Chapter 17: Training

* Morning *

I got up from the bed as I felt a headache remembering last night.

As Gildarts was about to drink the next cup of beer he suddenly stopped as if sensing something. He immediately turned around and what he saw made him smile more.

"Cana my wonderful, adorable, and the cutest daughter in the world you're finally back." He said as he spread open his arms as if expecting a hug from Cana.

Seeing that Cana did not respond he got up from the chair and rushed to hug Cana. Cana got scared by the sudden rushing of the drunk man so she hid behind me. As I look at this drunk man that is rushing, I took out my [Iron Sentry Totem] and stuck it to the ground, and created a shield around us.

Bang!*

Gildarts crashed into the shield with a bang. He rubbed his forehead a bit and seem to be a bit soberer about it he looked at this shield with interest. He knocked the shield a few times as the shield rippled.

"Not bad for your age to be able to create something like this, but it's not enough to stop me. CRUSH!!" He complimented me for a bit and then proceeded to attack with his signature magic Crush.

As his palm touched the shield immediately shattered like glass as the attack continues to us. Seeing this I panicked a bit and urged the [Iron Sentry Totem] I concentrate the attack at the point of attack releasing a shield that is as thick as a wall.

after the palm and the shield collided the palm was stopped by the shield for a second then got shattered by the attack. As the attack near me, I feel fear taking over my body as I felt paralyzed and can't move.

As I was thinking that I and Cana were about to die, The palm stopped above my head and the power seemed to be removed. The big palm then sank on my head and rubbed it a bit, As I was getting confused I heard Gildarts talk.

" Not bad kid, Not bad at all. Quite the interesting toy you got here it's quite strong for your rank." He said with a grin as he looked at the [Iron Sentry Totem] up and down and even went close to touch it.

" But if you're only relying on this to keep yourself safe it's not enough, Come to my house tomorrow I'll teach you with Cana." He said with a slight teaching tone.

"WOW!! What's this turtle totem John?" Cana asked from the side seemingly not bothered by the near-death experience.

"It's a sentry totem that I've made from an Iron shelled tortoise that is blocking the way of three villages. It's strong enough to defend against a middle rank E mage's attack." I spoke with a bit of smug in it.

" Hmph! What if it's Middle rank E mage's attack didn't it still got shattered by Dad's attack." She said seemed not impressed by the totem.

"Why don't you try it then I'll bet you cannot even cause a ripple much less break the shield." I taunted her.

" Hmph! Watch me then I'll show you that I can break this totem." She said as she took a stack of cards from her card case on her waist.

Seeing this I activated the shield of the [Iron Sentry Totem].

"Card Magic! Random Throw!" She shouted as she threw out cards from her card deck which flew to the shield.

Bang!*

A banging sound sounded as the card collided with the shield. After the collision, the card did not do anything to the shield. Seeing this Cana got mad and went to her father.

"Dad I want to learn Crush magic to crush that kid's shield." She said to Gildarts.

Gildarts seeing this flashed me a thumbs up from the side as he hugged Cana.

"Sure anything for my little princess, I'll teach you Crush magic tomorrow." He smiled as he said to Cana.

" Anyway be sure to be on time Little kid for tomorrow's training." Gildarts waved as they go back to their house.

Here I am heading to the house of Gildarts While eating A steamed bun that I made myself with strong nutrients from the ingredients from Mage's Sanctuary.

After I've found the house that Gildarts is living in I pushed the door in as I went inside.

After I've gone inside I noticed that the house is mostly plain looking with a few bottles of wine on a shelf. A bookshelf filled with books about fighting, a carpet at the center of the room with a rocking chair on top of it.

After I've entered I saw Cana sitting on the rocking chair while eating some buns. As she heard the door opening She turned her head to me and smiled and got up and went towards me.

"Good morning John." She greeted me.

" Good morning too Cana" I greeted back.

We chatted and ate breakfast before the entrance of the door opened and in walked Gildarts. Seeing him we quickly finished our food.

" Good Morning Uncle Gildarts." I greeted him.

He seemed irritated by the word uncle but just let it go nonetheless.

" I assumed that You've already eaten breakfast?" Gildarts Asked.

" Yes, Sir"

"Good then tell me what weapon are you planning to specialize in?" He asked.

"I would like to specialize in spears arts, sir."

After that, He went to the bookshelf and search for something. After searching for a while he tossed a book at me.

I quickly caught the book and read its cover. The book has a black cover with white words, On the cover were the words "Basic Spear arts". After reading the title I opened it and started reading it, since it caught my interest.
