CHAPTER 706: Getting Rich

All the medicinal pellets Han Shuo had on the shelves were sold out that day. He pocketed a total of ninety-six thousand black crystal coins. Han Shuo was overjoyed, knowing that with this amount of black crystal coins, he wouldn't have to worry about money for at least ten years.

Before leaving the Celestial Pearl Pharmacy, all of his customers would ask Han Shuo to reserve them a portion of the next batch of medicine he would produce. Carmelita, after seeing that Han Shuo had sold all the medicine, hurried back to the Saint Residence to continue consuming the medicine that Han Shuo had made especially for her.

It was only after everyone had left that Han Shuo remembered Donna and the few youngsters from her Laver family. He thought that Donna had come with Cage and Eve to thank him. It never occurred to him that Donna was going to denounce him.

Han Shuo was rather puzzled that Donna did not enter his pharmacy. He had reserved some medicine for her and had not expected her to disappear like that. Han Shuo assumed that Donna had left because it was too busy and that she would come back another day.

After closing the front door of his pharmacy, Han Shuo indulged himself by counting the black crystal coins in his space ring over and over again. He laughed foolishly as he muttered, "Ninety-six thousand black crystal coins... this is enough to buy a mansion in the City of Shadows - not just any mansion, but a fully furnished one with all the facilities... how amazing!"

All of the medicinal ingredients he had collected since arriving in Elysium were used in the medicinal pellets he was selling. Even though Han Shuo had already earned ninety-six thousand black crystal coins, if he wanted to make even more money, he would have to go out and collect more medicinal ingredients.

Since only Han Shuo knew the ingredients needed to make his medicinal pills, he could not delegate the task and had to do it himself. He put another sign on the front door of Celestial Pearl Pharmacy, saying that it was temporarily closed for business. Then he left the City of Shadows and headed towards the mountains on its outskirts.

There were long stretches of mountains all along the City of Shadows where the herbs and ingredients Han Shuo needed grew. After the experience of selling all his medicines, Han Shuo decided to gather even more medicinal ingredients than before.

By releasing the demon generals in the Cauldron of Myriad Demon , Han Shuo had an additional dozen pairs of eyes. As a result, his speed in gathering medicinal ingredients increased tenfold or more. In just one month, Han Shuo had travelled through all the major mountains surrounding the city. He had filled two space rings with medicinal ingredients alone - enough for Han Shuo to refine medicinal pills for an entire year.

Since the mountains surrounded the City of Shadows, they were as safe as a walk through the city. No enemy forces or Godhunters dared to lurk there. In the month that Han Shuo had been gathering medicinal ingredients, he had encountered divine guards from the City of Shadows fifty-seven times. They often patrolled the mountains in small teams, guarding the city against large-scale invasions.

Most of these divine guards did not recognise Han Shuo. They would find Han Shuo very suspicious at first. But after Han Shuo flashed the emblem that City Lord Wallace had given him, all of those divine guards would greet Han Shuo with the utmost respect. Not only would they apologise to Han Shuo, but they would even report to him any abnormal activities they discovered in the area. They assumed that Han Shuo belonged to the Sainte family.

A month passed in the blink of an eye. When Han Shuo returned to his Celestial Pearl Pharmacy, he was stunned by what he saw.

Han Shuo had not expected to find his Celestial Pearl Pharmacy in total ruins. All the containers and tools on the first and second floors were shattered. The special apothecary bottles and pots that Han Shuo had purchased were all shattered. Not a single tool was left intact.

Even the energy stones in the boundary towers on the third floor were shattered. From the first floor to the third floor, the entire Celestial Pearl Pharmacy was a complete mess. The more Han Shuo saw, the angrier he became. He had no idea who would do such a despicable thing while he was gone.

With a dark face, Han Shuo stomped from the first floor to the third floor and back again. He turned over in his mind who was most likely to do such a thing.

The first thing that crossed his mind was the Laver siblings, Cage and Eve. They were the first two people Han Shuo had insulted after arriving at Elysium. The other person he suspected was the golden-haired young man named Edmund who first visited his shop with Jiya. At that time, Edmund wanted to destroy his shop, but was stopped by Anito's prompt arrival.

Other than those few, Han Shuo could not think of anyone else who would want to hurt him like that. He had not been in the City of Shadows for long and had only made enemies with a few people in the city.

Han Shuo's return quickly attracted Anito's attention. He rushed to the shop with a group of divine guards. When he entered, he saw Han Shuo with a dark face sitting silently on a chair with one leg missing. Anito's heart stopped. "Did you find any clues or leads?" Han Shuo leaned back on the broken chair and rocked it gently while he questioned Anito with a cold face.

