Stuck Gaze

The earlier words of the prophetess, came gashing back in memories. So many unanswered questions, some which are unreasonable too. But as of this he needed no prophetess, nobody to tell him why it had to turn out like this.

A soft knock echoed from outside the door. Without having to give permission, the door slowly swung open. "Your Highness."

Ezra nodded to the greetings, he still had his eyes on the girl whose whimpers had ceased for a while now. "Kyle?"

"Hmmm." The young man who had just entered seconds ago, hummed in reply.

"What do you think?"

"Your Highness. I think you should accept it, I mean it will do no harm. Miss Roose has suffered alot because of this. Just give it a go in my opinion." The man answered.

Huge escapade of a sigh left from Ezra. He had finally diverted his attention from the girl on the bed to Kyle who was standing behind him.

"If you think so then, get it done." Ezra said facing Kyle.

"I will your Highness." with a deep bow, Kyle responded before turning on his heels to leave.

"Just when will this end?" He asked himself while staring at the girl on the bed.

Suddenly an image flashed in his head. "Are you trying to get us killed?"

He remembered vividly, the notation of get voice as she shouted. He squeezed his eyes tightly shut.

"Are you okay?" The scenario kept going on repeat in his head. And he still couldn't forget that look he gave her that night.

Remembering this, he sighed again, more deeply this time.

Pulling his phone out from his pockets, he kept scrolling through.

A silent whimper came from the girl on the bed, therefore drawing his attention. Ezra rendered a look to that direction. "It will pass. Don't worry." He whispered before standing up and evacuating the room.

"Make preparations, I will go back tomorrow." Ezra imposed to the man stationed right outside the room as he took huge strides away with his hands buried in his pockets.

"Your highness, you haven't fed for a long while now, aren't you...?"

The moment he pushed the tall and huge door open, a man trailed after him, spouting those words.

Ezra paused, turning to give a glance, he resumed his steps into the room. "I don't feel like." He replied.

"Are you sure your Highness? You have gone three weeks without...."

"I know, I don't want to."

"But your Highness..."

"I said no Zorac!" The tone of his voice was raised fives times higher normal, making the guy called Zorac flinch instantaneously.

"I.. understand. It's just Aunt wanted me to make sure you are alright, since it's long you last came back to the castle." Zorac explained in a dejected tone.

"I'm fine, you can tell her that." Ezra paid no heed to Zorac downcasted mood.

"Okay." Zorac said before he turned around to leave, but he paused shortly.

"Will you be joining us for dinner?" He asked hopefully.

"No." Without hesitation, Ezra outrightly dwindled the hope the guy had. His hopeful eyes immediately dulled after Ezra's sharp replied.

"Oh okay." Zorac nodded then left, jamming the door close.

A breath in and a breath out, was all Ezra did before going in the the bathroom. He gazed at the faint mark on his wrist which had already healed a long time ago.

...

"Finally! this treacherous day is over!" Alvira fell butt first on the living room couch. Extremely tired was an understatement. She felt suffocated. She hurriedly dragged her worn out body over to her bedroom, pulled of her clothes and took a shower.

She thought to prepare dinner later after her clean up. So she rushed up and entered into the kitchen.

Grabbing some ingredients and kitchen items, she hurriedly whipped up numerous dishes and placed them on the dinning.

Feeling exhausted she knew she wouldn't be able to hold up a wait for Kayla, so she dug in her share and ate to her hearts content.

Being in the middle of her mini feast, she halted when she heard a knock on the door. Her eyes circled wide from the interruption. She tried to guess who it could be.

Probably it won't Kayla because she has a key so Why would she knock?

Alvira badly didn't want to leave her meal halfway because she was very hungry and starved. But the knock echoed again.

This time she had no choice but to answer the door.

"I'm coming." She said, raising her voice a pitch higher while hurrying to put on her home slippers.

Upon reaching, she pulled the door open. She didn't expect whoever it was standing there, right outside. Her mouth hung agape as she couldn't move but only deliver a stuck gaze.
