Freeze!" the level one demon shouted. It shot an icy glare at Sanguis with questioning eyes before turning to Han Shuo and saying, "Who are you?"
From the moment the Demon appeared, Han Shuo could recognise its identity by the insignia proudly woven into the front of its robe - a Black Jade Guard!
Only within the Black Jade City would a Black Jade Guard be so arrogant and cold! Although he didn't have a high rank among the Black Jade Guards, he could still strut around in front of others.
"Who am I? You will find out soon enough. But let me advise you to stay out of my business," Han Shuo ignored the Black Jade Guard's order. He put on an unruffled smile and turned his gaze to Sanguis, who had suddenly stopped following the demon's threats. In a deep voice, he ordered, "Kill these clowns. You don't have to worry about anything else."
It was obvious that Sanguis had recognised the identity of this level one demon. In Black Jade City, the Black Jade Guards were tantamount to the weapons of the Demon King Manticole. Their power and influence could strike fear into the hearts of anyone, let alone Sanguis, who was at the bottom of the abyssal society. That kind of fear and dread of the Black Jade Guards was deeply rooted in his soul, and it certainly wasn't something that could be reversed in a moment.
Sanguis hesitantly looked at the Black Jade Guard, whose face was grim and sinister, and turned his head to look at his most mysterious master, who was in no hurry. After silently turning in his mind, his stubborn spirit flared up and his heart hardened like steel. Sanguis no longer batted an eyelid at the impetuous Black Jade Guard, but focused his resentful gaze on the leader of the group of teenagers. Once again, he marched forward with a firm and steady gait, heading for the answering bully with the scornful expression.
The demon was obviously annoyed by Sanguis's complete disregard for him. "You'd better not do anything stupid," he threatened, his eyebrows furrowed in anger at this trash who lived at the bottom of society, but who he felt couldn't tell chalk from cheese. His mind was flooded with murderous thoughts. But before he could act, a voice staccatoed in his ears.
The next moment, a sinister, eerie sensation rushed into his body like tidal water, making his blood run cold. This level one demon's body suddenly turned stiff and frozen. His wrinkled eyebrows began to crumple. Traces of timidity could even be seen in his pair of ice-cold, merciless eyes. He looked at Han Shuo, his eyes drooping at the outer corners and his forehead wrinkled, but still smiling, and said in a deep voice, "A mighty expert indeed. Nevertheless, to insult us Black Jade Guards in Black Jade City, are you really itching to taste death?"
The sinister energy restraining the level one demon did not diminish at all as the mild and unflappable smile on Han Shuo's face suddenly disappeared, replaced by a more evil and cunning smile. "You are just a small level one demon. You by no means represent the entire body of Black Jade Guards. Hehehe, I'd advise you not to act blindly without using that little brain of yours first. Even if I kill you, your death will be in vain. The Black Jade Guards will not choose to go to war with me because of a little character like you!
The demon's expression changed. He had realised the meaning of Han Shuo's words. He demanded in a deep voice, "Who exactly are you?"
"You will find out! But for now, you better behave yourself and be a good spectator!" Han Shuo said coldly as he glared at the Black Jade Guard. Immediately after, he turned his attention to his new apprentice.
These teenagers, who had gone to great lengths to invite a level one demon to retaliate against Han Shuo, looked at the Black Jade Guard who had remained motionless all this time, confused. They couldn't understand why a Black Jade Guard whose authority was unchallenged in the Black Jade City would suddenly become so reticent. Ant-like existences like them obviously couldn't sense the terrifying pressure Han Shuo was exerting on the Black Jade Guard.
"My... my lord..." the leading youth stammered as if he wanted to say something.
He turned away coldly and indifferently. With his actions, this level one demon had made his position clear. They were just a few low-level Abyssal Guards with no promising future, absolutely unworthy of a level one demon risking his own life to protect them. Besides, this Sanguis child might not have the strength to defeat them.
This level one demon couldn't sense a single bit of elemental energy or edict power from Sanguis's body. To say that a boy who did not possess a single one of the Twelve Energies could kill those Abyssal Guards who possessed that little bit of power would be an absolute fantasy! This guy was full of curiosity. Therefore, he wisely decided to step aside and become a spectator to see for himself how Sanguis would attack.
It was obvious that these teenagers weren't afraid of Sanguis, but of the person standing behind him. So when they were frightened and didn't know what to do, Han Shuo smilingly assured them, "You kids don't have to worry about me. Things between you and my apprentice should be resolved between you. I will not interfere, not even if you kill him!"
