Step by step, Han Shuo made his way to the bottom of the Cemetery. The barriers that had once given Han Shuo some resistance no longer had any effect on him. He descended through the levels with ease, but stopped just before he crossed the barrier at the last level.
Although Han Shuo knew that this layer of the barrier would present him with no obstacle, he had simply become accustomed to stopping and examining the barriers. He fixed his eyes on the barrier in front of him and carefully examined it with his soul.
After becoming a lowgod, Han Shuo really did not have much expectation for the so-called secret to becoming a god that was hidden in the lowest layer.
After spending time in the Abyss Realm, Han Shuo had a rough idea of what he would discover there. After all, he had used two of his souls to reach the lowgod realm. Of course, this information about how to become a god did not intrigue him. However, the reason he was so eager to investigate it was because it had always been his wish to enter the final layer of the Cemetery of Death. He also wanted to see if there were any materials stored there that might be useful to him.
The barrier before him was formed with pure mental power. After receiving the divine soul of a midgod, Han Shuo recognised the barrier's function and method of use with a single glance. Instead of forcibly breaking through the barrier as he had done before, Han Shuo simply stretched out his hands and laid them against the invisible barrier. His mental power made a single pulsation and the barrier seemed to turn to liquid, allowing him to pass through without much resistance.
Han Shuo entered the last and final layer of the cemetery. After looking around, Han Shuo spotted a diamond-shaped lens in the centre. Behind the lens was a simple magical matrix for storing mental power. There was nothing of value around the chamber, which disappointed Han Shuo somewhat.
With just one glance at the lozenge lens, Han Shuo immediately realised that it was a special mechanism for leaving messages. Han Shuo walked to the front of the rhomboid lens and placed his hand on it. The aura of the Skeletal Staff inside his body flowed into it. The next thing he knew, the rhomboid lens began to glow.
An indistinct figure appeared inside the rhomboid lens, and then that familiar voice sounded from the middle of the lens, "My child, I'm very happy that you have come to this stage. Being here also means that you are now a sacred magus. Very well done. However, I must tell you that in our eyes, becoming a Sacred Magus is only the very first infant step. Now, let me tell you the secrets to becoming a god. Remember this well... "
It It was exactly what Han Shuo had expected. The so-called secret to becoming a god was precisely the method of merging one's body and soul with the element, something Han Shuo had understood long ago. However, the explanations contained in the lens were very detailed. The person had a deeper understanding of this matter than Han Shuo, and Han Shuo learned a thing or two.
The lens was set to play the recorded message when activated. Han Shuo stood still and listened to the message in silence.
After describing the secrets to becoming a god once, the message did not stop immediately. It continued, "As long as you have memorised all of this and truly understand it, becoming a god will not be that difficult. But after that, if you want to progress even further and gain even greater strength, seek out the dark dragons of the underground world and show them my skeletal staff. Ask them for the way to the lowest level of the underground world. There you will find great rewards!
"The Cemetery of Death isn't just a place to hide. It also has an attack mechanism. First of all..."
"Inside the skeletal staff, you will find a deeper level of my understanding of the energy of death, as well as basic knowledge of the material planes. If you can master them, we might even have a chance to meet in person..."
"Finally, good luck!"
The figure inside the diamond lens began to flash until the lens cracked and disintegrated.
Since Han Shuo was already a god, the information inside the lens wasn't too exciting for him. After listening to the message left by this person, Han Shuo forced a smile and shook his head. He really hadn't found anything special or useful.
The only thing that puzzled Han Shuo was the mention of the last layer of the underground world. According to him, it was at the very bottom of the Underground World that the way for the gods to progress was laid out.
Han Shuo remembered that back then, the dark dragons had been attacked and interrogated by a group of experts from the Shrine of Ice led by Ice Celestial Corey. They were searching for the way to the last layer of the underground world. He had previously learned from Gilges, the Patriarch of the Dark Dragons, that the race of Dark Dragons lived in the Underworld to guard and protect the path leading to the final layer, as ordered by the original Master of the Skeletal Staff.
Upon reflection, he thought that there might indeed be something miraculous in the deepest layer of the underground world. Otherwise, those from the shrine of Ice wouldn't have travelled thousands of miles just to explore the underground, and the owner of the Skeletal Staff wouldn't have been so worried about it for so long.
Perhaps it was because his strength had grown by leaps and bounds, Han Shuo was no longer expectant or excited about many things. After thinking about the message, Han Shuo was sure that he had learned nothing new.
His Avatar of Death walked back to the interplanar transport matrix and sat cross-legged in the same spot. He drew out a Divine Essence of Death he had obtained from the Void and silently digested the elemental energy of death it contained.
