining some more light on it, he leaned in, scrutinizing the page.

"Atahyha," he whispered, his eyes widening a little. He knew it by another name: athelas, a powerful herb that had healing & restorative properties.

'How came it here?' Strider asked himself. He knew that he had never bought any plants to Ishgar. Closing the book, he went to the window. The weather had changed; the wind blew wild, and thunderclouds gathered in the distance – no doubt it would begin to rain again soon.

'What's going on?' Strider thought to himself. 'Ungoliant. Fine. The beast was old and no doubt well traveled in ages past. But then Anguirel. It should be lost – how came it here? And now athelas? Mmm… I don't know.'

"Everything all right?" he heard a voice say behind him. Mira had stepped out, her body wrapped by a towel and her hair still wet.

"Yes," Strider said, smiling. "Just thinking. About something."

"I think I can guess," she laughed. "You want to step in? I'm going to dry my hair."

"Sure. I'll see you in a bit," he said, telekinetically closing the book. As he stepped in, Mira sat in his chair. She looked at the book curiously; propping it open, she began to read what interested her as she dried her hair.

'I wonder what he was looking at?' Mira thought before chastising herself for thinking it. Suddenly, another book caught her eye. It had a red cover; she recognized it as one she had seen him read often. She pulled it out and ran her fingers across the cover, begin careful not to get a single drop on it. The book was nigh-tattered; if she didn't take care of it, she thought it might begin to fall apart. She opened it to the first page and read the title:

'The Downfall of the Lord of the Rings and the Return of the King.' Mira whispered aloud. She read pages here and there; it seemed to be almost adventurous. It had been a little while until reached one of extreme interest to her. It was merely entitled, Strider.

"I met Strider at Weathertop," Mira read under her breath. "I remember that he helped us, but I don't remember much after that. I do remember, though, that he was much like Aragorn (their similarity in names must've been a coincidence!). He was a gentleman, although had no problem getting rough when it was warranted. I remember hearing his tales after we were reunited; what great stories they were! Of greatness and ferocity; of precocity and profundity; of valor and, in some cases, vanity; and yet still more of sadness and gladness, of roughness and gentility and that of a genteel nature; of cruelty and bellicosity and peacefulness and generosity. He seems, to me, a simple man; but it belies someone who grew more complex after the death of Anarië…"

"My friend gave that to me. A gift, as it were. He recopied it by hand personally," Strider said as he stepped out. Mira gave him a sheepish look as she closed it.

"Sorry. I didn't mean to peek or anything," she said.

"I don't mind," Strider said, wrapping the towel around his waist. She smirked as she saw him glisten in the moody light.

"So…" Strider began with a little grin. "I'm reminded of a specific promise you made before I left for the Century Quest."

Mira just laughed. "Oh? What promise was that?"

"Something worth coming home to safely," Strider said with a coy smirk. "I think I have an idea of what it is."

"What do you think it is?" Mira asked, closing the distance between them. Strider wasted no time in swooping down and kissing her. Mira giggled into the kiss and hugged him back, bringing him down to her level a bit. She felt him reach down and grab her around her thighs, lifting her up and onto the bed. He laid down on top of her, kissing her with a furious passion. He had gone on for a short while before she pushed him off roughly, bringing a foot to his chest.

"What was that for?" Strider grumbled.

"Mostly because it's fun for me. Especially after all those times you teased me," Mira said. She held her hand out, which Strider took, and hoisted herself up. Making sure her towel was secure, Mira mounted Strider, wrapping her legs around his waist before kissing him gently. Strider got the idea and returned her kiss, just as soft. She felt him ran his hand up a thigh and her side before reaching her cheek, keeping her head in place. As they broke it again, Mira felt him tug a bit at her towel.

"I think you should stay the night," Strider said, moving to her ear.

"We'll see," she said quietly, tugging at his towel. Strider pulled hers away and pulled her closer to him. Her naked breasts pushed against his chest, eliciting a cute blush from her. Mira pushed him down and levitated over him, letting him get the view he had always wanted.

"You're perfect," he whispered.

"Thanks," Mira said, lowering her breasts onto his face. She moaned in pleasure as he took on in his mouth, sucking on it and gently biting her nipple. Strider soon flipped her over, kissing her down her chest before he began to eat her out. Mira moaned in pleasure, her fingers weaving through his hair. Strider kissed the inside of her thighs of her thighs before returning, kissing and tonguing her every which way.

Strider kissed Mira back up her stomach and between her breasts before reaching her lips again. Mira ran her fingers down his chest, tracing some of the scars until she finally took hold of him. She guided him and inside and exclaimed in pleasure as he thrust – at last.

"Yes," she whispered in his ear. "Finally. Fuck me, Strider."

