Finally, exiting the dungeon, Elena retraced her way back with the help of Dracula's map.

By the time she finally got to her room, she was mentally exhausted. thinking back to the living condition of the humans and how they were treated like livestock, Elena was angry.

"Alacad, that liar." She said to herself. if anything, she was going to make him pay for dragging her into all of this and also lying to her.

Still thinking about all the humans she had just killed left a sour taste in her mouth. opening up the several systems notifications she had received after consuming human blood, she was stunned.

System notification!.

Congratulations!! The following rewards have been granted to you for successfully hunting and consuming the blood of your first human prey. +10 stat points to strength. + 10 stat points to agility. +10 stat points in speed. +5 stat points in charm. + 5 stat points in intelligence.

Seeing the huge rewards, she was confused. was the system encouraging her to haunt humans and drink their blood directly or what?

since becoming a vampire, she had never been as conflicted as she was feeling right now. she had never put much thought into how they got their blood in zastlevania since alacad had told her the humans were freely living among vampires.

Finally, she decided to put her thoughts aside and call it a day. she lay on her bed and relaxed for the

remaining hours of the night.

[The next morning]

All students are expected to be in the announcement hall in 15 minutes!. The voice of instructor Bella was being projected into all of their minds. every single student in the academy had heard her voice clearly.

They all began to make their way to the designated location. Before 15 minutes, the hall was already filled with thousands of students. Elena was also present in the hall.

sitting next to her in the left was Zareth to her right was Emeira and Lydia. they all sat together as they were already used to one another during their short stay in the academy.

Attention!!

we called you all here due to the recent events and attacks in the academy. yesterday, we lost four first year students during the simulation drill.

[Chatter. Chatter]

This revelation sent the students into a panicked state. some were already aware of the possibility of losing one or two students, but confirming the actual number came as a low blow to them.

Seeing the look on their faces, instructor Gerald continue. " We are already investigating yesterday's incident, we assure you the lives of those students losts would be avenged."

Due to recent events in the academy, we would be declaring a state of emergency, and during this time, all students are expected to go back home to their various cities until the investigations are concluded.

The students were obviously surprised with the decision of the academy to send them back home.But Gerald continued regardless.

"It takes a great deal to put the safety of others first before yours in dire situations. It takes a greater deal to put your life on the line to save those you barely know."

For this reason, zastlevania Warriors Academy and Lord Antoine, the Lord of the first city of zastlevania, will be giving a student the honorary title of the "Potector of souls."

[Chatter . Chatter]

Everyone present was confused about Gerald's speech. none of them was aware of what elena had done the previous day except for Zareth, who at this point began clapping as he turned to look at Elena with a wide smile on his face as he said thank you.

Hearing her name, she stood up and began taking confident strides as she walked up to the platform.

Standing on the large platform was Instructor Gerald and Lord Antoine. Elena joined them on the platform as she scanned through the room. So far, she was unable to see a certain person, who was none other than Arwin. not thinking much about it, she concentrated on her present.

" For saving my ward and not letting more harm come to her, I present you this token as a sign of my appreciation and also a permanent position at my court." Lord Antoine said. Stretching out his palm, Elena could see a round transparent looking crystal that was as big as a baseball.

Bowing down slightly, she collected the crystal from him. "As the protector of souls, I hope this Crystal serves and protects you during your time of needs." Lord Antoine said before allowing Gerald to continue once more.

Elena returned back to her seat, and she asked zareth, "What about Arwin? Is she okay?". shaking his head, he responded, "No, she's still with the healers. I'm afraid just the healers alone won't be able to save her. the creature you killed back in the maze, I think it was a wyvern, i believe that since she was stung by that creature only by killing another wyvern and creating an antidote from it, will Arwin be save.

Hnm. I would love it if we kept what happened in the maze just between us. Elena said. zareth smiled and stretched out his hands for a handshake. deal! the both smiled as they shook hands.

Elena! Elena ! Do you wanna volunteer? Emeira's voice finally made zareth and elena aware of what was going on around them.

Volunteer with what? She asked back, half confused. Em, Lord Antoine is sending out a search party to find a cure for Arwin's illness, and anyone is welcome to volunteer.There will be rewards for those involved in finding the cure.

Hearing this, elena knew there was a lot of information. Lord Antoine and Gerald were deliberately withholding from the students, but nevertheless, no guardian or parents would stand idly by while watching their child die.

I thought we were free to go back to our home? she asked Emiera, but Lydia was quick to respond. "Those who choose to volunteer obviously won't be going back home with everyone else."

So do you wanna volunteer? Emiera asked again. looking ahead, Elena could see two students had already volunteered they were already standing on the platform with Gerald and Lord Antoine.

[Sigh]

Anything else is better than going back to Alacad, elena mumbled to herself before responding to emira. "Sure, I mean, we can't let those two claim all the rewards for themselves now. Can we?

Hearing Elena's response, Lydia and Emiera laughed lightly [HaHa]. I thought as the protector of souls you would want to do it for the love of protecting the weak and not for the rewards. Lydia teased.

Elena just shrugged. if anything Arwin certainly isn't weak, for one thing apart from the reward, she was willing to go on this adventure not just because she didn't want to return back to Alacad, but simply because she now considers Arwin as a friend, afterall Arwin once saved her life.
