Chapter 770: Come Out And Fight Me, Coward!

Tiny and fine strings suddenly appeared in the amalgamated Domain of Divinity. Although not visible to the naked eye, Han Shuo could clearly sense the fine strings through his soul. After taking a moment to carefully sense them, Han Shuo discovered that these fine strings appeared to be the power of faith emanating from the Profound Continent and the Abyss Realm.

The Power of Faith could increase the power of a god's Domain of Divinity, as well as provide a small but constant stream of divine energy. The divine energy from the Power of Faith might be tiny, but if accumulated over many years, it would become a considerable amount of divine energy.

All the while, Han Shuo could sense the constant stream of minuscule divine energy that came from the power of faith offered by his believers. He had never observed the power of faith having any effect on his Domain of Divinity. But now, for the first time, Han Shuo could feel it clearly.

The string-like Power of Faith emerged from within the merged Domain of Divinity and travelled in trajectories consistent with the Edict of Destruction. The fine strings were constantly twisting, vibrating and spinning around Han Shuo. The strings would interact and twist together to form thicker strings.

This could only be felt by Han Shuo's divine soul and could not be observed visually.

The Element of Death was moving even more wildly towards the Domain of Divinity. Suddenly, the Boundaries of Aging, Fear and Weakness spontaneously formed in the Domain of Divinity, even though Han Shuo made no effort to do so. The Boundaries were filled with fine strings. It seemed as if the fine strings could absorb the constant stream of the Element of Death pouring into the domain and use it to alter the structure of the three Boundaries.

Suddenly, the power of the three Boundaries began to increase exponentially. The area of effect expanded rapidly, quickly overlapping with the entire Domain of the Gods.

The power of the Strings of Faith bound with the Element of Death gushed into the domain, twisting and warping around Han Shuo in accordance with the Edict of Destruction. They were constantly changing and altering the boundaries, causing their power to grow stronger and stronger.

"Huh?!" exclaimed Rose. She suddenly spotted an abnormal energy flow from Han Shuo's location and quietly exclaimed, "What's going on?"

Han Shuo was suddenly awakened from his trance. He immediately realised that now was not the time to slowly enjoy his new Domain of Divinity. By now, Anker and the Midgod of Destruction were dead and their divine energies had been completely consumed. Han Shuo manoeuvred his flying swords to stab at their bodies, causing them to melt away.

Rose's long silver hair was stained with blood. As she stood coldly on the corpse covered ground, she stared at Han Shuo with her bright eyes filled with astonishment and confusion.

The group of several dozen divine guards led by Anker had all been slaughtered by Rose and Han Shuo. There were no survivors. Through his demon generals, Han Shuo sensed that numerous experts from the House of Simon were rapidly approaching the area. He commanded, "Move!" and retreated with Rose.

Shortly after the duo left, Westin and Chandler arrived on the scene, along with a few hundred elite divine guards from their family clan.

It was a devastating and horrifying scene, with incomplete bodies covering every inch of the ground. Anker's partially melted body was rapidly liquefying.

It was clear and obvious from Anker's melting body who was responsible for the terrible crime. Westin had never felt so angry. The power of his House of Simon had diminished greatly. And now, as if it could not get any worse, his clan had lost another Highgod. To make matters worse, Anker was a sibling of his wife. Westin began to wonder how he could justify the losses to his wife and his clan.

"Patriarch, what should we do?" asked Chandler, "Not only do they have terrifying strength, but they are also very stealthy. How can we find them and kill them?"

Unlike Anker, Chandler had personally witnessed how deadly Han Shuo and Rose were. As a member of the House of Simon, Chandler hated Han Shuo and Rose to the bone. But aside from hatred, Chandler also felt fear. He knew that even he was no match for this callous-looking and handsome young man in a one-on-one fight. He had been very cautious, keeping his divine guards close to him for fear of losing his life.

It was because of his caution that Han Shuo did not seek him out, but instead chose the naive Anker. Anker's death was very disturbing for Chandler. He feared that he would be Han Shuo's next target.

Westin suddenly shouted, after remaining silent with a dark face, "Send out signals and tell them that the murderers are near this area! Then, after a short pause, he continued, "We must all stay close together, no one will split from the group. Our understanding of the attacker was wrong; he was not seriously injured. Otherwise, they would not risk such an attack".

Chandler was stunned. He glanced around quickly before asking in a low voice, "Patriarch, are you suggesting that the City Lord lied?"

