Han Shuo worked alone during the nights, using his keen senses to hunt down the nearby magical creatures. The flawless cooperation between man and skeleton had no drawbacks. They had already collected four level 5 cores, as well as some valuable skin and horns.
Han Shuo not only tried to cast magic whenever they hunted magical creatures, but also repeatedly practised Bone Arrow Magic, often combining rocket and melee attacks to uncanny effect.
Han Shuo never showed the same panic and confusion that the students showed when they first encountered magical creatures. He always displayed the same calm, even a kind of numb callousness.
Even Han Shuo didn't know why he didn't have any negative emotions during the whole process. He could vaguely feel that his inner heart was actually brimming with eagerness and anticipation when he was hunting magical creatures, as if he really enjoyed the process.
"I'm definitely not a good person!" Han Shuo laughed at himself and accepted this time's haul of cores and Wind blade Wolf pelts from the little skeleton's hands. He patted the little skeleton's darkly glowing head and smiled, "Let's go. We can go back now."
The little skeleton's hand clutched its bone dagger, no trace of emotion in its empty eye sockets. It trailed behind Han Shuo and quickly returned along their original path.
Han Shuo chanted an incantation when they were halfway there and the little skeleton returned to the other dimension. Seeing that he was about to return to the campsite, Han Shuo slowed his pace and walked unhurriedly through the shadows of the trees.
As it was past midnight, the students standing guard in the campground had turned into Fanny, Lisa and Amy. Lisa and Amy had half-closed eyes and looked incredibly sleepy. Anyone could see at a glance that they were slacking off and not taking their responsibilities seriously.
It was a good thing that Fanny understood the importance of being on guard. Her pair of beautiful eyes scanned the four corners of the room alertly, her wary gaze instantly fixed on the direction Han Shuo was coming from as his light footsteps approached.
Her wand in hand, Fanny frowned with a look of high alert on her seductive features. She moved slowly in Han Shuo's direction and said softly, "Who goes there?"
"Master Fanny, it's me!" Han Shuo called lightly as he slowly stepped out of the shadows.
"I knew it would be you. I went to look for you earlier and found your tent empty. Where did you go in the middle of the night?" Fanny's eyes fixed on Han Shuo's body as she asked in confusion.
"Nothing much, I just went to find a secluded corner to practice magic. After I asked you about Bone Arrow Magic last time, I took advantage of the night to find a secluded place to practice. I think that only with repeated practice can I guarantee that I will win. Han Shuo scratched his head and answered honestly in a light voice.
"Bryan, it's great that you're working so hard. After a while, when you've grasped more magic, I'll explain this matter to the school authorities. That way, your status as an errand slave can be removed and you may be able to enjoy the same treatment as the students." Fanny looked at Han Shuo and thought for a moment.
"Oh, I have been sold to the Babylon Academy of Magic and Strength. Will my status as an errand slave be waived just because I understand magic?" Han Shuo asked after recovering from his astonishment
Fanny nodded and spoke firmly. "No mage has ever been an errand boy or a slave. Being a mage is a respected profession throughout the Profound Continent. Even if our Necromancy Major is unpopular, if you can prove that you truly understand magic, then your status will change and you'll never have to be an errand boy.
"I see, that's wonderful. I actually have many more questions that I hope Master Fanny will be able to answer for me. I will do my best to improve myself and become an adequate magician." Han Shuo's thoughts raced as he suddenly remembered the many unanswered questions he had from the magic books he had read before and wanted to make the best use of this opportunity to get them answered.
"No problem, you can ask me all your necromancy questions in the future. I will help you. Eh... although you're a bit lascivious right now, I'm sure you're a magical genius and will help you escape from your current situation." Fanny smiled faintly and replied in her soft voice.
Han Shuo smiled honestly, as if he hadn't heard Fanny accuse him of being too carnal. He thought for a moment and began to ask Fanny a few questions about magical knowledge.
After a short moment, Fanny gave a big start of surprise and looked at Han Shuo in shock. "Oh my goodness, Bryan, you already have so much magical knowledge. That's amazing!"
"I gained this magic knowledge from reading the magic books in the library the last time I helped Jack clean the library. Ever since I discovered that I could cast the Bone Arrow magic, I have been investigating the reason why." Han Shuo lied smoothly and actually spoke with a slightly embarrassed expression.
