A Certain Nun

[Early Morning — Kuoh Park]

{Asia Argento}

I-I do not know how to ask for help.

"Name?" I asked back to the boy who was fidgeting around confused.

"Name!" He nodded and pointed at himself, "Hyoudou Issei!"

After hearing a few people, I did learn a few works. But I could still not speak or even understand sentences.

"Hyoudou Issei?" But I got his name.

Hyoudou, his name is Hyoudou.

I do not know what his name means. But it sounds like a name close to god.

Is he a catholic too?

They said a lot of Japanese people are Christian.

I hope he is a believer.

"Name?" He repeated looking at me.

And I finally had the courage to answer, "Asia Argento."

"Asia." He repeated my name, amused at it.

Most pronounced it like the continent's name. So, it is understandable that he finds the pronunciation amusing.

But if I wanted his help, I somehow had to be able to communicate.

"Do you…" I do not know why, but I continued to use my native tongue. Maybe I hoped he could catch on a word or two and maybe understand what I was looking for. "Do you know where the church is?"

I was excommunicated, I had nowhere left to go.

But Father up in heaven is never cruel to his children. He must have a reason for these hardships that I am facing.

"Church?" And I was right.

No matter the language, some words are always known to all.

And the church, a place of worship helped me to communicate.

And maybe, I will also find shelter there.

I heard there is an abandoned Church that I can stay at.

It is painful that a sacred place is left unattended, but maybe it is all his plan. Maybe he justs wants me to find a place to live, to belong to and to restore the church.

He scratched his head, looking around the place.

"Church…" He seemed confused, "Which?"

It surprised me when he randomly used an English word. It was not common for Japanese people to use English, at least not in this place, and sadly neither was I fluent in English.

Thankfully, I knew a word or two. And I could at least understand what he meant.

"Abandoned… church."

My English wasn't good. I wasn't sure how to properly form sentences in the language, but I hoped he would understand me.

Sadly, his English wasn't good either.

"Abandoned?" He repeated the word, scratched his head and appeared confused.

He didn't know what the word meant, and that sadly brought us back to where we started from.

The church, yet not sure which one.

I thought of drawing a run down church on the ground, yet neither my artistic skill nor my love for God could allow me to draw a church in a sad state and on the ground that people might walk over.

Maybe this was another test.

I just had to figure out what it exactly was.

Was it to find a way to communicate with him and bring him closer to God, or to travel on my own on the search for the church.

And as I tried to think what father wanted, I heard another voice coming towards our way.

One that called out the name of the boy before me.

"Issei?" Followed by words that I did not understand.

As for the person's name?

I heard it from Hyoudou's gasp.

"Reo?"

{Alert: Supernatural Being}

{Threat: Low-Low Level}

{Type: Blessed Human}

The only reason I even bothered turning towards this park was this notification and seeing Issei ogling at the threat in question.

"What are you doing here?" He instantly changed his tone to somewhat respectful after realizing that I was still his senior.

"I could be asking you the same thing."

Well, I could guess what was going on.

"W-Well, I was just trying to help her." He said, reminding of when that Fallen girl tried asking me for help. Asking for directions.

"She is just looking for directions to the church, but she speaks another language. So, I don't know which church she is talking about." He sounded defeated.

And somehow it sounded somewhat similar to what I went through.

Minus the language difference, but the Fallen girl, Yuuma wanted directions too. However… something told me that this girl wasn't the same as Yuuma.

And even if she was, she was still only Low-Low level. If I throw everything I have, I should be able to win against her.

But shoving all those thoughts at the back of my head, I asked her the important question.

"So, which church are you looking for?"

Issei looked at me like I was dumb.

"Dude, I told you she speaks another language." His eyebrows were raised from amusement.

However, the girl replied. Albeit in another language, but I still got a response.

"See." Issei said, shaking his head. "Another language, we don't understand anything."

That's where he was wrong.

"Well…" I put on a smile as I talked to the girl. "Italian?"

Her eyes immediately grew large hearing that.

"Italian!" He nodded strongly, hoping I knew the language. She even spoke a few more words with it.

Unfortunately, I only knew what it sounded like thanks to a few Italian shows that I watched on the internet with subtitles on.

"Wait, it's Italian?" Issei seemed surprised. "So, that's what Italian sounds like."

But then he suddenly looked at me, "Wait you know Italian?"

"No." I answered honestly, "I don't."

"Heh," he smiled. "Then we better find someone that can speak Italian."

Not necessarily.

"Wait, what are you doing?" He asked as he saw me taking out my phone and scrolling around.

Even the girl —whose name I had yet to get— appeared just as confused.

But after like ten seconds, I moved closer to the girl and typed out a few words on my phone. And the moment she laid eyes on them, she was shocked.

