Emperor of Anime

With the tragic passing of his father, a young man by the name of Kira Rowe visits Japan, the place which his father loved with all his heart to pay final respect to his old man. But without him planning this he became a CEO of an almost rundown Animation studio, the last thing he got from his father. Follow the adventure of the CEO of a small Animation Studio who tries to deal with his crazy colleagues, financial problems, and being a foreigner CEO in Japan, all with one goal: to create the best anime ever. ... I will try to be as realistic as possible with this story, especially when it comes to the whole process of making an anime but of course, for the fun of the story and some other stuff, it won't be 100% realistic... ... My first novel is here, to be honest, it is surreal seeing a web novel of my own on this site. What can you expect? I am not sure, as I am new to this I decided to go with a slice-of-life story that contains some comedy and is mostly about making anime and weird characters. When it comes to grammar, everything should be fine on that front, English isn't my first language but I tried to fix mistakes while writing. Of course, if you notice any mistakes, please tell me. ... If you want to read more than 20 chapters upfront check out My Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/StoryWriter946

Chapter 45 – Every genius is somewhat crazy

After typing a message on his phone, the seasoned scriptwriter looked at his young boss who in turn looked at him with curiosity hidden in his eyes.

Toma Yuu just sighed and started talking.

"The person that sent me a message is a former colleague of mine, we aren't exactly friends but we are similar in some aspects…"

The story went like this. He goes by the name of Fukunaga Kenshin and he is a director, or more precisely, an anime director - experienced anime director at that.

He worked on a lot of famous works but in the last couple of years, he completely disappeared from the eyes of the public, not working on anything.

In Toma Yuu's opinion, there could be a couple of reasons why he disappeared but the one he feels most strongly about is the one where he didn't stop working because of his own will. No, in our scriptwriter's own words, he is similar to him, an old eccentric man, who is hard to work with and most people don't understand him, so they stopped choosing him for their new projects.

Well, that's just one guess, who knows what is the truth but the fact is he returned and the first thing he did was to contact a former colleague that he really wasn't close to on a personal basis, that is an interesting move.

As for why he called, it is simple, he is a director passionate about anime and he has a project he wants to work on and for that project, he needs an animation studio, one that is currently on the hunt for its next work, stars aligned and a new cooperation might begin.

Of course, first, Kira needs to talk to that veteran director, to learn about that project of his and to see if it is worth it.

As for why Toma Yuu called that man eccentric…

"Well, you will see when he comes here, it won't take that long, that man, I think, lives in Tokyo."

It only took a day for the veteran director to come.

Fukunaga Kenshin is a person of medium height, with messy black hair, and a goatee, he looks strict and like he means business. His whole look was even more highlighted when he was dressed sharp, like in today's meeting where he decided to come in a dark-blue suit and dark pants, truly a professional.

He took a seat in the office of the CEO and took a look at the young man in front of him, not looking surprised at all at the age of Kira Rowe.

As Kira was prepared to say the usual pleasantries, Fukunaga Kenshin interrupted him with a deep voice.

"I don't care about that!"

"Excuse me?"

Kira was surprised at the couple of words said by the older man, while Toma Yuu who was beside them could only sigh and mutter – "0 points for being polite…"

"I said I don't care about that, you know, all that non-important stuff, keep that for all those geezers, who only know how to talk, I will just ask you, will your anime studio work with me?"

At this point, Kira was kind of flustered but he learnt his lesson, always expect unexpected when it comes to the personality of people.

"We are indeed currently in the process of looking for a new project, so can you tell us more about your project?"

The veteran director kept that poker face look on and just answered shortly.

"It is a masterpiece, masterpiece I say, a war story that isn't about fighting, shooting and all those bullshit but about cruelty, losing humanity, a masterpiece!!!"

Toma Yuu and Kira looked at each other, figuring out what it could be about, from their perspective it sounded like it could be good but from a business perspective, unfortunately, fighting, shooting and all those "bullshit" sells well…

Fukunaga Kenshin could instinctively guess what those two were thinking about.

"Hmph, do you really think there is anything good about all those flashy Isekai, all shiny, no message, no point, but this story would truly mean something and I can guarantee people would love it."

Kira did get the point and looking at the confidence of the veteran director, he himself was looking forward to watching that kind of anime but at the same time he is a CEO, and he needs to work towards the betterment of his company.

While Kira was thinking, Toma Yuu said his piece to Fukunaga Kenshin.

"Kenshin-san, how many episodes are you planning to make for this anime?"

The answer to this question might change quite a lot of things because if it is a short project, taking a gamble on it, might be a good move.

At that question, Kenshin-san just smiled and with a face that said "I got you where I want you," he answered him.

"What episodes, it is going to be just a single one…"

Hearing that, Kira's eyes flashed.

"One episode…do you mean?"

"Yes, a movie, I am interested in creating an anime movie, so, are you in?"

Anime movie?

At those words Kira and Toma Yuu once again, for the third time actually, looked at each other, probably thinking the same thing - 'Well, that changes quite a lot of things…'
