Training Maniac

(3rd person POV)

(Teacher)"Concentrate, feel it, don't see it."

(Vorruck)"Got it"

Struggling to hold the shadow shield around himself, Vorruck was practicing even during the time the other got to rest. He was like a man possessed, and the teacher didn't mind and kept tutoring him.

(Teacher)"You ready? I am going to start."

Nodding in confirmation, the teacher then lifted a leather bull whip and lashed it out at him. It was about to reach and hit him but the darkness suddenly stopped it and held it briefly before it fell lifeless to the floor.

(Teacher)"Good, keep it up!"

The whip was easy for the instructor to repeatedly use and he was able to safe with it, even if it hit him the instructor was singing with his full might. Rick also was sticking with him through the constant training but Swiz took a back seat on it, over time they talked less but it didn't bother him anymore since magic got his full focus.

(Vorruck)"Teacher, what would happen if the thing being used to attack was something like torch?"

(Teacher)"At your level, it would pierce the shadow shield and burn you and the robe to death."

(Vorruck)"How long until I can avoid that?!"

(Teacher)"Easy, you will be able to solidify the darkness, it won't get damaged easily then."

After two months of diligently studying he was nearing the finish with the camp, already he learned shadow shield and shadow ball. But the instructor and the elder said he needed to solidify his darkness before he could pass, and be able to merge in darkness. The teacher and the elder were actively aware of his extreme desire to learn magic but they also discussed him.

(Elder)"The kid needs to know more than the basics, he won't live long out there on frontlines with his mindset."

(Teacher)"Don't worry this kid is addicted to studying anything I give him, it won't take him long to grasp it. He and the kid Rick are both already able to pass but we can polish them some more."

(Elder)"Good, I have also ordered a temporary gag order on info related to pass, so they won't know we got them ready for it."

Nodding in agreement, the two were both aware of how horrible the war was and how many friends they lost in it, it was beyond cruel it felt like hell on earth. But their positions prevented them from stopping the two kids rushing into it, so they merely did the best they could for them.

(Elder)"Start training the two in demon tongue too, they can have safer positions that way."

(Teacher)"But that is classified for people who already swore loyalty, can we break that rule?"

(Elder)"Look at them, they are going to the front anyway so might as well give them a chance at living."

After that they pulled Rick and Vorruck into their own lessons away from others, and began training them in more advanced dark magic like solidifying darkness and darkness merge.

(Teacher)"With darkness merge you lose your physical existence and become a literal shadow, however if exposed to light even minimal you get revealed."

(Vorruck)"Isn't that the same as covering yourself in darkness?"

(Teacher)"No, there is one major benefit watch."

Pulling out a knife he held above his hand and chanted for darkness merge and dropped the knife. It went through the hand and fell on the floor, confusing Rick and Vorruck greatly.

(Vorruck)"It went through you? How?"

(Teacher)"Objects that don't emit light don't reach you, but not all objects are like that so watch out. This is essential for war, a stray arrow means death so this allows the arrows to fly through you harmlessly, unless they were modified somehow."
