Chapter 9 An Array Formation and a Flying Sword

As Liang Chen and Xiu Ying walked through the mountains, the Universal Guide informed Liang Chen that there is an array formation nearby. Liang Chen said to Xiu Ying to follow him and changed directions. They stumbled upon an array formation inscribed on a large boulder. Liang Chen's eyes lit up with curiosity and fascination as he approached the array formation.

Xiu Ying noticed his interest and asked, "What is it, Liang Chen? Do you recognize this?"

"It's an array formation," Liang Chen replied. "I've read about them in books, but I've never seen one in person before."

Xiu Ying nodded, "I've heard they're used for defense and offense in battles."

Liang Chen's eyes sparkled, "Yes, that's right! But they can also be used for other purposes, such as cultivation."

Xiu Ying looked at him in confusion, "Cultivation? How does an array formation help with cultivation?"

Liang Chen explained, "An array formation can enhance the power of spiritual energy in an area, allowing for faster cultivation. It can also be used to trap demons and beasts for easier hunting."

Xiu Ying's eyes widened in realization, "That's amazing! Do you think we can learn how to inscribe array formations?"

Liang Chen nodded confidently, "Definitely! Let's start by studying this one and figuring out how it works."

Liang Chen asks the Universal Guide about array formations. "There are seven levels of array formations, starting from the first level, which is the simplest, and the seventh level, which is the most complex. Array formations are a way to arrange and control energy, which is essential in cultivation. They can be used for a variety of purposes, such as defense, offense, and even transportation."

Liang Chen thought for a while then asked. "Can anyone learn array formations?"

Universal Guide immediately responds "Yes, anyone can learn array formations. However, it requires a great deal of knowledge and practice to master them. It's a field of study that requires patience, intelligence, and creativity."

Liang Chen nodded. "I see. Can you teach me some basic array formations?"

Universal Guide "Of course. I can teach you the basics of array formations, but it's up to you to practice and master them. Are you ready to begin?"

Liang Chen thought that as expected of the cheat code called the Universal Guide. It does know everything.

And so, Liang Chen and Xiu Ying spent hours studying the array formation, analyzing each symbol, and trying to understand the principles behind it. With the help of the Universal Guide, it took less time for them to learn than normally one can. The Universal Guide can answer all of their questions and can give corrections if needed. They were determined to master the art of array formations and use it to enhance their cultivation and combat abilities.

As Liang Chen and Xiu Ying studies the array formation, Liang Chen immediately noticed something was off. He took a closer look and saw that the formation was poorly constructed, with several weak points he could exploit. Liang Chen turned to Xiu Ying and said, "Xiu Ying, let's break this formation and see what's inside."

Xiu Ying nodded in agreement, and they both stepped forward to activate the formation. The array lit up, and they felt a burst of energy flowing through them. Liang Chen quickly analyzed the formation's structure and found its weak points. He instructed Xiu Ying on where to strike, and they both attacked the formation.

With a loud cracking sound, the formation shattered, and they were able to enter the cave inside the mountain. As they looked around, they saw the remains of a dead cultivator lying on the ground, his body decomposed and covered in dust.

Liang Chen walked over to the body and searched it. He found a sword, pills, and a rare herb. He picked up the sword and inspected it, "This sword is of high-quality material, and it's a good fit for me. The pills are not of much use, but this rare herb can be used to concoct a high-level healing pill."

Xiu Ying looked at Liang Chen and asked, "What do you think happened here?"

Liang Chen replied, "I'm not sure, but it seems like the cultivator who set up the formation died here. Perhaps he was attacked by a powerful demon beast, or he was betrayed by someone."

Xiu Ying nodded, "We should be careful when exploring these formations, it's dangerous out here."

Liang Chen agreed, "Yes, we must always be vigilant and never let our guard down."

They took the sword, pills, and herb and buried the dead body then left the cave. As they walked back, Liang Chen couldn't help but think about the array formation and how he could improve it. He was determined to learn more about array formations and become a formation master at it.

As Liang Chen examined the sword, the Universal Guide spoke up.

"That's an earth-level flying sword. It's a weapon that cultivators can control with their spiritual energy. The quality of the sword is crucial for its effectiveness in battle. You can also use it to fly once you stepped into the Foundation Establishment realm."

Liang Chen looked at the sword with shock and newfound appreciation. He needed a cultivator weapon instead of using a normal weapon. "What are the different levels of cultivator artifact quality?" he asked.

"There are several levels of artifact quality," the Universal Guide replied. "The lowest level is mortal, followed by earth, heaven, and finally, divine. Each level represents a significant increase in power and effectiveness."

Liang Chen nodded, understanding the importance of a quality weapon in battle. He looked at the pills and the rare herb next to the sword and asked, "What about pills and rare herbs?"

"Pills are essential for cultivation, and the rarer they are, the more potent their effects," the Universal Guide explained. "As for rare herbs, they can be used in alchemy to create pills or as a supplement in cultivation."

Liang Chen thought of the dead cultivator and felt a sense of sadness for his untimely demise. However, he knew that he could use the items he found to further his own cultivation and perhaps even avenge the cultivator's death.
