The Change

In his last moments, Nathan could only wish for a loving family and to live luxuriously. But everyone's lives are different and Nathan's was miserable in his last moments. At the young age of 16, he perished at the hands of his foolish father.

Everything turned black like the lights switched off when Nathan died. It seemed like the darkness was infinite until a small light was seen. Nathan hurriedly ran towards it almost falling several times until he finally reached it.

He grabbed instinctively on the glowing white ball in the dark space and was suddenly teleported to another space.

"Child... how unfortunate for you to die at the hands of evil..." A warm yet cold manly voice spoke in the super white room.

"I myself have seen that fighting evil with good doesn't always work out" He continued and stared at Nathan reminiscing about his past.

"Boy.. do you want to eliminate all evil?" The strange old man asked.

A few seconds went by until Nathan realized he could talk.

"Old man... please help me, I will do anything!" Nathan said realizing this was his only choice to get revenge.

"You are fated to die a horrible death and be tortured for eternity if you fail...do you still accept?" He continued awaiting a response from the young teenager.

"I accept! Leave it to me" Nathan replied quickly not even thinking about what he said.

A few minutes went by until the old man looked at Nathan with his eyes visible.

Nathan immediately shivered feeling that the old man was looking at every molecule of Nathan's body.

"I see... that is your path. In that case, I will help you however you will not meet me again until you get enough power" He said and sat down cross-legged.

"Now come here and sit" He then continued and signaled to Nathan to sit down with him.

Nathan quickly sat himself down and looked at the old man.

"Now touch my hand," the old man said and reached out his hand for Nathan to touch.

Nathan almost seemed to be crying looking at the opportunity and thanked him before touching the Frail-looking hand.

Swoosh!

Suddenly Nathan woke up looking at an unfamiliar roof. His past life in the mansion was comfortable with a huge room, maids, and assistants everywhere.

Nathan knew right away that this wasn't his body since he was very light in the bed.

"What a small and boring-looking room," Nathan thought after looking at his surroundings. He then tried to stand up.

He tried and tried until he finally sat on his bed instead of lying there. Only then did he realize that his body was severely malnourished and skinny like he hadn't eaten a proper meal in a few years.

He finally decided to face his fear and take a look at his newly acquired body. And boy did it surprise him.

"W-what are all these cables? And why am I so skinny!" He questioned scared and confused by all the medical equipment close to his bed.

After recollecting himself and his memories did he realize that he had been bedridden for 6 years after gates and dungeons suddenly arrived on earth killing many.

"What happened after I died.. monsters are now real," He thought after seeing a memory of a goblin running towards him.

From what Nathan could see this body got severe head trauma and ended in a coma. Why he's not in a hospital he could not know.

He needed time to get used to his memories but he would not be able to as distant voices could be heard approaching his room.

"Fuck.. do I pretend to be sick?" Nathan thought but then dismissed the idea as he would eventually have to wake up to get revenge.

He got himself ready to encounter his new family and stared out of the window.

"Alright Mom, I'll check on big brother now!" A young girl's voice could be heard coming into his room.

Nathan awaited the girl and continued staring outside with confidence.

Eventually, the door opened and the girl entered expecting her brother to be sleeping as usual.

However, after looking at the bed she realized something was wrong. Her big brother was not sleeping? He was standing...

"Wh-what! B-b-big brother??" She asked out loud and dropped the plate of soup on the floor.

A loud shatter could be heard and the girl stared at Nathan in complete disbelief.

After a few seconds, she eventually realized she wasn't dreaming and ran to her brother while crying. She hugged him tightly and sniffled quietly in his embrace. Nathan started also crying although he didn't feel any kind of connection to the young girl.

After a short moment, the mother came into the room wondering what the shatter was all about.

"Natalie! Are you okay?" She said right before witnessing the scene of her lost son standing up and hugging her daughter.

"N-N-Na-t-th-an..." She murmured in disbelief and dropped to the ground as her knees couldn't support her anymore. She then started crying and wailing like she just lost her whole family.

"Mother, are you okay?" Nathan asked with a worried expression after seeing the woman fall.

Although he didn't have any connection to the family yet he could feel their affection for him which he would not take for granted this time.

"Y-y-es I'm okay.." she replied after a few seconds and stood up to hug her son after a long 6 years.

"M-my baby..." she said and hugged him so tightly it started hurting.

"M-mother it hurts.. " Nathan eventually said not being able to take it with his weak body.

And that was how he met his new family.
