"We have proof nature's rebellion is moving an army here to conquer this place, since this is an emergency I want to draft everyone willing to defend the town."

Willis calmly was stating the situation in his house where they held the meetings, everyone nodded seriously at his comment. Nobody knew what these nutcases might do if they surrendered to them, and the majority was under succubus influence or a vampire's in some way. So they automatically took the side of fighting back, only the strategy was debated.

"We should push the frontline to them, since we have about two days until they arrive we can build a fortified position and hold them off at it."

"Can't we just use the walls here to defend ourselves?"

Willis disagreed with the sentiment, they were packed in the town. If they fought on the walls and they had a breach it would be over, the civilians would be helpless and their forces would be disorganized.

"We can build a simple structure for the war at this location, it would be a square shape to prevent surprise attacks and we could find them easily."

It was an open field south to them, they knew the enemy was going to march on them from that direction, so it sounded good.

"We can't help if it's daytime, delay the battle until night."

The same vampire from back then with the thin long sword and arrows in him now was his 2nd in command of the army, they both got along great usually. Being two war veterans they both had different understandings of it from the different era of weapons they used, but they both had respect for each other.

"The army can build structures to enable you to engage during the day, we can make a covered area they can defend."

"Alright, but I want a guaranteed escape route for us."

"That's obvious, we won't leave a single man behind."

The former security force, now called the army. Was now 200 strong, and including the emergency volunteers they gathered up they had close to three hundred people in it. The majority of their volunteers were ex-refugee's who wanted revenge, only the army had guns the rest were given spears and throwing weapons.

They began work on a small hill they found, it was the same day as the meeting but despite the setting sun everyone was working hard. The army was only paid in meals still, and they were trained in firing rifles, listening to basic orders and construction for stuff in town. After nightfall the shift changed and Willis went to bed in camp while his 2nd in command Alfred took over.

"We need this place to win, otherwise we will have to flee again."

"I can't wait to shoot those bastards, they chased me out of my century old house."

The vampires were chatting as they worked, they were about eighty in number being also former army people. They had thirty volunteers who also were vampires who helped out, Alfred led them to diligently build the area.

"They are late, did they take a different path?"

"We checked, they didn't, they are just that slow."

They waited for three days, they built the base up non stop. It was a vital battle for their fate, but the enemy was just slowly coming up like it was a picnic. Willis had a weird feeling in him, either they were fighting a schemer who was doing something or a true idiot. Both were scary, an idiot wouldn't recognize defeat easily, and a schemer never gives up.
