The Sacrifice

"Chika, do you trust me?"

Jeene looked at her in the eyes as she tore in desperation that Chika couldn't help but nodded her head.

"There is a way for us to be able to get out from this hell." Jeene holds Chika's hand tightly as she looks back at the Lord who keeps on attacking.

Chika swallowed a huge amount of saliva as she nodded her head in agreement. Jeene's face lit up with a suspicious smile on her lips.

"EVERYONE! WE WILL DO IT!!!"

Jeene suddenly yelled in a very loud voice, making sure that everyone could hear her. Then everyone was confused but cried in joy as they cheer them. She slowly stands up with Chika's hand and looks at the Lord.

The rest of the members that are still alive immediately gathered in front of the Lord and some even say 'thank you' to Chika which makes her confused.

Kalish is the only one who pulled Chika from Jeene in shock and desperation.

"What do you think you're doing!?" She said while trying to pull Chika's arm.

Jeene sneered and kicked Kalish away, "Do you want to live? If so, bowed down!"

After that commotion, Chika was confused and was about to ask Jeene but the Lord's roar makes her silent. At that time, the Lord didn't attack and rather look at them forming in front of him. This makes Chika have hope that whatever Jeene were about to do will save them from death.

Jeene slowly walked Chika in front of the Lord and leave her there standing as she retreated back and bowed with her head on the blooded cold floor.

Then they started hailing the Lord like he is some God. Kalish is the only one who didn't hail the Lord but rather cried herself out as she make eye contact with Chika.

"Kalish…"

Chika whispered as she unconsciously raise her hand towards Kalish's direction, her heart is beating so fast and her instinct screams danger.

The ground shakes as the Lord took a step away from his territory and lowered himself and grabbed Chika in hand.

"AHHH!"

Chika's reflex to run away is too late and got caught by the Lord's hand, "Jeene!!"

Jeene looked at Chika with a crazy smile as her eyes looks psychotic, "We don't want to die! You will remain in our hearts as a hero!"

By hearing what Jeene said, Chika finally realize what it means. She will be the sacrifice to help them escape.

"No… NO! JEENE!!!"

Chika screamed with her hand reaching out for help but nobody dared to help her, they all look miserable while smiling for hope. Hope for them to live for another day.

Chika feels betrayed but the hate for herself grows stronger. She hates herself for trusting someone who she thinks is a good person, for being so naive to reality but most of all, she hates herself for being so weak.

Tears silently slide on her cheeks and fall in the air. Her eyes lost their lively color as her face is void of emotion.

'I'm gonna die'.

Chika smiled a little as she holds the necklace that belongs to her birth mother while closing her eyes. She accepts her faith to die in the hands of a monster to save many lives.

The Bat Lord opens his mouth and swallowed Chika. This makes him feel full and retreated back to his spot and sleep.

This makes the rest of the members instantly get up and went to the door and escape. Kalish just sits there with her eyes staring blankly into space.

"Her sacrifice saved our lives, be thankful rather than sulk in the corner and die," Jeene whispered as she walked past Kalish.

"You're a monster!" Kalish looks back at Jeene with hateful eyes.

Jeene only sigh and walked towards the gate where the men were able to destroy a small hole for them to go out.

Two fighters help Kalish to stand herself as they all exit the Boss room. She could see the joy of the remaining members for being alive but she can't say anything as more than half of the members are dead including their leader Isaki.

One last look from the Lord's room, Kalish shred tears for the girl that she just met that day who became the reason why she's alive.

"Chika… I'm sorry."
