CHAPTER 7: 5% POWER OF THE DEMON KING

Karin gritted her teeth, she had been naive to think that Yu could handle a demon from the seven rings on his own, and now she had sent yet another one to his death. It's always like that, ever since Amaterasu left, every partner she had ended up dying because she thought they were strong enough. Even her boyfriend died because of her trusting nature.

The hordes of creatures around her weren't diminishing. For every fifteen she kills, seven more take their place. "Damn it." She cussed and swung her blade cutting down another dozen creatures.

Pernacuis laughed as he watched her get overwhelmed. "That's it boys, rip her to shreds." The amusement provided by the two didn't cease to amuse him. Two humans, naively clinging to hope in a hopeless situation, even if he was a demon that worked with trickery. That didn't mean he was weak, being from the upper echelons meant that strength to survive was a must.

With the brat dead, the woman would surely follow. He just needed to explore her before she died and with the numbers against her, it was only a matter of time. Humans using the impure combination of the remnants or energy left during the war were pitiful. Although Pernacuis had to give it to them, they managed to kill Matou, even if he was a demon from the lower echelons, he was his trustworthy companion and personally trained by him. To die that easily, meant these two weren't regular humans but neither way he. He was no regular demon.

Back with Yu, his heart started to beat, the broken bones began to repair themselves, and his eyes spanned wide. Their obsidian glow mixed with purple, the rings around the pupil swirled around with nether, an overwhelming source of negative energy but controlled. On his right shoulder blade emerged a wing, on his forehead a horn protruded and his right hand grew claws for nails. Another hand wiggled out of his rib, tearing through Yu's clothing.

He breathed in, his fingers twitching and a maniacal laughter escaped his lips. "How I have waited! I've awakened." He changed his motion, from ascending to descending.

Yu's hand reached for the sun blade, it vibrated against his touch however, his nether corrupted it, turning the pure blade obsidian as the night sky.

With the sword firmly in his grasp, Yu nove dived, his wing flapped accelerating his descent. The wind brushed against his face, his eyes peered through the darkness, and found his target. With a grin, Yu switched the sword position and held the blade to his side, a purple glow escaped the blade and he swung down vertically.

Pernacuis's laughter stopped and a shower of blood escaped his back, he let out a howl of pain and turned around to see what had cut him. His eyes widened seeing Yu kneeling there with his sword held in a reverse grip. His hand concealing his face.

"But I killed you!!" He yelled, he could not understand, how a human could survive after having his ribs shattered, his heart crushed by his ribs and his lungs punctured through.

Yu chuckled and raised his head, giving Pernacuis a full look at him. "If I was a human sure, that would've killed me but I'm not human, the kid is something you can never comprehend vermin."

It was then Pernacuis saw the malevolent aura around Yu, it held his soul in its grasp, and at that moment, Pernacuis witnessed his death. A gruesome death at the hands of that thing before him, it was no demon but it radiated tremendous amounts of negative energy, one as high as the seven rulers. His animal instincts told him to run.

And he acted on them.

Pernacuis jumped away from Yu, in a single leap he covered the distance between the castle walls and the courtyard, he landed on the walls, his face showing signs of sweat. He was scared, the aura that the boy had was out of this world, and he wanted to kill himself just in the presence of it.

"Phew, I'm glad he's still in the courtyard."

"Who?"

"That freaky kid… wait who are you?" Pernacuis turned around and dread filled his stomach, there sitting beside him comfortably on the stone wall looking at him was none other than the person he tried to run away from, Yu.

Yu smirked seeing the expression on Pernacuis face. He got up from the spot and walked over to the demon, his sword idly by his side. "You thought you could run from me? Where's that tough act you had? You were certain we could not defeat you so why are you running now?"

Pernacuis growled and jumped away from the wall only to return where he was. He looked at Yu and saw the boy was still walking toward him with no care in the world. What had brought him back? He was certain that he had jumped away from him, his leaps could cover vast distances but it seemed as if he did not move. Pernacuis jumped again, just as his feet were about to leave the wall, space glitched and he was back where he had started, at the wall and Yu was arm's reach away.

"What did you do to me?" Pernacuis asked moving away from Yu while Yu got closer.

Yu's eyes glowed purple and the rings rotated hypnotically. "It's nothing really, my eyes just bound you to where you stand. No matter what you do, you won't be able to move from that position. I'm certain you've seen these eyes before."