With pleasure, he began to do so. Mira's cries of pleasure only began to grow in tenor as Strider fucked her furiously. She wasn't sure if he was using his magic or not; in fact, she was hardly sure of anything right now. All she knew for certain was that Strider was inside her, that she was wrapped around him, and that her pleasure was sensational.

"That was fun," Strider said, kissing her neck as they showered together. The hours had continued to march on, and Mira still had to go home.

"Mhm," she giggled, taking his hands. She put one atop her breast, the other atop her clit and let him play around. "Really fun. I'm glad we finally did it."

"As am I," Strider said, turning her around and pushing her against the wall. She felt him getting hard again and began stroking.

"As much as I want to, I have to get back home soon," she said.

"I'll accompany you," he said.

"Thanks, but you won't be able to get back until morning," she said.

"Perfect. I'll spend the night with you, then. We'll tell Lisanna & Elfman that I walked you home and it was past closing, so you let me stay because it was raining," Strider said.

"You must've put some thought into that excuse," Mira laughed.

"Oh, you've no idea."

"Fine," Mira acquiesced happily. "About time you stay somewhere else besides the guild, anyway."

"Well, there was that one time with Cana," Strider said thoughtfully.

"Ugh. No other girls while you're with me," she sighed.

"My apologies," Strider said, kissing her. He picked her up and entered again, eliciting a happy sigh from Mira. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him, letting him take her through the motions.

Rather than let Strider use his telekinesis, Mira opted to grab an umbrella and have him carry it. She held onto his arm, her head gently rested against him, as they walked through the now-empty streets or late night Fiore.

"This is nice," Mira said. There was something more enjoyable and serene when the two walked so closely together, the umbrella staving off the rain.

"It is," Strider said, kissing her atop her head. "The city looks beautiful at this hour, in this weather."

"Seriously," Mira agreed. It made for a picture perfect, romantic moment. "You came here in this kind of weather."

"I remember," Strider said, thinking back. "Those were some good weeks. Beautiful weather, beautiful views. I'm almost sorry that we had so much sun afterward."

"I think it'll stay like this for a bit. Winters just about here," Mira said, holding his arm a little tighter.

"Thank goodness. All the better to bask in someone else heat," Strider said, grinning.

"Mhm," she giggled. "I hope Juvia doesn't get to beat up over it. Everyone else gets gloomy, and it starts impacting her."

"I'll help out there. Perhaps I can–"

"Nope. No job besides the one with Asuka and the SS class job. Nothing else until I'm satisfied," Mira said.

"Aren't you satisfied now?" Strider asked, nibbling her ear.

"Oh, that was very satisfying. But I'm still not satisfied that you're completely all right yet. If you keep protesting, I'll keep adding time."

"Ah, fine," Strider grumbled. "What about the guild interchange?"

"Those jobs are usually straightforward, so I'm not worried about that," Mira said; she had been through a few since joining Fairy Guild, and the most trouble she had had was getting lost.

"I'm well acquainted with Mermaid Heel, Lamia Scale, and Blue Pegasus; but I'm curious how it'll end up working out with the other guilds. Sabertooth, at least, seems to be a bit better now. Quatro Cerberus… is Quatro Cerberus. Anyone else?"

"Mmm, I don't think so. Raven Tail is split up, and the rest of the guilds are broken up into their tiers. It's safe to say it's just going to be our six guilds," Mira said.

"Did you ever think of joining another guild?"

"Not even once," Mira said, smiling. "It's always been Fairy Tail for me. It'll always be Fairy Tail for me. I've made so many good friends here, like you and Erza. I like Jenny, but there's no way I could ever join Blue Pegasus. And to many girls in Mermaid Heel; it's nice to have some guys around. There's no other place like it. What about you?"

"Mermaid Heel, maybe, if they'd have me," Strider laughed. "No, I don't think so. Fairy Tail or bust for me, I'm afraid. Although, I'm curious to meet the other Champion wizards. Guilds are ubiquitous amongst countries, no?"

"They are. That's about all I know, as well. Every country has its league of guilds. I haven't ever really heard about them, however. I've heard they know about Fiore's guilds, but news of other countries doesn't reach here often, if at all."

"That's a bit disappointing," Strider mused. "I suppose I'll have to rely on Levy to learn what I can about them."

"It's probably good that you have a guide, honestly. There's probably a lot to learn. Oooh, finally home," Mira said happily, opening the door. Elfman & Lisanna were asleep; Strider cast a little spell to make sure they didn't wake them.

"Shall we head to your room?" Strider asked with a smirk.

"Might as well. I can't make a legend sleep on the couch," Mira giggled. Taking his hand, she led him upstairs. Strider was intrigued to see how plain Mira's room was; a mirror & dresser were against a wall, a window to its right. The tree branch was tapping it softly, while the rain battered it, decidedly less soft. Her bedspread was soft and purple, while a black bookcase stood next to it. Mira worked herself out of her clothes and put them neatly on the dresser, helping Strider do the same; and the next moment, Strider had her on the bed, kissing her good night.

