"So gullible you are, little Jasmine."
"No, am not!" Jasmine's cracked voice sounded across her room.
"...Everyone around you is a foe. EVERYONE!"
She was having a nightmare, which was more like a memory of what had transpired. She was sweating profusely shaking her head vigorously. Her faced showed a pained expression while her chest was heaving up and down.
The door to her room opened but she did not hear it. Deimos walked towards her bed with an expressionless face. Her sat on the bed side and held her body in place, but Jasmine became more alert.
"Don't kill me, please," her pleading voice sounded her eyes still closed.
Deimos felt a rush of emotions he had never felt before, hit him. It was concern for the little dove. He lifted her slowly to a sitting position and put her head on his shoulder. His hand landed on her face caressing it slowly.
"Jasmine, wake up," he called in a low soothing voice that he never knew he had.
Like magic, she stopped resisting and her breathing returned normal. She even held him tighter as if her life depended on it. She felt a strange but comforting warmth coming from whatever that thing was. She did not want it to slip away so she clutched her little arms tightly.
Deimos did not resist, nor did he respond. He waited until she was emotionally stable and fully awake.
Jasmine pulled back immediately she came back to her senses. She felt a little disheartened for the loss of the warmth but did not show it.
"Why did you leave the mansion last night?" Deimos asked when he saw she was much better.
Jasmine lifted her head and stared back at him. If it was earlier, she would have been hell scared of him, but unknowingly, she felt safer with him.
"You never said I couldn't leave," she said her voice hoarse.
Deimos wanted to scold her, but seeing her pitiful self, he kept quiet.
"From hence forward, you are not allowed to go beyond the training ground or leave the mansion after twilight."
His words were final not ready for any discussion.
Jasmine could only nod her head. She was not planning to go back there. She understood the place was dangerous. Then a question popped up, but she did not dare ask. Fear and confusion were visible in her eyes.
As if guessing what she wanted to say, Deimos said, "She is a werewolf." His words were neither a lie nor the entire truth.
Jasmine looked at him, shocked. More confusion registered on her face trying to understand what she just heard.
"Do such things exist?" her voice came out as a whisper but loud enough for Deimos to hear.
"Many things exist that you can't ever think of."
"Was the person who attacked me the first day also a werewolf?"
Her question made Deimos chuckle. Her innocence just amazed him to no end.
"You don't want to know that little dove," he replied not intending to explain any further.
Jasmine confused expression turned into annoyance as she said to him, "I have told you countless times not to call me that."
"And I have told you countless times I won't stop. You are just as innocent as a little dove."
Deimos stood up from her bed ready to leave the room.
Jasmine heartbeat increased. She did not want to be alone. Not after what she experienced.
"Don't go," she whispered to herself but Deimos who had a super good hearing, heard her.
He stopped but did not turn around.
"You should get ready, a visitor will be coming to see you," he said still standing at the same place.
He waited for her to climb off the bed but there was no movement. He turned around and there she was, still sitting at the bed, gazing at him unblinkingly.
"Do you want me to bath you?" His words were like a trigger making her rush into the bathroom, blushing.
Deimos half smiled and left the room after her figure disappeared.
***************
Jasmine headed downstairs straight away she was done bathing. She was walking to the dining room when she heard people conversing. It was Deimos and a woman's voice.
Jasmine walked into the room and her eyes landed on a beautiful lady. There were no words to compliment her good looks. Jasmine was mesmerized and could not look away.
"I bet you are Jasmine," the lady's voice was like a melody to Jasmine's ears.
Jasmine blinked her eyes coming back to earth. She nodded her head and said," I am, and you are?"
Lamia's lips formed a charming smile and said, "Am Lamia."
Jasmine smiled back at her, but she felt like a shadow in front of the beautiful lady.
"Lamia will be staying here with you when am not around."
"Why?" Jasmine asked confused.
"Because I said so. I don't want what happened yesterday to repeat itself."
Lamia chuckled lightly then said, "Oh dear, don't scare the little cat. She might run away."
Lamia placed one of her hands on Deimos' chest as if pacifying him.
Jasmine felt some sourness form inside her heart, staring at the two. She did not like how Lamia's hand was roaming around Deimos. She clenched her fist and her eyes turned sharp. Her heart and mind were in a mess.
