Chapter 29 Will you protect me?

"Most Young Devils that I have encountered who have their Peerages set up to be like that, have a reason for that. How much I go against it, it's part of the Deal. That being said."

Cupping her cheek, Rias had no idea why she let Issei touch him but there was no reason to let him stop doing that.

She nuzzled in his touch as she watched him speak.

"You are too good to be treated like that. It wouldn't be a rightful place for a girl like you."

The strong voice was backed by his honesty.

Yet, there was something in her body that knew the truth and she wanted to hear it from Issei.

"Issei, if I can be honest. Dragons aren't exactly known for a monogamous nature either."

She would find that the sheepish side of Issei was a nice change of pace. Looks like he wasn't that done with maturing either.

"Well, I'm working on that. My partner says that I am not that mature yet. But I will not force a girl to be with me. If I find a girl who by, a matter of speech, reacts to me, I'll take her in but that will be on our own accord."

Issei let her face go and watched the girl before him.

"But that is neither here nor there. This isn't about my love life. It's about the fact you want to avoid you ending up married to this sleazebag. Does he have a name?"

"Riser Phenex." The disgust filled Rias' entire body as Issei watched her talk.

The name struck a weird chord with Issei. Phenex. But where had he heard that name before?

"Alright. That aside, Rias, can you play all your card on the table? You're an immature Devil. I'd say that you have a few years before this goes somewhere. Not a bad thing that you are looking for power now."

The sadness on her eyelashes made Issei feel like he had just stepped on a major landmine.

"I would have that. But I have heard from my parents and sister that Riser and his parents want to hurry up the process. So that is why I want to ask you." Issei felt his heart-tugging on his chest.

It was clear how this weighed on Rias and how her faith, her entire future, and that of her and her Peerage were placed on him.

Issei realized that because he had promised Asia to Rias, the future of the little Nun also landed on him.

If Rias lost this match, Asia, Akeno, and Koneko would be going to this guy.

Neither of those girls deserved to be married off to a guy like that.

If only because he wanted them for himself.

Issei would be mature enough to admit that he liked those women.

But it wasn't just their bodies.

Rias had a good sense of humor and she was great to be around as she had some class which was awesome.

Akeno was great for teasing back and forth plus, Issei saw a kindred soul in her. How much they had in common, he was all too eager to find out.

Koneko and he got along better with their matches. Issei got more snacks from her.

So Issei didn't want to hand those girls over.

To anyone.

The White Dragon would win them over. And with how closer Rias was getting to him, Issei was mesmerized by those beautiful eyes.

"Will you help me, Issei? Will you protect me?"

"I will, Rias. That is a promise and an oath." The heat was going on and Rias leaned in closer to Issei.

Nothing else needed to be said as Issei felt that it was now good enough. He wrapped an arm around her delicate shoulders and slowly pressed her closer to his chest as they watched the sunset.

They just sat there contently watching the shadow of the day as they didn't need anything else. Smiling at him, Rias found that she couldn't let her [Queen] steal a march on him.

Pecking him on the cheek, Issei felt those heat up again. But he felt there was no reason to complain about it.

In fact, he welcomed it.

It had been too long since a woman had that sort of effect on him. So he would take it for what it was worth and run with it.

When Issei got back home, it had gotten dark. The full moon was already glowing and he didn't believe how late he made it.

After Rias and he had recovered, he had taken her for a spin on his car and dropped her off.

When he parked his Ford in his garage, he walked upstairs.

The house had been quiet which was something that he had expected.

On the dinner table, Issei found the three uniforms and a note.

'Issei Hyoudou. We have gotten over the information we have received.

Asia Argento and the Fallen Angel Raynare are placed in your class, 2B. It is up to you to make sure that they are watched over.

The Fallen Angel, Mittelt, has been transferred to a class with junior Devils.

The Fallen Angel, Kalawarner, has been assigned as your homeroom teacher. It is up to you to find human aliases.'

Issei had already thought of a few names. Raynare had hers ready.

'We also inform you that they are assigned to the Occult Research Club where Rias Gremory and her Peerage house. We hope this isn't an issue.'

Issei had hoped to start training his Fallen Angels and the more they had, the more they would learn from one another. Plus, if Asia could get around the Devils, Issei would find it was a great start.

'Next Monday, they are enrolled in our school. Best regards, Sona Shitori.'

Issei had to drop by the Student Council to thank them. And also to inform Sona of Sarakawa.

Dragons rarely matched but Issei found that something pulled him towards that girl.

He would deal with one problem at a time. For now, he would see that the residents in his house would get a good place in the school.
