Chapter 36 – Marie Taylor

"Marie, sweetheart, I don't have any problem rejecting that offer, chances will come."

"There is no way in hell I will let you reject that, it is your dream and I won't be an obstacle to it."

For the last two weeks, we had the same conversation, the same sentences, over and over. My fiancée, my love, got an offer that he can't refuse, I won't allow him to refuse.

I know he loves me and I understand he is worried about my career, but him accepting a job offer from Japan doesn't mean my ambition is going to end. I love him and he loves me, so he wants to sacrifice himself for me…

My fiancée is a genius, specializing in advanced technology, he is also young and just graduated like me. A young and smart person like him of course got a lot of job offers and the best one was from Japan.

The problem here is that he thinks that if he accepts that, my career may come in jeopardy, because we will move a long way from home, also even though I don't have a job, my Oxford diploma and the experience I already have would guarantee me a lot of good job offers.

Also, moving to Japan, which has a completely different work culture, different language, and a lot of other stuff that might give me problems in getting a job and I don't want to be a housewife, even if his pay would be good enough for both of us, I have ambitions to make something of me.

But still, I love him, my fiancée is a good man willing to do everything for me and likewise, I would do everything for him. This is where the problem is, it looks like both of us are ready to sacrifice our careers for each other but from all the research I did about Japan – I am sure there is a company that will accept me, I truly believe that.

Though, my partner is worried and we have been practically arguing about this for quite some time, sometimes I want to beat his ass, as he is too concerned about me.

"Haaaah."

I couldn't help but sigh.

This is such a bother. I need to check again all the work available in the Japanese companies, maybe a spot or two will open up but I will be a foreigner there and I don't know a word of Japanese. I have a good CV but thinking carefully, this is going to be hard. I can see where my fiancée is coming from.

"Nothing is going to happen if I continue to be depressive, that's not me, I managed to solve bigger problems than just some language barrier, my work is going to be the best kind of language."

Having a silly monologue as a kind of encouragement and slapping my face with both hands, I exited the negative faze and the always-confident Marie Taylor was ready to enter the stage.

Brrrrrrrr

I was just about to return to my browsing when my phone started ringing.

"Who is it now, it is kind of late, oh…"

On my phone, it showed that my friend who I went to Oxford with was calling me.

"Marieee, finally I got to chance to hear your voice, darling, how are you?"

A sultry voice was heard from the other side and I unconsciously smiled.

"Kate, I am good, still looking for a job, you know, like everyone else."

"So, you are still looking for a job? Great, I actually called you because one of my friends is looking for employees in the marketing department, so I was wondering if you are interested?"

It is a blessing having such good friends, who even with all their problems take time to check on you, but unfortunately, as I am going to Japan, I will need to reject her goodwill.

"Thank you, really, for giving me a heads up about the job but I am soon moving to Japan, so…"

"Oh, oh, oh, don't get me wrong, I heard from Samantha that you have been kind of arguing with Martin about you moving to Japan, this friend of mine actually is a CEO and an owner of a company in Japan."

Hearing that, I couldn't help but gasp, that is such a fortunate circumstance and a good opportunity. I have a big trust in Kate and if she is the one mentioning this, that means that the boss of that company is a good person and that is important to me, maybe the most important part. After all, nobody likes to deal with assholes.

"Great, um, uf, what is the name of your friend and company, what kind of business is it?"

With a trembling voice, I asked my friend.

"I am glad you seem into it, you actually probably heard about him, remember, Kira Rowe, one of the best students in Oxford in recent years, in the top 3 definitely…"

Kate was going on and on about that guy and I do know some stuff about him, as he was quite famous, so I interrupted my friend.

"I do know those things about him, Kate, so what about the company?"

After I said that, I could hear a light cough on the other side, I can imagine her blushing, as she was caught rambling about that man, maybe her crush?

"The name of the company is Nexus Animation and like the name suggests it is an animation studio, they make anime there…"

"Anime?"

In the office of Kira Rowe in the Nexus Animation HQ, three men were standing by the desk of our main character, huddling above one specific CV, The name on the CV was – "Marie Taylor".

After a couple of minutes of looking at that CV, Kira raised his head and looked at Toma Yuu and Joshua Renji and excitedly said to them.

"We must do anything to hire her, ANYTHING."
