Chapter 42 – Manhwa?

If you remember, John and Kira made a contract in which is written that Nexus Animation was going to animate the story under the umbrella of OnlyAnime. To not again bore you with the details, it took them some time but finally, John managed to strike a deal with that story's publisher.

Hearing that, Kira was excited because for once he didn't need to negotiate anything, as he had already gone through all the details with John, he only needed to make sure his studio was ready to accomplish this task.

"Tell me then, what is the name of the story."

After Kira asked that, John smiled and quietly said just two words – "The Boxer."

'The Boxer'?

These two words to this new otaku were really unfamiliar. Even though he has grown as an anime fan, he is still at the beginning of his path to becoming a true otaku, so the man himself still has a lot of stories yet to check out.

"Heh, I can hear from your breath that you don't have a clue what I am talking about, you fake otaku."

"Shut up, I am still in the process of figuring out the Fate series, and I didn't have time recently to check out anything else."

A bunch of excuses by our CEO, something we won't usually see from our main man, but in front of John, his friend, he is a lot more relaxed.

Chuckling at his friend, John decided to spare him the suffering.

"Here is the thing, we were planning to buy the rights to animate some manga, but it was really hard to secure them, as we are still new in this field and our reputation is in the process of growing, so our team decided to go with another route…"

"Another route?"

"Yup, we struck a deal with a manhwa publisher and we got the rights to animate one of the most famous manhwas out there, so here we are, 'The Boxer' is your next project."

"Manhwa…"

As an anime fan when you enter this rabbit hole you will come in contact with a bunch of different media that are interlocked with the world of anime - media like manga, light novels, visual novels, and more recently manhwas.

Manhwa is the name of a Korean comic, and in the last couple of years, they have become more and more popular in the world of otaku. Manhwas like Solo Leveling, Noblesse, Tower of God and God of High School all have a decent number of followers and some of them even got their own anime. So, it is safe to say that in the future even more of them will get animated and OnlyAnime decided this is a good time to enter that kind of venture, after all, it is not like they are going to give up all of this just because they couldn't buy the rights to animate some famous manga.

"What do you say, my friend, are you satisfied?"

Even though Kira didn't get the chance to read any manhwa, he did hear about them and was planning to check them out, so he got another reason now to make sure he is going to start reading them, especially the manhwa going by the name of 'The Boxer'.

"I am, like always, good job, I will make sure to give all the instructions to my team."

And just like that Nexus Animation was prepared to take on another big challenge, and enter an entirely new world, a place of different kind of stories, tropes and characters. To Kira that all sounded so fantastical – making it it seem like his heart, which was before just a business one, all of a sudden began changing into a true otaku heart.