Westin shook his head, let out a soft sigh and explained, "The City Lord wouldn't make that kind of joke at a time like this. Besides, from what I know of his character, he wasn't one to tell lies." Westin turned to Chandler, looked him in the eyes and continued, "The City Lord's account is not false. The fact that the injured murderer did not try to escape, but is hunting us, can only mean one thing - he is stronger than the City Lord!"

Chandler's face shook. After taking a moment to consider Westin's words, his expression became even more horrified. Somehow, Chandler began to think about the Overgods without the Quintessence. The fear in his heart grew even stronger. In a slightly nervous manner, he asked, "Then what shall we do?"

"We have to give up trying to kill them. Our family clan has suffered too many losses. What we must do now is get our men safely out of the mountains," Westin said with a helpless and humiliated face. He paused for a moment before continuing, "If other clans want to try to get them, let them try. It is time for them to suffer some losses as well. Otherwise, when the ordeal is over, our House of Simon's place in Hushveil City will probably be threatened.

As patriarch of the House of Simon, Westin has sometimes had to make unpopular and difficult decisions for the good of his family clan. The great insight and wisdom Westin had gained from countless years of battle had allowed him to correctly judge that Han Shuo would reappear at the city gate. And now it allowed him to make the right decision - to surrender.

Thanks to the Invincible Omen Body, Westin had overestimated Han Shuo's strength. Although Westin and his forces had given up the hunt, Han Shuo now had a new problem.

During the attack on Anker and his forces, although Rose did not see Han Shuo consuming Anker's divine energy as they were covered by the seventeen flying swords, Rose did see him consuming the divine energy of a Midgod of Destruction. She could not be more amazed by Han Shuo's actions.

On Elysium, the Godhunters were universally hated characters. Her heart was filled with horror as she watched Han Shuo consume the divine energy of the Midgod who cultivated in the Edict of Destruction. Han Shuo being an abominable Godhunter was the last thing Rose had expected.

Ever since they had successfully escaped from the crime scene, Rose had been staring at him with questioning and judgmental eyes, making Han Shuo feel uncomfortable. Han Shuo finally stopped moving after arriving at a tree and hiding under its lush leaves. He gathered his courage and asked, "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Are you a Godhunter?" asked Rose as she looked deeply at Han Shuo.

"I am not!" Han Shuo firmly denied. He then explained to Rose with a poker face, "Godhunters are those who could not control the desires in their hearts. Their minds are corrupted by greed. Their only wish and desire is to devour other people's divine energy to increase their own power. They have an alliance made up of people like themselves. As long as they live, they will always try to hunt and kill others for divine energy!

"You don't have to tell me. I have lived on Elysium longer than you and I know a lot about the Godhunters," after a short pause Rose continued calmly, "Don't tell me you are different from them?"

"Of course I'm different!" Han Shuo smiled faintly and explained, "I have overcome that greed. My mind is free of the insatiable desire to devour divine energy. Even if you put a helpless man in front of me, I can choose not to consume his divine energy. The Godhunters are powerless against their insatiable greed. I'm different in that I have full control of my mind and rationality. My mind is not corrupted.

"I don't believe that. I have never known or heard of anyone who has been able to overcome this addiction. Once you start, you never stop!" Rose's narrow eyebrows knit tightly together. She let out a soft sigh and said, "Why are you like this?"

Han Shuo smiled faintly and replied, "I am not. You should know best! If I'm a Godhunter, all I do is consume other people's divine energy. For all the time you have been with me, is my only goal and purpose has been to consume other people's divine energy?"

Rose stared blankly for a moment after hearing Han Shuo's reply. She thought carefully for a moment and realised that his words did make sense. Rose had been following Han Shuo for quite some time. She knew that a Godhunter would feel uneasy if he had not consumed divine energy for a while and would always look for a chance to strike.

It's been a while since Rose became Han Shuo's servant and she was always around Han Shuo. During the time she spent with Han Shuo, she did not observe any signs of divine energy addiction from Han Shuo. Not only did he seem perfectly normal, he even seemed to have an extremely tenacious mind and strong willpower, a man in full control of his mind and body.

It was clear from his performance and behaviour that he was different from the Godhunters. After a long moment of thought, Rose asked sceptically, "No one has ever overcome this addiction, but you can?"

"I'm sure there are others who have also managed to overcome the addiction, it's just that most people don't know about them," Han Shuo smiled and said, "You will see the truth in time, as we will spend a lot more time together.

"I'll take your word for it for now," Rose replied. Suddenly, as if she had remembered something, she exclaimed, "Right, I remember that when you were consuming the divine energy of the Midgod, you were also fighting divine guards somewhere else. Did you use that strange life form to devour the divine energy for you? If that's the case, you won't be affected by the addiction!"

