Han Shuo could hear Phoebe's painful cries loud and clear. His heart ached. However, Phoebe was just too possessive and her actions were just too harsh, which also made him very uncomfortable.
"Is, is she all right?" seeing Han Shuo's sombre appearance, Lisa hung her head down as if she had done something wrong and asked Han Shuo in a low voice.
Han Shuo forced an unattractive smile, sighed and comforted Lisa, "It's okay. She will be fine after crying."
Fanny and Emily did not catch up with them. The thought of the two of them now trying to calm Phoebe made Han Shuo feel much more relieved.
After being in a relationship with the three of them for so long, this was the very first time that Han Shuo had gotten angry. Although he knew that he was the one to blame, he simply could not control his own temper.
Phoebe had always been the most resistant. In fact, she had reacted quite violently when his relationship with Emily and Fanny was first revealed to her. Reacting obnoxiously seemed to have become a habit for her. Whenever Han Shuo had an affair with a lady, Phoebe would fly into a terrible rage out of jealousy. Han Shuo would then have to constantly flatter and soothe her with kind words and beg for her understanding.
Han Shuo understood in his heart that the reason for all this was that Phoebe's love for him was simply too deep.
But Phoebe had flown into a rage again and again; it was becoming too much. Besides, the did was cast. It was impossible for Han Shuo to take Phoebe's side alone. If she was allowed to be a troublemaker in the future, it would not only annoy Han Shuo to the point of nervousness, but she might also demand an extra mile after being given an inch.
Han Shuo was not the kind of man who would let his women sit on his head forever. Maybe it would be better if he blew up every now and then. Had it not been for Phoebe's overly harsh and unfriendly language, Han Shuo would most likely have reassured her with kind words, as he always did, and slowly dispelled the dissatisfaction in Phoebe's heart.
"How about I go back and explain it to her?" Lisa said shyly to Han Shuo. She was very considerate of Han Shuo and felt ashamed of herself.
Han Shuo shook his head, forced a smile and replied, "Forget it. Right now, she'll just find you annoying, I'm sure. I'm well aware of Phoebe's stubborn temper. It's better to let her calm down for now."
"Bryan, I'm sorry!" Lisa stared blankly for a moment before saying with a guilty look on her face. She was about to cry again.
Han Shuo stroked Lisa's smooth, long hair and reassured her, "It's not your fault. Phoebe has been hiding this for a long time. It was only a matter of time before she broke out. It's not that bad. All right, all right, stop thinking too much. For now, just keep your mind on understanding the stuff in your head. As it happens, I have some business to attend to and will be leaving for a while. When I return, I will look for Phoebe and have a chat with her. I think she will have calmed down by then and will actually be open to a logical conversation."
"Okay. Please come back as soon as you can. I'll miss you," Lisa lifted her head to look at Han Shuo and said in an endearing voice.
After talking to Han Shuo for a while, Lisa returned to the school of necromancy. Han Shuo circled around Phoebe with his consciousness and saw that she was no longer crying as Emily and Fanny comforted her. He was a little more relieved and silently left the Babylon Academy of Magic and Strength.
Han Shuo sought out Ayermike Cotton and communicated with him briefly before leaving Ossen City.
Using the magical transport matrices found in major cities, Han Shuo quickly made his way to the Cemetery of Death in the Dark Forest. Inside, his two avatars were still slowly and silently recovering from the injuries they had sustained in the recent battle. Since there was a strong presence of the element of death in the cemetery, his avatar cultivating in the element of death was recovering faster. It wouldn't be long before he was as good as new.
The Avatar of Destruction was recovering more slowly, but full recovery wasn't too far away.
Han Shuo had returned to the Cemetery of Death to uncover what was at the bottom layer of the structure, as well as to refine Spirit Demons, the highest level of Demon General, using the three souls he had recently collected.
With his Death Avatar still recovering, Han Shuo did not rush to explore the so-called secret of becoming a god in the final layer of the Cemetery of Death. Instead, he began by using the formation to refine a spirit demon.
After his twelve mystical demons had perished, Han Shuo had been on the lookout for the materials needed to refine spirit demons. In the Abyss Realm, Han Shuo had acquired large quantities of rare and uncommon materials. In addition to what he had looted on the Profound Continent over the years, he had collected all the materials needed to refine a spirit demon.
-Except for the most important part of the equation. He hadn't started earlier because he hadn't come to possess powerful souls. But now that he had collected the souls of the Pope of Light, the Old Shaman and the Demigod Magus, he could finally begin.
Han Shuo began by etching the empty ground in front of the Cemetery according to the memory in his head. He carved out a complex diagram of a formation. To continue, he summoned the Earth Elite Zombie and asked him to cut the ground carefully and neatly. Once the initial decoration was in order, Han Shuo began to pour in large quantities of the necessary materials. The uneven surface of the earth was densely covered with all kinds of bizarre materials.