It was true that Han Shuo was extremely pleased and fond of this new apprentice of his. However, demonic arts cultivators had to go through cruel battles and fights in order to grow rapidly. The more Han Shuo liked this apprentice, the less he could spoil him.
To survive, a man would have to face all kinds of dangers on his own. For Sanguis to gain dominance and a place above a world of experts, he would have to forge his own path through bloodshed! That was a fact that not even Han Shuo could change!
"Really? You're not going to get involved?" the young man asked gleefully. He looked like a drowning man who suddenly grabbed onto a floating log.
Han Shuo nodded and said, "I won't! If you manage to kill him, I will turn on my heels and leave immediately!"
"Fantastic!" the boy was overjoyed. He raised his arms as a barricade, stopping the eager crowd behind him, and said heroically, "I don't need your help. I will finish this half-breed myself!"
"Kiluya, what I hate most is when people call a half-breed. From today, all those who dare to call me a half-breed will die at my hands - and you, you shall be the first!" Sanguis's eyes were bloodshot. A faint smell of blood began to seep from his body. When he had finally finished his speech, Sanguis suddenly stomped and leapt forward like a wild leopard escaped from its cage!
A pair of deep footprints were left on the ground where Sanguis had stepped. A streak of bloody shadows shot straight at Kuliya. Sanguis's two hands, like weapons, reached the space in front of Kuliya's chest in an instant. The stench of blood coming from Sanguis's body suddenly intensified to the point of stinging!
Kuliya hastily raised both of his arms to his chest to defend himself from the unexpected attack. Creak! In an instant, Kuliya felt intense pain coming from his arms. Pow! An enormous force hit his body. As if he had been rammed by a ferocious beast, Kuliya was thrown high into the air. He made a loud thud as his body hit the ground. Fresh blood gushed from his mouth like a river as his curled body convulsed and twitched.
The demon's pupils constricted as Sanguis stomped on his feet. His jaw dropped to his knees like weights on a rubber band as he looked at Sanguis in disbelief, amazed at the burst of energy that had erupted from Sanguis.
This mysterious energy did not originate from any of the twelve types of energy, but it possessed an extremely vicious and terrifying impact force, something that a level one demon could clearly sense!
He even discovered that when Sanguis's two hands ruthlessly struck Kuliya's arms, the blood in Sanguis's body seemed to suddenly boil over, rapidly circulating and pooling in his palms. Sanguis's palms, which were originally white, now looked like they were drenched in blood, while the lines on his palms were more like bloody trenches.
"What, what martial art is this?" The level one demon had a head full of question marks. The gleam in his eyes waved red at Sanguis in amazement and wonder.
"How, how is that possible?" said Kuliya after spitting out another mouthful of blood. He stared at Sanguis in disbelief, fear on his face as his body twitched all over the floor.
"The energy has always been in your body.
You just did not know how to use it," Sanguis said as he suddenly remembered the words Han Shuo had once spoken. He couldn't help but turn around and give Han Shuo a nod of gratitude.
Grinning at Sanguis, Han Shuo said, "A real man ought to kill! Even more so for my disciples! If there is hatred in your heart, let it out! Do it in the way that gives you the most satisfaction! Forget how others would look at you. Even if everyone thought you were a homicidal maniac, what then?"
Before Sanguis's mother became ill and died, she had been quite attractive. The elders of these teenagers standing before Sanguis had previously raped his mother. Following in their parents' footsteps, these delinquents had even defiled Sangui's mother. This hatred had always been buried deep in Sanguis's heart. The reason why Sanguis craved strength so much was precisely for the purpose of taking revenge.
After receiving encouragement from Han Shuo, Sanguis closed his eyes and took a deep breath. When he opened his eyes, his bloodshot eyes were filled with the cruel intent of slaughter. He flew to Kuliya as he struggled in pain, sat on him, and used his sharp fingernails to rip Kuliya's body to shreds as he howled with laughter.
This Kuliya, who had disparaged Sanguis as a lowly half-breed, could only utter deafening cries as Sanguis tortured him to a slow and painful death.
When Sanguis finally stood up, he looked at the terrified, speechless teenagers and said with a psychotic smile, "Your turn!
"I beg you, please, please spare us," the few teenagers mechanically repeated the words, scared to death by Sanguis's brutal performance.
"Those exact words, all the countless times I have repeated them, but have you ever spared me?" Sanguis laughed like a madman. Like a terrifying beast, he pounced on the few teenagers who tried to escape. With his newfound energy, Sanguis killed them one by one with sheer determination.
