Secret Agenda

Lunargard Training Camp

Amidst the commotion between the dragon-slayers scattered about the camp in training, they were graced with the unanticipated presence of a lone but fierce woman.

"..."

A clamor of surprise ran through the training grounds as Blaze stepped forward, pulling out her two dragon-slaying javelins from her back in one swift swoop.

The Lunargard Council had originally granted her with three full months of leave to let her recover from what happened to the Ember Tribe, so no one at camp expected her to show up for today's expedition.

Kaiser was a fellow dragon-slayer belonging to the same unit as Blaze, and so he took the initiative to approach his unexpected teammate. He came to a stop right in front of her, forcing Blaze to halt in her tracks as he was standing in her way. "Hey, what are you doing here?" Kaiser asked curiously.

"Don't tell me you're planning to join the expedition today, Blaze?"

Blaze simply ignored him, keeping her face down to avoid having to look at his face. She moved to the side to continue walking, pretending as if she didn't hear him talking to her or if he was talking to someone else, but the man went on to block her way once again.

"Hey, Blaze!"

Without another choice, Blaze lifted her downwards gaze, rolling her eyes at him in irritation.

Kaiser met Blaze's annoyed expression with confusion. He didn't know why she was looking at him like that…maybe she was in a bad mood, or perhaps he had said something wrong? But either way, she looked as if she'd rather flip him over her shoulder and drown him in the pond nearby than talk to him.

"Hey, Kaiser, what do you take me for? I didn't know you were so eager for a nice beating. I'll give you exactly one more chance, block me again if you want to die today," she seethed, and she cast him a menacing, cold glare.

Kaiser flinched under her sharp gaze, chills down his spine. He had approached her without thinking and only now realized the situation he just brought upon himself.

"O- oh, I'm sorry," he quickly apologized. "I took the liberty of confronting you since I was one of the few people here that you knew. I had no intention to wake the sleeping lioness. A- again, I'm sorry."

He just wanted to take the chance to have a little chat with the Ember Tribe's pride, but he had no plans today to be stabbed to death by a weapon meant for killing dragons. As much as he liked glamorous women such as her, he wisely stepped aside and did not push his luck.

Blaze smirked. "You cherished your life. Smart choice, Kaiser," she murmured.

The other dragon-slayers came into view as she continued forth, and the crowd grew silent as Blaze caught and quickly became the center of attention.

When the Ember Tribe still existed, dragon-slayers from their tribe would isolate themselves from members of the other tribes to train amongst themselves. It had only been a few weeks since she was last here, but it seemed like the Lunargard Training Camp had changed so much already. No, a lot of things changed in the Lunarguard Faction since the Ember Tribe perished.

She stood idly waiting for Colleen, who was late as usual, to be her temporary partner for the upcoming expedition. Whether they liked it or not, Blaze would take part in today's excursion.

Who could stop her anyway, if this was what she wanted? The two faction council members that were assigned to supervise the Ember Tribe's dragon-slayers, Winter and Blake, were both gone. Technically speaking, she wasn't under anybody. She was a free agent from now on.

Unless the Lunargard council appointed someone from the few survivors of Ember Tribe to become a new member of their council, that would remain the case.

Alone, Blaze's eyes began to dart left and right, searching the crowds for someone who might seem suspicious.

Who's the traitor? Was the traitor even here?

Blaze couldn't help but think about the possibility that the person who killed her older brother and forced Winter to escape was amongst the dragon-slayers here surrounding her. Who could it be?

…was it Kaiser?

Blaze peered over her shoulder to catch a glimpse of the man in question.

The skinny flirt of a dragon-slayer flinched for the second time as he was caught staring, averting his gaze from Blaze's blood-curdling stare. On the outside, Blaze may seem to just be a seductive, hard-to-get woman. But in reality, Blaze was a terrifying monster who had the ability to obliterate anything on her path if she just felt like doing so.

Yikes!

It took courage for Kaiser to hurry away as soon as he regained control over his body after being petrified by Blaze's glare. It was the chilly winter season, yet beads of sweat managed to form on his forehead from just the brief eye-to-eye contact with the Ember Tribe's lioness.

"Whatever you do, don't f*cking look back at her, else you might really die today, Kaiser," the skinny dragon-slayer mumbled to himself in fear. He warned himself not to attempt flirting with her anymore, to not even look at her if not necessary. He thought that he finally had a chance to shoot his shot since Winter and Blake were no longer around to stop him. But now he felt grateful to the two for protecting him from the lioness in the past.

Her glares were enough to kill a Dragon!

While waiting for Colleen, Blaze's thoughts ran wild. In her pent-up anger, she could already imagine herself cleaving away on a Wyvern's wings until it couldn't fly anymore, giving the creature of destruction a taste of its own medicine.

The last time she slain a Dragon was a couple of months ago, accomplished through thorough planning and execution, and it led to an instant stab through the beast's scaly neck that sealed its fate. She wouldn't let the same fate happen to the mysterious Frost Dragon that massacred her tribesmen and erased the Ember Tribe from existence.

It was only proper that the Frost Dragon receive the most painful end she could bring upon it, at best, let it slowly suffer till its well-deserved death.

Though killing the Frost Dragon was one of her ultimate goals, first things must come first. She needed to find and help Winter clear his name. Even though she didn't know how to, she needed to convince Winter to help her and Colleen find the culprit no matter what. She was certain Winter would have an idea.

…It must be painful for him not to be able to mourn for Blake with them.

But the problem was, hell, she didn't know how she was going to talk to him when she finds him. They never have a proper conversation outside of sex. At times when she was asking him about important matters, he would answer with only a few simple words if the questions weren't answerable with an easy nod or a shake of his head.

Pffffftttt!

Blaze burst out laughing.

There was one time when she asked Winter if he liked her during sex. The bastard pulled out with no hesitation and left without a word, leaving her dissatisfied.

"What are you laughing about, you freak?"

She didn't realize before, but she came to notice that Colleen was now standing right in front of her.

"Nothing important. They're funny, that's all," Blaze simply said.

Colleen narrowed her eyes at her in suspicion and shook her head with a sigh.

"If you say so then," she muttered. "…Did you prepare what I told you?"

Blaze frowned at her best friend and scoffed, offended. How could she have not?

"Of course, I did! How can I possibly forget something so important?" she grumbled. "Today we must find the bastard who killed our Blake."

Okay, preparation for the first dungeon delve!
