Chapter 7 – First Goal

After the eventful first meeting, Kira and Renly were currently in discussions in the office of Kira's father and now his own office.

The office wasn't that big but it had everything one would want. In the middle, there was a black work desk and on it, there was a computer, telephone and some documents Kira was currently reading.

On both sides of the desk, there were shelves with what seemed to be manga and light novels. Kira still didn't have time to look through it but on the left side, there was also a shelf with anime Blue-rays.

The moment he finished looking through the last document Kira put it down on the desk and he started sorting his thoughts. So, after he was done with that, he started speaking with a serious voice.

"So let me get this straight, we barely have any money, most of our staff left after my father passed away, our studio never made any big work, actually we only worked on a couple of things…I mean, is the situation that bad?"

Hearing the rant of his nephew, Renji with a defeated smile answered him.

"The situation is bad, as a new studio and with that a studio run by a foreigner it was hard for us to establish ourselves, we tried everything and your father was working without sleeping..."

Before he finished Kira interrupted him, "But I remember my father telling me that everything is good and that you are working on a lot of things, so why?".

"Kira, your father just wanted you to not worry and to be proud of him, you need to understand, that that is the pride of a father, I am also like that."

When Renji finished with that statement, he stopped talking and he just let Kira think about everything and his next move. Renji wasn't sure if Kira would be able to pull them out from the edge of the cliff but he was confident that he was fit enough to lead them. This was Kira's first job as a leader but the diploma he got in Oxford wasn't for show.

"Huuuh, okay let's go."

Kira pulled Renji out of his thoughts and he saw his young boss leaving the office.

Once again Kira was standing in front of his chosen power rangers who were listening to their young boss talk.

They were of course in the meeting room and there was a white blackboard beside Kira.

"I went through all the documents about NA and I will be honest with you. Our situation isn't good. We don't have enough money, and you know the best that just you five aren't enough to make a really good anime…"

Most of the people in the room weren't surprised by this kind of information. They all were more or less aware of these kinds of things.

"Hmph, so then what will you do boss, will you give up, will you sell the studio, if that is so this one is going to be really disappointed, it seems there is going to be a talk really soon."

As you probably guessed Yamato Shoda is the one who said that as he was never the one that was shy to say what he thought. In Kira's opinion, this is both good and bad but as a boss, he would rather have someone willing to say everything to his face than say stuff behind his back.

"If I was so quick to give up, I wouldn't take this job in the first place. I said everything to you because I believe without honesty we will never succeed, so I promise you that from this point onwards you can expect honesty from me…"

"Hmm not bad, 8 points."

After getting graded for his performance Kira took a felt pen in his left hand and started writing on a blackboard that was beside him.

He wrote three main things they need to first put their focus on and this is what he wrote.

- Next Project

- Branding

- Social Media

"I think every single thing on here is self-explanatory but I will now explain to all of you everything in detail."

With some having excited expressions, some being deep in thought and oh yes there was one that nobody could understand because their owner was sleeping, everyone continued listening.

"We must decide what our next anime is going to be and also, we need to decide what will be the date of its airing. That's our numero uno objective, we need to decide this fast so that I will be able to negotiate in time with the televisions and also potential streaming services."

That is the first goal explained.

"Next our brand. I looked through the whole brand of Nexus Animation and I think we need to re-brand ourselves. This is not going to be a problem as we aren't a well-established studio yet. So having no famous work actually helps us here so we can without any repercussions work on this. We will change the logo, our motto and the whole style of our works. That is our numero segundo objective."

That is the second goal.

"Next, social media. You all are young enough and know the importance of social media. I looked through ours and there is a massive room for improvement. We all will work together on that and this objective is similar to the re-branding. So that is our numero tres objective. I know this is usually the job of the PR department but like you all know we don't have that and we currently don't have money to hire new people. So, we will all work on everything."

Finishing explaining his thoughts, Kira took a sip of the water and he took a deep breath before continuing.

"We can begin now with our first goal. So, let's talk, about the first anime of the New Nexus Animation."

And that's how the discussion about the first anime of the Nexus Animation after Kira Rowe took charge started, the discussion that is going to end up in the history books.