"Bryan, I really wasn't wrong about you. You really are a magic genius!" Fanny exclaimed in amazement again when she heard Han Shuo's explanation
At that moment, the sound of footsteps again reached Han Shuo's ears. His face grew serious as he hurriedly said, "A sound is approaching, but it doesn't sound like a magical creature. It sounds more like a human being."
Fanny's beautiful features changed slightly at Han Shuo's words and she pulled at his arms in panic. They ran straight to the tents, "There are many races in the Dark Forest, but not all of them are friendly. Even some who are humans like us will sometimes kill for a high-level magical creature core. We should be ready."
Fanny's slender fingers gripped Han Shuo's wrist in her haste. She had no particular thoughts, but Han Shuo's mind was already filled with sinister intentions. His mind began to spin as the feel of the smooth fingers of her jade hand crossed his wrist, and his mind suddenly recalled the tantalising moment on the back of a battle steed a few days ago.
"Everybody up! Lisa and Amy, everyone up and ready for battle! Possible danger approaching!" Fanny's words jolted the dozing Lisa and Amy awake. The two could sense the approaching danger in Fanny's desperate tone, and they began to make a racket to warn those in the tents.
In the blink of an eye, many of the students who had been fast asleep in the tents rushed out with their clothes in disarray, still half asleep. They began to prepare for battle.
Fanny accidentally glanced at Han Shuo at that moment and saw that Han Shuo was smiling happily at the hand that was clasping his wrist. There was an expression of joy on his face. Furious, Fanny let go only after giving Han Shuo a sharp pinch with her jade hand. She said angrily in a low voice, "Damn it, Bryan, I think you're just as lecherous as Fitch."
Han Shuo screamed in pain and wore an awkward smile on his face. He thought to himself, "I wonder what Fanny would think if she knew that I was the one who touched her bottom last time?
Several heavy footsteps gradually approached, echoing through the chaos of the students getting ready. Han Shuo had begun to calm down after Fanny's pinch and the previous lustful gleam in his eyes had vanished without a trace, replaced by a deep coldness. It was as if he was a bystander, coldly observing everything around him.
Heavy footsteps, accompanied by strange, airy noises, continued to approach the crew. Gene frowned and asked, "Such heavy footsteps shouldn't belong to humans, but bipedal magical creatures are extremely rare. What could they be?"
Fanny furrowed her brow in deep thought as her beautiful eyes suddenly lit up with understanding. She suddenly shouted, "Everyone hurry and call the skeleton warriors to the front, we seem to have encountered the man-eating monsters in the Dark Forest.
Everyone was stunned when the words 'man-eating monsters' came out of Fanny's mouth. Some of the female students shuddered as fearful expressions appeared on their faces. Gene was also startled and hurriedly ordered everyone to form a defensive circle. He also pulled out a brown wand that looked like a tree branch. His face was full of cautious caution.
Incantations flew from the mouths of the students and teachers. Several skeleton warriors, ghouls and zombie warriors appeared out of nowhere, as did Fanny and Gene's hate warriors.
The Hate Warriors were the more advanced of the dark creatures. These hate warriors were enormous in size, wielding metal clubs, and had incredible strength in all the fat on their bodies. Their bodies also possessed extremely durable defensive capabilities, and were a common flesh shield used by necromancers.
In fact, following their thundering footsteps, eight grey, two-and-a-half-metre tall man-eating monsters wielding spiked clubs and long spears soon appeared in everyone's vision.
Man-eating monsters were pack creatures. Ten or so man-eating monsters counted as a tribe. The nature of the man-eating monsters was lazy and they liked to steal things. They were born robbers. They were adept at using spiked clubs and long spears, and the toughness and durability of their bodies made them extremely powerful and damaging in close combat.
But it wasn't the strength of the man-eating monsters that frightened people the most, it was their habits. Man-eating monsters were called that because they ate humans. If they came across a human during a raid, they would not only steal everything, but also carry the human off to eat.
Han Shuo and company had formed a defensive field, with the Skeleton Warriors, Ghouls, Zombie Warriors and Hate Warriors forming an outer defensive perimeter. A few necromancers prepared their offensive rocket spells and watched the approaching man-eating monsters intently.
"Prepare to fight!" Fanny shouted. Her staff was already raised.
