When Push Comes to Shove

“Uhh... let’s see... hmm... umm... oh, shoot! There’s not a single child in that village!”

Marco realizes it just now. While travelling in the village, the company saw multiple people, ranging from old to young, but there’s no children in sight. But they paid little attention to that since they’re trying to avoid contact with the villagers.

“That’s right, Marco. There’s no child in there.”

“That fulfills the role of ‘strange’, of course.”

“Not only that... I just happen to notice this, Marco. Did you remember the well back then?”

“Uh-huh. I’ve checked to see if there’s any voices, but there’s nothin’.”

“And did you realize why would there be a well in there while a river is just a few meters from it?”

“...!!! You’re right! Now that you said it... I didn’t hear anything aside from airflow in that well. There’s not a drop of water to be heard... does this mean...”

“We’ve been in front of our target the whole time, Marco. We just didn’t realize it.”