Han Shuo knew that since they would be spending at least the next hundred years together, Rose would learn of the existence of his avatars sooner or later. But Han Shuo did not want to explain too much right now as it was quite complicated. After a moment of hesitation, Han Shuo replied, "Something like that.

Rose could tell that Han Shuo had no interest in explaining it in detail. Although she was very curious about Han Shuo, she did not question him further.

After escaping from the scene of the crime, Han Shuo spent some time monitoring his prey with his demon generals. He saw that the divine guards of the House of Simon were all gathered in a group. He knew that Westin was now on guard and it would not be easy to attack his forces again.

Other family clans from Hushveil City, having received Westin's signal, rushed to the area. Seeing that more and more divine guards would be there, Han Shuo and Rose quickly evacuated the area.

By the time City Lord Hofs and others arrived, Han Shuo and Rose were long gone. They searched the area thoroughly once again. Of course, the search yielded no results.

Soon enough, the search party split up again by family clan to continue searching the mountain range. The Divine Guard Chiefs from Hushveil City also joined the search. Some would be in a team with their family clan members, while others would be searching with their men.

For the next half month, whenever Han Shuo had the chance, he would attack the forces of Hushveil City and quickly retreat before reinforcements could arrive. Nearly a hundred divine guards and two Highgods from the Hofley and Granro families lost their lives during this time.

No matter how careful Hofs and the others were, some of their men would inevitably fall to Han Shuo and Rose. Once the search party had dispersed to a certain extent, some of them would die horrible deaths. And no matter how fast they rushed to the scene and how hard they searched, they would always fail to find Han Shuo and Rose. In this vast mountain range, Han Shuo and Rose were like two invisible predators, slaughtering the helpless divine guards of Hushveil City left and right.

All the ordinary divine guards were gripped with fear. Even some of the Highgods were terrified. The search party no longer dared to spread out, staying close together. They dared not downplay the danger of the two stealthy assassins.

"Stop hiding and running like a coward! Come out and fight me alone if you have the courage! I will not bring a single divine guard with me! Come to me!" roared Hofs. His voice carried far and wide.

Hofs was out of character and seemed to have been driven mad. His behaviour at that moment was unbecoming of a City Lord. All his calmness and composure had been exhausted during the draining and frustrating half-month.

When he shouted loudly, he would fly away from his group on his own. If any of the divine guards tried to follow Hofs, he would immediately glare at them and yell, "Back the fuck off! Stay away from me!"

He was serious about his duel with Han Shuo!

The divine guards were very afraid of Hofs at that moment. They were more than willing to follow his orders and stay away from him. The experts from the House of Hofley originally wanted to go with Hofs. But after some thought, and remembering the strength that Hofs possessed, they felt that there was no need to worry about his safety.

Hofs in this extremely irascible state was a torment to everyone around him. The divine guards of the House of Hofley even secretly rejoiced at his departure.

"Show yourself, fucker! Come at me!" yelled Hofs as he retreated further and further from the search party.

Hofs' scream of rage was extremely loud. Han Shuo and Rose, who were several hundred miles away, could clearly hear his words. Rose giggled adorably before she softly said to Han Shuo, "Listen to that guy, you almost drove him crazy!"

Over the course of half a month, Han Shuo had amply demonstrated to Rose that he was in full control of his own mind, untainted by any uncontrolled desire for divine energy. If Rose said no, Han Shuo could always stop consuming the divine energy of those divine guards. After repeatedly demonstrating that he had no trouble controlling his actions, Rose was finally convinced that Han Shuo was different from the Godhunters.

Rose was astonished by this fact. She no longer stopped Han Shuo from consuming divine energy. Rose understood that although Han Shuo was doing the same thing as the Godhunters, he was not a Godhunter, but rather something above their caste.

"He's gone mad!" Han Shuo nodded and agreed. After half a month of consuming divine energy, both of his avatars had accumulated a critical amount of it and would need to spend time digesting the energy. After the digestion was complete, any breakthroughs would depend on the avatars' own ability to comprehend the energies they cultivated within.

"I think it's time we left. The divine guards will all stick together and won't give us a chance to strike," Rose suggested.

Han Shuo smiled and shook his head. He replied, "That's not entirely true. When Rose wore a puzzled expression, Han Shuo continued, "The divine guards are definitely all sticking close together. But didn't one of them just leave the group all by himself?"

Rose stared blankly for a moment before exclaiming, "You want to fight the City Lord of Hushveil City? He is a Late-stage Highgod! He has lost his mind. Don't tell me you've lost your mind too?"

Han Shuo nodded and replied with a smile, "He has amply demonstrated his sincerity. How could I disappoint him?"