Pernacuis looked closely at Yu's eyes and his eyes widened in shock. "If can't be, the eyes of the demon kin…".

Pernacuis couldn't finish his sentence when his mouth split open and the black sword Yu was holding was shoved into his mouth severing his tongue. Yu placed his hand on his lips, "Now now, what if someone heard you?" He pushed on the sword, his feet starting to levitate until he was hovering at eye level with Pernacuis.

Pernacuis choked on his blood, and he looked Yu in the eyes, those haunting eyes reminded him of his weakness. Living over a thousand years, he had been subject to ridicule from his kind. The previous demon king had the exact same eyes, those damned eyes that showed the difference between the seven-ring rulers and the demon king. The damn eyes of annihilation, have once again managed to find their way to pester him after all.

The months he had plotted, the curse he had placed on the king while pretending to be his advisor. His preparations were getting soiled by this brat. Pernacuis jerked his head back and let out a scream so loud, the kingdom of Toru heard it.

The north gate, the east gate, and the west gate began to show phenomenons that even the gate guards and the monstery could not explain. A blanket of darkness rose from all three points and rushed to the wall.

Yu looked at the north gate and chuckled as he jumped back from Pernacuis just as the three waves of darkness crashed into the demon. His eyes caught onto the components making up the darkness gathered he smirked even further. Human souls, the demon was indeed cunning, to say the least.

In the sphere, Pernacuis body shrunk in size until he was the height of Yu, his back opened and the darkness rolled back into his body like goo, the wails of the souls within the darkness becoming his cries. He threw his head back as some of the darkness fragments covered his chest forming a dark cape and two wings emerged from his back.

He stretched his hands and the ball of darkness vanished. "To think, I was almost scared to even use this firm.".

Yu stared at the demon unimpressed, soul gathering was pitiful and it made sense as to why a demon like him would latch into a city like Xin, harvesting souls. His grin grew bigger, he wanted to see what this version of the coward he had at death's door was capable of accomplishing, Yu raised his hand and suggested Pernacuis to attack him.

Pernacuis had a smirk of his own. "Don't say I didn't give you a chance to beg for your life." He opened his palm, bent his fingers a bit, and in a flash, he swung up releasing a veil of darkness which cut through the wall on each side attempting to pincher Yu in the center.

Yu jumped up just as the darkness veil cut through the wall he was on, reducing it to rubble. His eyes glanced around but he could not see Pernacuis.

The demon saw Yu jump and followed behind him, he appeared behind Yu and slammed his hands on his side sending Yu crashing into the houses outside the royal palace. He landed on the ground next to the rubble building and raised his hand once more, his fingers unfolded concealing his face, and a dark orb gathered in the center before Pernacuis launched it.

The orb turned into a wave that demolished the houses in his line of sight, reducing an entire street block to rubble. "Haha, cocky bastard."

"I could say the same for you," Yu said as he walked out of the destruction, he had no physical scarring and the only thing that was harmed was his clothing, the top he wore was in tatters exposing his chest.

Pernacuis seeing the man gritted his teeth, his triumphant smirk gone. His attacks barely harmed the boy standing before him. "You bastard."

Yu chuckled and flipped his sword around in his hand. He took a step forward and vanished, Pernacuis felt his leg and arm slide from his body making him stagger. He looked behind him, and saw Yu with his sword dripping blood, his regenerative ability started to work amending the damage but Yu did not allow that.

Yu switched the blade to his left hand and dashed forward again, he swung horizontally cutting the demon in half, and with the demon's body separate, he kicked the legs away from him and grabbed the upper body, he flung the screaming demon to the sky and watched as the body of Pernacuis tried to reassemble itself

"Sun Form: Dark Heavenly Demon." Black flames, spawned from hell itself appeared on the blade and they covered his body forming a dark angel of death around him, bending his feet, Yu jumped and swung his blade sending the flames through Pernacuis, the flames consumed the demon which screamed as the souls trapped in his body started to escape from the orifices the flames were creating. As they died down, Pernacuis' body was nothing but dust that flew with the wind.

Yu landed on the courtyard and looked at the sky, the sun was starting to peak out of the horizon, its light cleaning away the night. He looked at the courtyard and saw all the corpses and the destruction. He chuckled as he raised his hand, the demons Karin had slaughtered turned into a dark most which got absorbed in his hand.

Karin having witnessed this being in Yu's body fight, she shivered a bit, but steeled her nerves and approached him. "Who are you?"
