Chapter 3 – Joshua Renji

"Ugh, can you please shut up?"

With that sentence, Kira barely opened his eyes and in confusion looked around.

"Yeeeah, I am in Kisato, almost freaked out for a second."

"Hmm, oh yes this thing woke me up, let's see."

Raising from the bed Kira went to the desk so that he could pick up his phone.

"Hello, Kira here."

"Hahaha finally my boy, I thought you would never answer the phone."

A boisterous mainly voice full of energy greeted him. As it is only 7 am. The person on the other side of the phone must be an early bird.

Nonetheless, Kira with a smile answered the man.

"Uncle…Can you please not call me at 7 am, not everyone here can function normally 24 hours a day like you."

"Hahahaha, my boy you should look up to me, as a businessman this is a really important skill because you won't always get calls from people in your area. That's why your uncle is always on the top of his game."

That's how the beginning of the conversation went between Kira and the man he calls uncle.

With the usual how are you and how is your life, they soon started talking about more serious stuff and in their case, it was Nexus Animation that was the most important topic.

"Kira, I didn't call you last night because I wanted to give you space to decide what to do, don't want to rush you but it is important for everyone and for you to decide what to do, the sooner the better."

Kira of course could understand where his uncle was coming from. This is all business and the person currently paying everything when it comes to the studio is his uncle and the business partner of his late father.

"Before I say my answer, do you have any advice for me?"

"Like your father always said to you, do what you want to do, that's to both of us the most important thing."

"You know uncle I never liked anime, actually no I liked it but never as much as my father. Anime and manga were his passion, his call in life and everything…I on the other hand am just a casual…"

"Sooo, you are going to se…"

Before letting him finish, Kira continued with a determined voice.

"BUT, I always wanted to have my own business, to lead my people toward success, also I love a good challenge and don't you think creating the best anime studio is quite a daring challenge?"

If this was an anime, the audience would be able to see a fire in the eyes of our hero because all of those who know Kira would tell you he doesn't escape from a difficult challenge.

"Also, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I sold the studio my father gave everything to, I just can't do that, so there was only ever one option for me and it is the only correct one."

"..."

Silence. Not hearing a sound on the other end, Kira was somewhat confused.

"Uncle?"

"Hahahahahahahahah, right, right. I should have expected that kind of answer, you are his son after all. Okay my boy, in three days go to the HQ of Nexus Animation, I will introduce you to the staff, I know you are not busy and hey if we want to make money we need to act fast, three days will be enough for you to settle down…"

After finishing their serious conversation the uncle and nephew duo continued with a peal of laughter and both in a good mood to talk for another hour.

After finishing the talk Kira's uncle Joshua Renji was in a buoyant mood. Happy he had a wonderful conversation with the son of his best friend.

"My friend I am really sorry you won't see your son leading the studio you cherished so much, I know you would boast to all of us, he is such a fine young man."

With a trembling voice and with shy tears appearing in the corners of his eyes Joshua was deep in thought.

"I will try to help him as much as I can but Nexus Animation is not in great shape, he would need to become a competent leader fast, before it is too late for it."

Knock, knock.

"Hmm, come in"

With his permission, a small head peeked into the room.

"Daddy, Daddy, it's time for school."

Seeing his dear son who reminded him about an important appointment, Joshua with a warm smile went to the door and took the small hand of his son.

"Haha I almost forgot, let's go, after the school we can watch some anime together, so what do you think?"

"Yay, yay. Can we watch 'HunterxHunter'?" 

"Great choice my son, you have some fine taste in anime indeed, just like your dad, hahaha."

It seems after all is said and done Joshua Renji is also one big otaku.
