Chris was determined to escape from his predicament, the threat of their guns almost vanished from his consciousness as he steeled his nerves , yet he still needed to figure out a way to distract the robber infront of him somehow.
A grim expression becomes visible as he makes up a makeshift plan to buy him a glimmer of chance.
Chris picks up a nearby pen that dropped during the initial chaos caused by the robbers as he eyes his target not willing to be noticed or to draw unnecessary caution.
A single mistake would result in either his death or the deaths of the people around him, that would inevitably weigh him down should he make it out alive. He had no qualms with these people but he definitely didn't want them to suffer because of his mistakes
Chris tosses the pen over the robbers head in hopes of creating enough noise to momentarily garner his attention for him to shift locations.
SNAP!
The pen hits the Hardwood banisters at the reception desk a few meters away causing 2 of the 5 robbers to check it out as he silently crawls to freedom.
Chris contemplated whether to sprint to the door and make a break for it while they're distracted, or to lay low and wait for another chance. And Chris being chris he naturally knew his luck was atrociously bad so he stood up in a horizontal angle and bolted to the doors.
BANG!
Chris slammed the door in excitement on his way out as a way to flip off all the criminals that made his day more depressing than it already is and dashed to the nearest bus stop to finally escape this life behind.
Sadly, unbeknownst to chris there was an extra member in the bank robbers crew....
The get-away driver.....
That upon seeing chris bolt out of the bank with a bag filled with money no doubt, began his pursuit on the unsuspecting victim.
He caught up to chris, and proceeded to impart one of the worst beat-downs chris has ever had in his life. Punches to the throat, broken bones and a bleeding nose were the first thoughts one would have laying eyes on his disheveled figure.
"Thought you could steal from us, punk!". spat the bulky dark-skinned man that proceeded to take his shoes aswell. Not that he didn't care about the shoes, but it would be more accurate to say chris no longer cared about....well anything anymore....
'Ah, I see'
'it's pointless isn't'
'I have to move in with my mother don't i ?'
A shiver went through his spine imagining his mother's reaction after receiving the news of him losing the money after today's events.
Slowly by slowly, the blue colour from his crystal-like eyes became more hollow and opaque.
24hrs Later....
VOOSH!!
HONK!!
HONK!!
Cars and various other vehicles bellowed below from chris's workplace as he took a step toward the ledge and proceeded to raise himself on top of it and look down at the far but close street he would be plummeting towards.
Chris knew there was no going back, since there was no way he could make any money to pay his mother and there was certainly no way he was going back. Anything but that. As for running away, he could still do that, yet the idea of being illegaly trafficked to another unknown place was out of the question.
"So this is it, huh. Well atleast I'm finally taking a step forward right? Hahahahaa."laughed chris as he wipes the tears streaking across his cheeks.
WHOOSH!
While plummeting, chris feels something foreign stirring in his chest. It was a cool yet warm sensation he hadn't truly felt before.
It was freedom
Freedom his mother
Freedom from society
Freedom from the anxiety
But most of all...
Freedom from pain...
BANG!!
SPLUUURT!!
Chris's body crashed on top of a truck and died instantly from the impact, startling and a moment later screams erupted all around the corpse, partially because of the corpse itself but those closest to it were terrified of entirely different reason.
An Insidious grin was plastered all over Chris's dead face, as his once blue crystal eyes were turned blood red.
From this day onward, thanks to existence of the internet and recorded videos, chris was internationally coined as the...
The Smiling Corpse of Dread.
~Unknown period of time....
Chris drifted in the realm of nothingness like he had hoped, not that he even knew where he was or wasn't since he literally was nowhere. Whether it's been seconds or entire centuries after his descent towards death, chris couldn't care less....well if he could atleast.....
He wasn't happy , sad or anxious, but rather he just...was...like all things should be.
A cold sensation washes over chris as eyes burst open from his eternal slumber to witness something.....odd.
