Darkness engulfs me as I try to sit up.
My bones are aching with every minuscule movement and I look outside the small, dusty window to inspect my only source of weak light.
Another full moon has risen above the forest but its white glow hardly reaches the ground.
A howling in the distance wakes that strange longing inside of me. A longing so foreign, like a parasite that just keeps growing until it devours me whole.
Then, I hear how the rusty key turns and after a few seconds the door swings open.
She looks down at my kneeling self and a vicious smile fills her face.
"Are you ready for your training?"
I don't respond.
I never do.
"You will be so strong one day. The strongest of all. My Alpha."
She pulls a small glass bottle out of her long coat and looking at the liquid, my heart fills with nothing but hate.
Hate for her. Hate for my situation. And hate for everything I have had to go through.
I have been counting days, I have spent hours planning and doubting.
And tonight I'm going to end the horror.
"You're a special monster, Ren. So special," she purrs as she looks at the potion in her hands.
I bare my sharp teeth as I slowly get up.
She scans me with an amused smile on her lips.
"What are you doing? Trying to hurt me? You know the consequences."
"I do."
The sharp claws shoot out of my fingers and I take one last breath.
"But you're the monster. Not me."
Realization hits her too late.
"Ren!"
But I don't feel mercy.
She stumbles backwards as I lunge at her, digging my teeth into her throat.
She screams in unbearable pain while she still can but I refuse to stop.
I will never stop again.
Her death cry fills the forest as blood runs down my chin.
This is her end.
And the beginning of my dawn.
