After giving Zareth a couple of minutes to mourn the old vampire, Elena's voice finally drew zareth back to reality.

I hate to say this, but we really don't have much time, we need to get going, and we need to do it now.

zareth stood up reluctantly before saying, "we need to take him with us. After all his sacrifices for me, I have to give him a proper resting place."

Even though zareth had said this, he wasn't himself. He blamed himself for the loss of his master.

Master Leo had sacrificed himself in order for him to grow stronger. If only he was content with just being a mage rank vampire, none of this would have happened.

He wished he could turn time, just so he could see master Leo smile again and give him basic life advice . Fate had brought back Elena, but it also took his master away from him.

He felt a rush of different emotions all at once, pain, regret, emptiness, and then anger. Anger towards the guards, towards Alacad, alacad was the culprit response for putting master Leo in the dungeon.

He wanted to hold someone responsible for the pains he was experiencing currently, but at the same time, he also felt guilty.

He gently picked master Leo's lifeless body from the ground and then proceeded to hang him over his left shoulder.

looking at Elena, he instructed, "Stay behind me and try to keep up." After saying that, he stretched out his right hand and then murmured softly."Detonate. "

The next moment, a massive explosion rocked the entire dungeon, creating rubbles and large craters, also killing a couple of guards that were stationed at different locations.

Elena never wanted to cause any serious damage. Her plan was to simply get into the dungeon with her captain identity, rescue zareth, and then leave quietly before anyone would notice.

Never did she expect a large-scale attack from zareth, and if he was capable of blowing himself out of the dungeon, what was he still doing down there ever since?

that was the question bugging her mind because none of zareth's actions made any sense to her.while she was still in a daze, zeretg grabbed her hand, and pulled her forward as he made his way out of the dungeon.

He only let go of her hands when they were several kilometres away from King Alacad's Palace.

since it would be impossible for them to get a decent place to stay while zareth was technically carrying a dead vampire around, Elena decided it would be best for them to make their way to the near by forest.

It was after their arrival at the forest that zareth finally dropped the body of master Leo on the floor.

from his reaction so far, elena could tell whoever the old man was. He was close to zareth, so she decided it would be best she give him enough time to calm down.

It took several hours for zareth to calm and sort his emotions. He then proceeded to use his ability to blast the ground open, creating enough space for him to bury his master.

After which, he laid some flowers on the ground before bowing down several times as a way of paying his final respect to master Leo.

while he was still on the grave site, he made a promise to his late teacher that he would become strong enough to avenge the tyrant who had locked them both in the dungeon.

when he was done sorting his affairs, Elena finally walked up to him and gave him a tight hug." They both stayed in this position consoling each other with their action instead of words.

When they finally let go of each other, elena then asked about the others. hearing her bring up the issue of Emiera and Lydia, zareth sighed in exhaustion.

He then took time to narrate all that happened during the past year to Elena, how they all woke up in an apartment in the 3rd city with zero knowledge about how they got there.

And how they were attacked by the soldiers of the 3rd Kingdom. how Emiera and Lydia had to sacrifice themselves in order for him to escape and go look for Elena.

how all his attempts to reach out to her proved futile. how alacad had thrown him into the dungeon when he tried to enquire about her location from him.

Listening to Zareth narrates all that had happened during her absence made Elena's blood boil. somehow, she felt the new Lord raden was involved in all of this.

It was one thing for alacad to throw zareth in the dungeon. It was another for the soldiers of the 3rd city to attack them too out of nowhere.

It was common knowledge that each Lord was responsible for overseeing the territories, so for the soldiers of the 3rd Kingdom to attack them out of nowhere them the Lord must be aware.

If only she could connect the dot between Alacad and Lord raden them, she would understand why raden had also attacked her friends.

After thinking for a while, she asked... do you know the current situation of Emeira and Lydia? Do you know where they are currently holding them?

Zareth shook his head in response. Their best bet right now was that emeira and Lydia were being held in one of the many dungeons in the 3rd city.

Let's go get a place to stay tonight. Tomorrow, we will discuss our next plan. with that They began making their way back to town.

After which, they proceeded to lodge in the starlight inn.