She understood immediately what I was trying to do, and after reading the text, nodded at the initial text —but by the time she reached the last line she shook her head.

"What are you doing?" Issei was curious, but first came helping the girl.

I mean, a girl looking for a church cannot be evil, right?

"Helping her." Saying that, I did something different. "And since I cannot help her directly, I am using technology for it."

Issei seemed confused, but after a while, as I tapped a few more things on the phone, he understood what I was trying to do.

"Hello, my name is Reo Takeda, do you understand me?"

"Google translate." Issei smacked his own head, ashamed at forgetting such an easily accessible technology.

The earlier message I wrote out read — 'Do you need help, miss? Do you understand what is written here and can you use a phone?'

I expected to get a positive response for all parts of that question, but she surprisingly said no to the last part. Now, I do not understand her circumstance, but it is rare to find a person of our age who doesn't know how to use a phone.

And it wasn't that she was poor. The fabric of her clothes looked expensive, the few other items she wore were also expensive.

Or are people serving in the church not allowed phones?

"I-I do." She finally replied, voicing out her thoughts and the voice assistant translating her words to Japanese.

I am so lucky to have been born in this day and age.

"My name is Asia Argento. I am from Italy, but because of circumstances, I ended up here. I am looking for an old church that is abandoned."

The translations might not be perfect, but it still gave me more than enough information to help her.

But I still had questions of my own.

"Why are you looking for an abandoned Church?"

I would not have bothered normally, but the system said she is a supernatural. So, it was not an entirely different case.

"Come on man," Issei was very impatient. "She is clearly in need of help. Let's just ask questions later and help her first."

This guy…

Ignoring him, I looked at the girl once again. And she did not go without giving me an explanation.

"I… I am looking for a place to live." Despite the stutter, there was something in her eyes that said she wasn't lying.

I wasn't an expert at reading people, but I did not get much of a weird feeling talking to her.

"Wouldn't living at a church that is looked after by people be better then?" She was a nun, so it made sense that she would stay at a church and not at a hotel.

But why a run down church?

"I… I can't."

At that moment, I thought of asking why. But I heard how hurt she sounded and decided against it.

She had her reasons, maybe it had everything to do with her being a supernatural and ending up in Japan as an Italian.

But what could it be?

System did not warn me, neither did Rias told me about Blessed Humans. So, maybe… It might not be a bad idea to just help her.

"Well…you should go from here, move past the railway crossing and go left from there. If you walk for fifteen minutes straight from there, you should be at the old church." I answered as I did go around that place quite a lot in the past.

Although that has changed a lot in the recent few months.

As for her?

The moment she got the directions, her face bloomed into a very pretty smile. I was amazed at how fast her emotions changed, and I was amazed even more that she seemed genuinely happy. Not just appearing to be.

"Thank you, Mr. Reo!" Her face beamed, "Thank you so much!"

I could feel Issei boring daggers at my back. But I didn't mind the boy.

"T-Then I will get going." She said, "Thank you so much! May God bless you!"

I could only smile. "Thank you for the blessing."

"God always helps the kind people. And you are kind." She then turned to look at Issei, "Thank you too, Mr. Hyoudou!"

The Google translate helping her out, and it made Issei grin.

"Don't worry about it!"

She dusted the dust off her skirt, and thanked us multiple times.

She is very polite.

Before finally leaving towards the old church, while the little pervert stared at her with a grin.

"Aww, I hope I can meet her again… This time I will keep Google translate running in the background." He nodded, talking to himself. "Or maybe I should just learn Italian! Will that be hard? Maybe. But it will definitely be worth it!"

Seeing him making up scenarios, I sighed and decided to ask.

"Don't you have class?"

This instantly made the boy freeze and he almost went pale.

"W-What… is the time?"

"You should be able to reach by the time the second period starts if you run at your best speed." I could barely hide my smirk as I knew he missed his first period.

"Crap!" He shouted, "And don't you have classes too?"

"Only the third period. Final year, we don't have that many classes. Mostly personal study hours."

"Lucky you…" He grunted, but I wish it was that good.

Projects, finals preparation and competitive exam stress namely the university entrance.

It was far too stressful.

But at this instance, there was no one more stressed than Issei.

"Ah! I am leaving." But before he could bolt away, he wanted another answer. "By the way… Why did Asia call you by your first name and call me Hyoudou?"

I knew he was going to ask this.

And so, with a smile, I answered.

"Well, unlike in Japan. Western and almost every other country says their given name and then family name when introducing. So, she thought your first name is Hyoudou and family name is Issei." I could see his face going blank.

"That's why I got called by the first name, and you got called by the family name." Alongside a chuckle, I decided to walk to class too. "Anyhow, I'm going. And you should rush too, Mr. Hyoudou."

I didn't turn to look, but I could bet his face was hilarious.
