~ With Aiden ~
As Aiden marvelled at the Zeppelin on the battlefield, the popularity of his Twitch stream had skyrocketed, hitting five million viewers. Without any special promotions or official endorsements, even top streamers would struggle to achieve such numbers. This incredible feat had naturally drawn the attention of other streamers.
"What's going on with Aiden's stream today? Did he hit the jackpot with some crazy new game?" Wondered Sarah, a friend of Aiden and another popular streamer who had just started her livestream and was casually chatting with her viewers.
"What the heck is this game, and why is Aiden's viewership through the roof?" Said David, another top streamer who had just gone live, his eyes widening at the sight of the massive Zeppelin on Aiden's screen.
Curiosity piqued, other streamers clicked into Aiden's stream, quickly becoming captivated by the breathtaking scene of war and the colossal airship dominating the sky. They had never seen such a stunning and immersive war scene in any other FPS games.
As the airship loomed closer, the shouts of his in-game NPC comrades grew more urgent.
"Keep firing!"
"Don't let that airship get any closer!"
Under the relentless bombardment, the front lines were being pushed back inch by inch. Everyone knew the devastating consequences if the Zeppelin reached their position. Aiden quickly moved from the mounted machine gun to an unoccupied anti-aircraft gun. He aimed and fired round after round at the Zeppelin above, with other allied soldiers doing the same all across the battlefield.
"Come on, go down already! Why won't you fall!?" Aiden yelled, the urgency in his voice showcasing the desperate situation he was in. Despite being riddled with artillery fire and showing signs of severe damage and burning, the Zeppelin continued its slow, ominous approach.
Suddenly, the voice of an officer in Aiden's position could be heard. "Evacuate the area! Evacuate the area! Everyone, evacuate now!"
'Evacuate? Aren't we supposed to shoot this airship down?' Aiden wondered, shocked by the order he was given. But when he turned his attention back onto the warship, he realized why. Multiple bombers had flown overhead and were dropping their payloads onto the airship. This scene had left both him and his viewers stunned in silence and awe.
"Holy shiiit!"
"That's insane!"
"I have never been this hyped for a game! I have to play this right now!"
"Guys, remember the beginning?! This is just the prologue battle!"
"What? Seriously?! NO WAY!!!"
On the screen, the now burning Zeppelin, heavily damaged by the countless artillery shells and aerial bombardment, began its final crash into the ground like a wounded bird. The thunderous crash that followed was deafening, as the behemoth hit the ground with a force that exceeded its aerial threat.
Aiden watched as the screen was filled with a blinding explosion, and then went dark. The sounds of battle and gunfire ceased instantly. For a few seconds, there was only silence, then, new sounds began to emerge in Aiden's ears, and the dark screen slowly revealed a new scene.
(Battlefield 1 Prologue Ending Cinematic)
The scene showed the soldier from the earlier cinematic, standing as he came face to face with another, they both raised their weapons as the voice of a narrator played in the background with the accompanying orchestral musical score.
"They push, we push. Every once in a while, we push hard enough that the lights break through the clouds."
Both soldiers lowered their weapons, relieved that neither wanted to kill the other. As the camera panned out, the chaos of war was everywhere – smoke, corpses, and the fallout of the destroyed Zeppelin airship filled the screen.
"So, the world beyond the war glimmers, just out of reach."
In the next instance, various scenes of intense trench warfare are shown. Bombers roared overhead, while soldiers are seen charging, firing, and taking cover.
"The war is the world, and the world is the war."
The scene then focuses on the faces of different soldiers, showing a range of emotions from fear to determination.
"But behind every gun sight is a human being. We are those people."
The following scenes happened in succession, building up the anticipation and excitement of Aiden and his viewers alike even more.
A train crashed into vehicle
"We are the jaded."
A soldier squatting down while performing a religious prayer, explosions in a chaotic battlefield.
"And we are the naïve."
Soldiers seen becoming friends.
"We are the honourable."
And then a soldiers killed another.
"And the criminal."
The scene then shows soldiers on horses charging across the dessert.
"We are the bound for legend."
Before showing soldiers celebrating a hard-fought victory over their enemies.
"And the loss to history."
A forest warfare came next, showing planes flying in low altitude as the soldiers and tanks pushed onwards.
"We are the knights of the sky."
The scene of a woman with facial markings and a headdress appeared next, staring into the night.
"The ghosts in the desert."
A soldier saving another showed next inside of a trench, falling onto his knees in fatigue.
"And the rats in the mud."
The cinematic finally ends in a close-up shot of a soldier looking up in awe, as an object slowly cast a shadow onto him.
"These are our stories."
(End cinematic)
With the end of the cinematic, it also signalled the end of the prologue of the game and the screen went black once again. Aiden remained silent, stunned by what he had just gone through. Even his livestream chat was silent as the prologue ended.
There was only one word that could best describe how they were feeling. Speechless.
