Chapter 6: True Friend

(A/N: so just to say in advance, but this Yu Xiaogang won't be the evil hypocrite of all those Fan-fic.)

"Hello, Xiaogang. It's been a while."

As size up my long time friend, the latter did the same with me.

Yu Xiaogang.

In my old life, most fans of the books hate him. And most of the time for good reasons too.

But in this life, perhaps because of me and my subconscious, he fortunately didn't turn out like the one in the book.

Because even though at that time I didn't fully regain my memory, but I did have some 'flashbacks' from time to time. Which is why I was able to make some changes.

For example, even though he and Liu Erlong weren't married or officially together, this time they weren't separate either.

But at the same time because for some inexplicable reason, Yu Xiaogang still decided to live in Notting City, Erlong never created her Academy, but became a teacher in Notting Academy.

And that was just one of the biggest changes.

The smallest being that he didn't have his famous ever stern face. Instead when seeing me he put a natural smile on his face.

"Yes, it's been a while Flender. I saw that your claim back then wasn't just empty words. Just by seeing a little, I can that you truly developed a great School." He said while looking around.

To be honest, receiving such a compliment from my best friend was different than when someone else said it. To the point where I couldn't hide my pride as I start bragging.

"Hahaha! I know right? Practically everything here came from my numerous ideas. But you will be more surprise latter Xiaogang! Because what you saw was only the surface. But don't worry, you'll see everything latter and compliment me even more latter, hahahaha!"

"...Is this why you call me so urgently? Just so you could brag to me?" He asked with a bland tone. But it didn't deter my enthusiasm at all. On the contrary I could even feel some of my previous tiredness go away.

"Otherwise? What else would I call you for, if not so could see with own eyes how great I am?"

Without a word, Xiaogang start to walk towards the door which force me to stop.

"Okay Xiaogang, don't be so stiff. I was only joking with you. I truly had something urgent to look you for. Follow me."

And without any other explanation, I walked out myself. Not expecting that action, Yu Xiaogang follow me after a being stunned for a moment.

As we walk toward the library, I start to explain to him my 'recovery' of the Soul Guidance Tools and the help they brought toward the Academy. Which also barley explain the new knowledges Shrek had toward... Almost anything.

The private library while reserved for the teachers and I, was way bigger than the public one. And occupies a third of the whole building due to the number of books inside.

After entering and watching the shocked look of Xiaogang with a smug smile for a while, I finally bought him toward the Martial Soul section of the library, and after searching for a few seconds, I found the book I was looking and gave it to him.

" 'Theory of evolution on Martial Soul' by Flender, first Dean of Shrek Academy. You wrote a book? Is this what you wanted to show me?" He asked after examining the book for a while.

"No, that will come later. Read it first. Page 45." I said mysteriously, as Xiaogang rolled his eyes at me. But he still opened the book after a long sigh.

But very quickly his annoyed look change from an intriguing face, to a shocked one.

What I wanted him to read wasn't long, and I could see that he already finish but the shock of the news made him lost his mind for a while. Standing here without moving or say anything. But he needed the time to digest this.

After 30 minutes, he finally closed the book and looked at me with a bitter smile and said:

" 'There trash Martial Soul, only trash soul master'. Even though I created that quote, I never really believe in it. But today you really showed me how true those words are. Flender, I'm really a trash of a soul master. If I had done things correctly, Lu San Pao wouldn't have been born with half innate soul power. And if I had chosen his soul rings more carefully, he could have evolved to his true appearance. Unfortunately he met a trashy Soul Master like me."

"You're right. Your a trash Soul Master." I said seriously.

Some times being a best friend, means that you can't only have fun with him, but you also have to know how to tell him the truth. Even if it hurt.

During my simulations, I didn't just thought about my own situation. But I also tried to find ways for the whole Golden Triangle to ascend together. And one of the important point was Yu Xiaogang problem.

I knew that Tang San would found an earthly herb to widen his meridians so he could cultivate again. But at the end of the day that thing didn't resolve his problem. So, in all my 7 simulations I researched all the information I could about Mutate Martial Soul and find a real solution to his problem.

And...I did find the problem. The reason why all the 'bad' Mutate Martial Soul are like that, to put it bluntly is because their host are too weak.

For example, Yu Xiaogang. His real Martial Soul is supposed to be the Golden Dragon, instead it became the golden dog Lu San Pao. As for why, it's because Yu Xiaogang physic at his age couldn't withstand the full form of his own Martial Soul when awaken it.

The Golden Dragon is the Dragon possessing the Ultimate Strength. Each of those dragons are at the apex when it comes to physic and strength and are capable of fighting across their own realm with just this incredible physical ability. With just that we could see that the Golden Dragon was a Martial Soul just a little bit under God Martial Soul.

So while normally the physical bonus you receive after the awakening should be enough for a normal awakening, Yu Xiaogang's Martial Soul wasn't a normal a normal Martial Soul or even a top one, but something we could call a half-God.

But Because of that, the physical bonus wasn't enough to awaken the full form of his Martial Soul.

But I who knew Tang Wulin, Tang San's futur son, knew that Yu Xiaogang had almost no chance to awaken it full form anyway even if knew about it.

Because even for Tang Wulin who possess the Golden Dragon King (the dragon above Xiaogang's one), couldn't activate its full power. The Golden Dragon King had to seal his own strength while Tang Wulin had to constantly find ways to strengthen his physic to be able to withstand part of his power, otherwise he would explode.

And while Xiaogang's Martial Soul was somewhat sentient, his consciousness of a 5 years old child wasn't enough to be able to seal his own strength like the Golden Dragon King.

So in conclusion, if no miracle was use, Xiaogang could never in his life see the true form of his own Martial Soul. But fortunately for him, he had a miracle maker by his side.

"Yu Xiaogang, while indeed you are a trash, but, fortunately for you, you possess a friend who doesn't want to have a trash as best friend. So after painstaking effort, he found a way transform you from a trashy person to a less trashy one. So you can have a chance to one day become a descent Soul Master."

While talking, I took out from my space ring Soul Guide a bright golden tomato with some kind scales on it. And present it to the disheartened Xiaogang.

"What is it?" While asking the question half heartedly, I could see that from some his reaction, that his body respond upon the appearance of the tomato.

So with a smug, I replied to him with the true arrogance of a young master.

"This my friend who never saw the sight of a city, is called Golden Dragon Tomato. A heavenly fruit you can't find anywhere else than in Shrek Academy. That fruit originated from a tree that absorbed some of the blood essence of the Golden Dragon King. A true god among the dragons and more importantly for you, he's also evolution of your Golden Dragon.

So even if your Martial Soul doesn't evolve completely it would at least look more like a true dragon than the poor dog you have right now."