Han Shuo had only offended a few people in the City of Shadows. If it wasn't Edmund, then it had to be Cage and Eve. When Han Shuo thought of those two, he became even more furious. He thought to himself, "If it wasn't for me, Eve would have been disfigured. So this is how you repay me? By destroying my shop while I'm away? Have I become a target for you?

Han Shuo decided to pay a visit to the Laver Residence.

The divine guards who guarded the front door of the Laver residence still remembered Han Shuo. His rising fame in the City of Shadows had been the talk of many members of the House of Lavers. The two recognised Han Shuo immediately and greeted him from afar. They were very friendly.

"Haha, I had no idea that you, sir, were an amazing apothecary. Everyone in town has been fighting over your medicine!" the divine guard who had introduced Han Shuo to the Laver family members earlier said excitedly.

"As a gesture of gratitude for the warning you gave me last time, here is a small bottle of medicine," Han Shuo naturally remembered the two warm divine guards and gave them two bottles of his rejuvenation pill.

"Thank you, thank you," the smiles on their faces grew even wider. They knew how much a Rejuvenation Pill was currently valued in the City of Shadows. Just one small bottle of it was worth three years of their salaries. It would be strange if they were anything but overjoyed!

"Are you looking for Miss Donna? That's unfortunate. Miss Donna has left for the Space Dominion. She will definitely not return for at least a year!" a divine guard told Han Shuo somewhat regretfully after carefully keeping Han Shuo's rejuvenation pill away from him.

Unknown to Han Shuo, during the time he had been gathering medicinal ingredients in the surrounding mountains, Donna had been trying to find him at Celestial Pearl Pharmacy. She wanted to ask Han Shuo about what had really happened to Eve and stay in contact with him. She also wanted to buy some medicine on behalf of the House of Lavers.

"Oh... Donna isn't here..." Han Shuo hesitated, wondering if he should still enter. After all, out of the entire Lavers family, Donna was the only person Han Shuo was familiar with.

"Hey... Isn't that Bryan? Why are you standing at the front door? Come, come, let's go inside," a voice sounded from the distance at the most inopportune moment. In an instant, Teng Fei appeared in front of Han Shuo and pulled him into the Laver residence as if he had been friends with Han Shuo for a long time.

Han Shuo was forced into the Lavers Residence by Teng Fei. Having missed the opportunity to leave, he had to put on a brave face and enter.

"Donna and her brother have gone to the Space Dominion and will not be back for some time. Donna and I actually tried to look for you, but you weren't at the Celestial Pearl Pharmacy..." Teng Fei explained as he led Han Shuo to the gymnasium where they first met.

"Since Donna is not here, I think I'll leave. I only came here to look for her. I don't know any other member of the Laver family besides Donna. I better not stay here any longer," Han Shuo suddenly stopped walking and refused to let Teng Fei pull him any further.

""Come on, you are here, you might as well stay and chat with me. My stay in this Laver residence has become increasingly unpleasant lately. This brother and sister pair, well, they're not exactly people who get things done. I just can't get along with them!" Ever since Teng Fei decided to buy Han Shuo's medicine, his relationship with Cage and Eve had become less and less harmonious. Since Teng Fei actually secretly looked down on them, he naturally made no effort to ease the tension. In fact, he took the opportunity to distance himself from the siblings and was determined to improve his relationship with Han Shuo and Donna.

"I will not argue with a mentally handicapped person. Forget it, it seems that this House of Lavers does indeed not welcome me. I'm leaving," Han Shuo waved his hand and turned to leave. He felt that it was pointless to argue with these people, even though it was to his disadvantage to do so inside the Lavers' residence.

"Since when could a mere Lowgod who happens to know how to make some drugs act so arrogantly in the City of Shadows? Pfft, serves you right that your shop got trashed. That's what you get for not knowing your place! Hahaha..." Cage said as he cackled in an invigorated manner.

Han Shuo, who was walking out of the Laver Residence, immediately stopped in his footsteps when he heard Cage's words. He stared at the belly laughing Cage with cold eyes and asked, "Is it you who did this?"

Cage was startled for a moment before he sneered, "None of your business... Who cares if I did it or not, you deserve it!"

Han Shuo nodded and walked out without saying another word, ignoring Teng Fei's screams.

That night, three energy crystal shops, nominally owned by Avery Lavers but actually run by Cage and Eve, exploded. A total of seven divine guards of the House of Lavers were injured in the blasts, and energy crystals worth thirty thousand Black Crystal Coins were destroyed.

Early in the morning of the second day, Cage was furious at the news. He jumped up and down in a rage. "It's him, it's got to be him! I'm going to get him!" With these words out of his mouth, and without informing his father Avery, Cage took a group of divine guards under his command and headed straight for the Celestial Pearl Pharmacy.
