After surviving a battle with rank 22, Kardama's confidence had received a slight boost. While he knew he couldn't defeat an awakened student, he realised he could at least hold his ground and make a quick escape if needed.
Thinking he could play it safe, Kardama decided to explore the island, hunting a few monsters and focusing on surviving until the end of the test. However, his plans took an unexpected turn when he stumbled upon a lake bearing signs of a recent massive battle.
Approaching cautiously, he spotted two figures, one of whom he recognised immediately.
'It's the author!'
There was another figure with a similar build nearby. Without much thought, Kardama applied his soul sense to his sight. Instantly, he regretted it. A shiver ran down his spine. Until now, he had never felt as scared as he did in that moment.
