Chapter 1Blue Star

Rays of warm sunlight shone down and warmed the earth as the sun rose. At the outskirts of Stanlos Base Camp, the recruit training camp, millions of recruits had already lined up neatly in rows awaiting their final assessment.

Instructor Leikas was taking attendance, person by person. The recruits answered when their serial number was called out.

"9527! 9527! 9527!" Instructor Leikas shouted three times, but he was met with silence.

"Sir! 9527 has not woken up yet," the commissioned soldier beside him said. Instructor Leikas's face soured immediately as he said, " That fool— to think that he still has the time to laze around in bed when he's one of the weakest ones here. Go wake him up now."

The soldier ran towards the dormitory upon receiving the command.

"9527, do you still wish to go through the assessment, or are you just going to let everyone wait for you?" the soldier barked at him while barging into the room. However, he realized that recruit 9527 wasn't on the bed. Instead, he was spacing out in front of the mirror.

"I am Steve Washington, am I really in the game Blue Star?" Steve looked at his handsome reflection in the mirror, trying to quell the shock and awe that he felt.

Just five minutes ago, he was an earthling, playing the hottest game on earth, called 'Blue Star'.

The game depicted a technologically advanced world like Earth. It described a future where Blue Star had always been searching for traces of alien life. Finally, in 2019, Blue Star obtained evidence of aliens, but this also brought forth a huge disaster.

According to the law of the jungle, any living organism that had exposed its existence would soon be eliminated.

The aliens went on a rampage and started invading Blue Star, unleashing mutated viruses that traveled through air and water and attempted to wipe out all of humankind.

They also used advanced technology to change the elements, gravity, air, and atmosphere of the earth to adapt it into a suitable living environment for them.

Humankind was almost completely wiped out, and the animals and plants all genetically mutated. However, the humans who managed to survive the virus started on a path of evolution. Some of the humans failed to evolve properly and turned into mutated demons instead. And so, the world outside was a dangerous place, with monsters and beasts roaming about, and mutated demons slyer than ever, as they still did evolve just as humans did. Furthermore, they only had a vile and vicious side.

In the game Blue Star, the players all started as humans resisting the alien invasion.

"Is this the game Blue Star, or is this the real world?" The last memory Steve had was of starting the game when, all of a sudden, lightning struck the game compartment. Then, he was sucked into an enormous black hole. He found himself here upon waking.

"Is this really me? Have I really passed through time?" Steve thought as he looked at his reflection. Eyes as blue as sapphires, with skin so white it only made his ebony hair stand out more. Cheekbones and jaws so sharp they could cut, with a toned body. He was not bodybuilder buff, instead, he was like a fine work of art by Michelangelo.

Pre-time travel Steve was one-quarter Asian, and one of the hottest guys in his school. He even took on a part-time modeling job.

However, it has to be said that post time travel Steve was more perfect and handsome than Earth Steve had ever been. He had not set his appearance this way in the game—he did not even touch the game helmet.

Evidently, this was a real world, he had just time traveled!

Luke's face filled with disdain as he saw how Steve looked at his own reflection with infatuation. He had never seen anyone so narcissistic. Nevertheless, he had to admit that Steve was the most handsome guy that he'd seen. But good looks were useless here on Blue Star.

"9527, any later and instructor Leikas will disqualify you," Soldier Luke said coldly.

As Steve came back to reality, memories from this new body started flashing before his eyes. This body's original owner's name was also Steve, but it was Steve Linken. Steve's family was poor and he also had a younger sister. His parents left to join the fight against the alien invasion when he was just a boy, but they never returned. 13-year-old Steve became the head of the household, and now that his sister had to go to university, they needed a large sum of money.

If he were to become a commissioned soldier, the city-state government would give him a huge allowance. This was due to the fact that to protect humankind, soldiers would need to fight against the monsters and beasts outside, and could lose their lives at any moment. It was also because of this that soldiers got to enjoy all sorts of welfare.

"I'll come out right now."

A surge of warmth flooded his heart as Steve thought of his cute younger sister. It looked as if he and his sibling had a good relationship with each other.

The arrival of Steve caused quite a commotion among the recruits.

"Haha, I thought that coward was too scared to come."

"Steve, you'd better give up on the final assessment, you'd only be walking towards your death with your skills."

"Hahaha, I heard that he went to sneak a peek at the blackfrost wolf yesterday and was so scared he passed out. I thought he wouldn't dare come out because he was scared stiff."

...

Steve's results were always one of the worst among the recruits, other than regarding his good looks, and he was a coward with no skills and zero talent. Even the instructors tried to get him to quit on several occasions. However, Steve refused to quit.

Today's final assessment was to be a fight to the death against a real magical beast, and everyone thought that Steve was too scared to come out. But nobody knew that the real Steve was literally scared to his death last night. The Steve they saw now was a time traveler from Earth.

"Enough! Quiet, the whole lot of you!" a strict female voice boomed. On a stage two meters in front of the soldiers, Wendy Marsha's cold gaze cut across the new recruits as she said, "if you're in the mood to laugh at 9527, I hope you're sure you'll pass the assessment." All the soldiers and recruits became silent, and none of them dared to be presumptuous while they all looked at chief instructor Wendy.