"We already did it a few times," Mira giggled.

"I'm thinking we can get some in before actually having to sleep. We'll be out by first light – before Elfman or Lisanna get up. Or at least, I will be. I don't plan on getting stabbed to death in my sleep by your brother just yet," Strider laughed.

"You'll be fine," Mira said, smirking as Strider took off what little she had left. He kissed her softly and worked his way in, beginning to thrust. Mira wrapped her arms and legs around him, kissing him along his neck as she took in the sensation.

"I've been through a lot in my life; that was terrifying," Strider sighed as he walked Mira back to the guild, under cover of a grey morning, rain, and an umbrella.

"I'm going to start locking my door when I sleep," Mira grumbled. To her dismay, Elfman had come to her room early in the morning, complaining about some creaking noises that he thought were coming from her room. Strider had only just managed to make himself scarce while Mira growled at her brother to leave. Elfman, not wanting to be caught on the wrong end of any of her attacks, quickly acquiesced.

"Did you sleep well?" Strider asked with a knowing smile. Mira giggled and wrapped her arms around his stomach, getting comfortable for the few minutes until they reached the guild.

"Very well," she said glibly. "At least you were gentle that last time. You wouldn't believe how sore I am. Did you use some of your Magic?"

"Not last night, no. Oh, but I've thought up some fun uses for it. I look forward to testing them out," Strider said lasciviously.

"Ha. I bet," she giggled, kissing his cheek.

As they two arrived at the guild, Strider helped her get started for the day. As opposed to getting some rest, he sat at the table Gajeel & Levy usually took.

"Gonna talk to Levy today?" Mira asked, bringing out breakfast.

"I am. It's best I do not put it off any further. I'm hoping Levy can point me to some books that might be useful," Strider said, sipping some hot chocolate.

"Do you plan on visiting the countries?"

"Eventually," Strider said. "Honestly, I want to go into this as blind as possible. I want a surprise. I'm interested in the general makeup of the countries, but I don't care to learn about whom I'm going to be up against."

"Think they might have someone as strong as you?"

"I'm sure they will," Strider said.

"I get the feeling they won't," Mira sighed.

"Speaking of things as strong as me, I'll be taking on the Mount Zonia Century Quest after the Tournament. A few months should be enough time, no?"

"We'll see," Mira said. She wouldn't make any commitment just yet.

-o-

"Hey, Strider!" Levy chirped as she got something to drink for herself, Strider, and Gajeel. "Mira said you wanted to talk to me?"

"Yes. Is now a good time?"

'Sure. What's up?"

"Well, I have these fights coming up with the champions of each of the countries. I was hoping you could tell me a little bit about the countries. Or maybe point me in the direction of some books–" Strider had barely finished when Levy quickly began scribbling on a piece of paper.

"Here you go," she said, passing him a veritable library list of books to peruse. "I've asterisked the best ones for each country – start with those first. The others are just if you want to continue."

"Fantastic. This should be very helpful. Thank you, Levy," Strider said, smiling.

"No problem. Hey, I was wondering if I could ask you something as well," Levy said.

"Oh? What is it?"

"You got some books from the Century Quest, right?"

"I did. You'd like to read them?" Strider asked, smiling.

"Could I?" Levy asked eagerly.

"Of course. Just head on up and take a few. Ah, there's one book with a red cover, though, and one on Herblore. Leave those, please; the former is a personal possession and the latter I'm going through right now."

"No problem! Thanks, Strider!" Levy said, eagerly knocking the seat over before rushing up.

"You've done it now," Gajeel grumbled, following.

-o-

"So, what's the SS Class request?" Strider asked as he rejoined his team, plus Juvia & Cana. Kagura and Jenny headed back, but not without leaving Strider with their call cards and requests to call soon.

"Here you go," Erza said.

SS Class Request: Unknown Creature

Location: Waas Forest

Reward: 80 million jewel

Most recently, we've had adverse experiences with a creature living within the Waas Forest. While there have been no fatalities, we continuously hear a rumbling. The beast has left many carcasses of monsters in its wake; some of them, beasts over 20 feet tall themselves. All seem to have been beaten physically; we've noted crushed skulls, bones, and other inflicted deformities. We're unsure what it is, and we're afraid to go into the forest, for fear of finding out.

"Interesting," Strider whispered; this was precisely the kind of job that piqued his interest.

"Mhm. We'll set out soon," Erza said.

"Can't we do something just a little easier?" Lucy opined.

"10 million jewels per person, Lu," Cana reminded her.

"LETS GO!" Lucy exclaimed, quickly rushing out. Smiling, the others followed.