There were three oval holes on three sides of the formation. They would form a triangle if connected by lines. The holes were filled with bloody fluids that bubbled out. They filled the air with a nostril assaulting stench.
After Han Shuo walked to the first hole, the skin on the tip of his middle finger cracked and three drops of his blood essence fell into the hole. As soon as that happened, the bubbling bloody liquid in the hole suddenly boiled over. Colourful vapours spiralled up. But strangely, the vapour gathered above the hole and didn't seem to dissipate.
One by one, Han Shuo dropped three of his blood essences into the other two holes. Again, the mysterious, un-dissipating vapours took shape.
Next, Han Shuo sat on a protruding platform at the centre of the formation. He pressed both of his hands on the shiny, smooth and crystal clear magic stone on the platform. An enormous amount of demonic yuan suddenly gushed out and pierced right through the magical stone.
In an instant, the magical stone burst into a blaze of dazzling magical light. The dozen or so fine trenches that were connected to the magical stone surprisingly began to slither like glowing snakes.
Looking down directly from the top, one could see the fine trenches forming a floating spider web, gently swaying and twisting. It was easy to find beauty in its peculiarity. These trenches seemed to be channels for the transport of some kind of fluid powered by demonic yuan, gathering all kinds of energies before finally flowing into the three holes containing Han Shuo's blood essence.
Neither moonlight nor sunlight could penetrate the cemetery of Death, so the passage of time became blurred once inside. After an indeterminate amount of time, the magical stone began to glow less and less brightly. On the contrary, above the three holes where the energies converged, the vapours that continued to cloud began to blossom with intense, colourful lights. The scene even seemed demonic.
Han Shuo, who had been sitting on the magical stone, suddenly stood up and flew over the first hole. He carefully pulled out his Soul Depository Ring and grabbed the weakest soul inside - the soul of the demigod magus. At lightning speed, it was launched into the vapour that had accumulated above the first hole.
In an instant, the thick vapour seemed to boil and began to glow magnificently. A pitiful wail began to emanate from it.
Han Shuo had an unfeeling expression on his face. In an instant, his body hovered over the next hole. He pulled out the soul of the old shaman and threw it into the thick vapour.
As Han Shuo threw the Light Pope's soul into the vapour above the last hole, the patterns on the entire formation seemed to come to life. It now took on the appearance of a three-eyed monster. The fine grooves were like scars on the face of the monster, which wriggled like earthworms. The scene was terrifying.
Inhuman, blood-curdling screams were constantly echoing from the vapour congealing over the three holes.
With the same expression on his face, Han Shuo flew back to the platform in the centre and sat cross-legged on it. He pressed his two hands on the magical stone again and sent out the demonic yuan in his body, providing the three spirit demons with the energy they needed for their first round of evolution.
Another long and indeterminate period of time passed unknowingly, along with perhaps another few million rounds of persistent screaming, before the terrifying voices finally stopped.
Han Shuo, still sitting on the platform, showed some signs of fatigue. He gently opened his eyes, glanced at the three spirit demons that had gone into hibernation, and slowly rose from the platform.
Han Shuo took a deep breath and shifted his attention away from the slowly evolving spirit demons. He flew to the centre of the cemetery, casually pulled several thumb-sized medicinal pellets from his space ring, and swallowed them without chewing. He sat down next to the huge interplanar transport matrix to rest.
Sitting next to Han Shuo's main body was his avatar, cultivating in the elemental energy of death. At that moment, his eyes, which had been closed for a long time, suddenly opened. He stretched his body, moving his somewhat stiff neck and joints, and showed a satisfied smile. Soon after, he walked towards the bottom of the cemetery.
After taking some time off to recuperate, this avatar of his had finally fully recovered from his injuries. What's more, he felt even better than he had before the battle at the Shrine of Ice, and he had gained a deeper understanding of the energy he was cultivating within. This soul of his possessed the memories of a midgod who had a deep understanding of the elemental energy of death. However, knowing was not the same as actually using it.
The valuable experience he had gained from fighting the god who had descended at the Ice Shrine had greatly improved his manipulation of the elemental energy.
Even though this Avatar had been severely damaged in the battle, what he had gained far outweighed the damage. After this battle, based on his familiarity with elemental energy, Han Shuo felt that he was close to making the breakthrough to become a mid-stage Lowgod. This filled Han Shuo with great excitement.
Although he would still be a lowgod, a mid-stage lowgod would be much more powerful than an early-stage lowgod . When this happens, not only will his understanding of elemental energy improve, but his divine energy and domain of divinity will also be greatly enhanced.