"9527, join the troops now!" Leikas looked at Steve and barked. Steve immediately joined the troops and looked up at instructor Wendy on the stage. The woman before him was a strong and independent woman, with skills that surpassed the other instructors. Chief instructor Wendy stood on the stage donning a skin-tight latex suit, showing off her supple breasts and making it seem as if they would burst out of her clothes. Her long and slim legs were strong and straight, and her red hair paired with her attire only made her look even hotter. But she was like a pepper, hot, but one should not underestimate her bite.

"2000 years have passed since humankind has been resisting the invasion of the aliens, and within the course of these 2000 years, Blue Star has undergone major changes. During that time monsters, beasts, and demons have walked freely, some of the aliens have already stationed on Blue Star and humankind are still at war with the aliens. Back in those days, the humans who were lucky enough to survive the doomsday crisis barely reached five million. As we progressed, humankind has finally regained our strength.

"As soldiers, you will walk among the frontline to protect humankind. I hope, in today's final assessment, that all of you will be able to pass and become qualified soldiers."

Reincarnated To Evolve My Bee Empire

"Now, go forth, my mortal champion! Conquer this world—or else!" I lived a painfully average life and died by a stupid, stupid accident, but a goddess interfered, giving me a second chance in another world. There, I became royalty—the lazy kind with almost no obligations, free to live in peace and luxury for the rest of my days. Sounds like a dream, right? In reality, it was anything but—because I became *BEE* royalty. A Drone Bee, doomed to die of old age in 2 months! (A humanoid bee, thankfully, but still a bee in all the ways that matter.) The only way to increase my lifespan is to develop and grow my bee colony—a deadly task in a vicious world like this one. There are murderous insect monsters, colossal beasts trampling the earth, other civilizations, natural disasters, and the bitchy patron goddess who absolutely hates me. But as long as I have my brains, my bees, and the powerful genes my system gives me, my Bee Empire will be unstoppable! === For those who want to know more: This is a wholesome comedic story, but it has some dark moments. The focus is on kingdom building, survival as an empire, and interacting with MC’s beautiful bee wife and adorable bee daughters. The bees are all humanoid (see pictures) and human-sized. However, they are still bees in their ways of life and mentality. Although there’s a system, real growth comes from putting effort and time. Nothing happens in an instant in this story, unless it’s trouble. MC acts like an idiot sometimes (oftentimes), but he’s not actually stupid-stupid. When it comes to strategic decisions, he uses logic and reason. Even if you might disagree with it. Also, there will be no smut (ecchi is a fair game), incest, NTR, harem or BL. === Discord is up! Find it at -> https://linktr.ee/Garessta Updates: 2 chapters/day, right after the reset (with a 5% chance of running late). Reply to author's pinned review if you have questions. Also, although I realize the futility of this aim (at least right now), if this novel reaches top 15 golden ticket ranking (and stays there for a few days, obv), I will mass release 10 extra chapters! (within 30 calendar days)

The writing quality (especially during the x-rated scenes) is superb. What really got me into the story was the way the author was able to describe how the MC did certain things and solve certain issues. Just hope he creates personal countermeatures for the system just in case things don't go as planned. Putting too much trust in an A.i-system always have backlashes in the end if one doesn't tread carefully. Considering he has his knowledge from Earth, he should be more cautious. I also wonder if he'll be able to return to his home Earth, and find out the real reasons or circumstances that ended in his favor. If he's living in an actual VR-game - will players start popping up in the later sequence of the story? And if they do, will he find an actual "player-version" of his trueself? And if a player-version of his trueself appears, will he be able to identify him and also merge with this playerself; thus, being able to control two bodies simultaneuosly in difference dimensions? Will he be able to bring items from the game into the real world using his game abilities? Will his game knowledge allow him to conquer the world and terraform other planets using fictional & unbelievable technology? Is he technically in a different timeline? Is his present circumstance an anomoly? This is what makes the story interesting. Because you can create your own speculations and it can ignite a flame into the story. It's very fast paced. And you can tell the author enjoys writing his story as well. YOU HAVE MY FULL SUPPORT.

The idea behind the book was good enough, had the potential to be great even but the execution was disappointing. At first I tried to bear with it but couldn't after a while. For one the plot holes were annoying and this is coming from someone who usually doesn't mind plot holes much. There was also a lot of unnecessary commentary which is common in other novels of the same genre so it would have been somewhat forgivable if not for the fact that the unnecessary commentary was also unnecessarily long. What should have been fleshed put wasn't and what didn't need to be was. As for the characters themselves, I won't say they were terrible but some of their actions or reactions to certain events really felt unnantural and/or forced. Like they were doing something, or only existed in the first place because there was supposed to be some such character or some such event. I'm neither an author nor a sophisticated reader but I do understand the trials in trying to write a book which is why I don't usually write reviews, I usually just rate it and leave it at that and even then only if I feel it was good because if it wasn't I'd just not rate it or review it. Writing is hard work, even if you're particularly talented you still have to put the time and effort in to make any decent sort of work. The only reason I'm writing this review now is that I feel that this had the potential to be so much better. I've read similar books which I loved and this reminded me a little of them, not in the plagiarism sense but in the vibe it gave. With a good editor and less overdone tropes it could have been a gem that's all.