This Divine Essence of Death was extremely valuable, and it hadn't been easy for Han Shuo to obtain. It could be of tremendous use to him in increasing his divine energy. Han Shuo treasured the item very much.
Han Shuo planned to reunite all three souls before heading to the headquarters of the Calamity Church. However, his Avatar of Destruction had yet to fully recover, while his main body, which had used up a large amount of demonic yuan refining the spirit demons, also needed some time to recover. Therefore, Han Shuo decided to let his Avatar of Death absorb the piece of divine essence during this time, as well as properly digest the experience he had gained from the great battle earlier.
Inside the cemetery of death, all three of Han Shuo's bodies sat cross-legged in silence. They were either recovering their energy or absorbing more.
Time passed quickly and unnoticed. After an indeterminate amount of time, when all three of his bodies had fully recovered, Han Shuo finally left the cemetery of death.
The three spirit demons were still in hibernation. Han Shuo knew that since Spirit Demons possessed the ability to constantly evolve, they would take a much longer time to refine compared to other types of Demon Generals. Upon completion, the spirit demons would wait patiently for Han Shuo to collect them. Han Shuo didn't have to keep an eye on them all the time, so he felt comfortable separating from the spirit demons.
Han Shuo had no idea how long he had been in the Cemetery. After leaving the cemetery, Han Shuo silently returned to Ossen City. Once there, he left a trail that would lead him to Wolf. Wolf had probably been waiting for information about Han Shuo all along, because very soon after Han Shuo left the trail, Wolf was at Han Shuo's door.
"Lord Bryan, where have you been? Why have you suddenly disappeared for a whole month?"
"Oh, nothing much. I went to cultivate for a while," Han Shuo replied smiling.
"Wow, I really did not expect your lordship to still be cultivating so hard even though you have become so powerful. This is truly admirable," Burt Zili, who had come along with Wolf, said sincerely as he looked at Han Shuo in awe.
"Lord Bryan, His Highness the Pope has already rushed us several times. If Your Lordship doesn't go to headquarters soon, I have reason to believe that His Highness might actually come down here in person," Wolf said hastily.
"Oh? Why so anxious all of a sudden?" the last time they met, Wolf had said that the Pope of the Church of Calamity had told them not to rush things. So Han Shuo was puzzled to see that Wolf had suddenly begun to push.
"Your Lordship's noble act of killing the Light Pope and the two demigods has caused an enormous shock at the headquarters. His Highness the Pope and all the Cardinals are wild with joy. They want to thank Your Lordship in person. After all, Your Lordship's behaviour and deeds are simply too brilliant! Burt Zili rushed to reply before Wolf could open his mouth.
Han Shuo was at a loss for words. He smiled at the adoring Burt Zili and the excited Wolf before asking, "So, did you take advantage of the situation to make strikes against the Church of Light?"
"Of course!" Wolf couldn't hide the excitement in his heart at the mention of the matter. He cheerfully said, "Thanks to your lordship's magnificent feat, in addition to the Lancelot Empire's strong denunciation of the Church of Light, the Church of Light's reputation on the continent has taken a devastating plunge. Since Your Lordship had killed the Pope of Light, the morale of the Church of Light was at its lowest ebb. Naturally, we didn't want to miss the opportunity to hit them when they were down. In just one month, we destroyed over a hundred Church of Light churches across the continent and killed several thousand of their followers. Haha, this is truly delightful. If this trend continues, it won't be long before our Church of Calamity can come out of hiding and operate in the dark, and openly spread our religion in every country!
Han Shuo was also pleased with the news. Perhaps because Han Shuo cultivated in the energy of death and destruction, he had always disliked the Church of Light. The Church of Light also considered him to be the greatest heretic on the Profound Continent and had spared no effort to eliminate him. When Han Shuo was imprisoned in the Abyss Realm, he vowed to completely destroy the Church of Light. It was only natural for Han Shuo to be pleased when he heard from Wolf how miserable things were in the Church of Light.
"This is all your lordship's meritorious achievement. Had Your Lordship not slaughtered the Pope of Light and the two demigods, our Church of Calamity would not have been able to attack the Church of Light so easily. Only a being like your lordship would be able to bring down a powerhouse like the Church of Light all by himself. This lowly servant simply doesn't know how to put his admiration for Your Lordship into words! Burt Zili gladly licked Han Shuo's boots without any sense of shame.
"Okay, enough!" Han Shuo also had an ego to satisfy. . He laughed at the great feeling of being praised like that. Soon after, he said happily, "Let's go.
I'll go to headquarters with you.
