The New Life

Have you ever thought that maybe doing whatever you were told to do was wrong, maybe you should not have cared about what your parents wanted, what society told you, and do whatever the fuck you want?

Well that is the thought Max had been having, he had been passed on for the promotion again by the upper management, they had instead bought in some "influencer" whose viewers could be described as entitled 15-year-olds, as the brand manager for the company.

This was the position he had worked on for 4 years ever since he had joined the company, the number of unpaid overtime hours he had worked was so much that if the company had to pay it, it would have bankrupted the company, he had sacrificed his hobbies and any interest a long time ago, not to mention the fact that he was still a virgin since he never had time for girls, all sacrifices he made thinking that this would help him achieve his goal, his parents had praised him many times that this was exactly what he was supposed to do, his friends always respect for him and called him a hustler.

He had single-handedly made the company into a regional giant but all he had gotten in return was some shitty salary raise that didn't even match the inflation rate. Meanwhile, his stoner cousin who had leeched off his parents his whole life had become a millionaire from bitcoins, his boss who took credit for his work was now the CEO, and the former CEO who had made extremely idiotic business decisions had gotten the golden parachute of millions from the government bailout the company had received meanwhile the workers he had worked with for years had gotten laid off and despite this, the members in society had told him that he was lucky that he had kept his job.

He had been on the verge of blowing for weeks but the worst day for him arrived when his mother got sick and he asked for a loan from the company to pay for her expenses but despite making many appeals he got rejected.

It was midnight when he finally got the power to get up from his desk, the entire time he was walking to his home thinking how he would break the news to his parents, he was sitting on the bus stand until suddenly a BMW SUV came at a very high speed and hit him, as he lay on the ground slowly feeling life drain away from his body, he could hear the car driving away.

As he slowly closed his eyes, thinking about just how useless his life had been.

Max slowly opened his eye, he saw a very old looking room he was on a bed that seemed to be from the 18tth century,

"Max are you alright" suddenly he heard a female voice he did not recognize said.

Just as he was going to respond to the voice a sudden jolt of pain ran through his head and he again fainted, the female yelling in the background.

Max could feel some strange memories flooding in his brains, it felt like it was both him and not him at the same time. After hours of head-splitting pain, Max was finally able to sort out what was happening.

This was the world Arcania and the setting was more like the western RPGs he used to play in high school and he lived in the small kingdom called Ecrin.

In this world, every person was born with an affinity one out of five magic, and those who did not have an affinity to any of the five basic magic was put in the category of the sixth magic called void magic, this was a special category there was no specific thing people with void magic could do, some could use space magic, some could fly or some were just normal human beings. That is why people generally regarded void magic as something of a gamble.

Some centuries ago frustrated by the amount of control the nobility had on their lives magicians of similar affinity came together and formed organizations called guilds. As time passed the position of the guilds grew and magicians of different affinities started mixing in other guilds, now guilds had magicians from all affinities in their ranks, some of these guilds had even grown so much that they were just below the monarchy in terms of the power dynamics in the country.

Max belonged to the Ember guild, the guild has a history dating back to more than 200 years but in the last 20 years its power had started faining, and it was now only a small-sized guild with less than 5 magicians, the guild was now being targeted by all the other small and mid-sized guild who wanted to absorb the guild. The only thing that had been able to hold them off was the current guild master Kira, she was the daughter of the former guild master and took over the guild when she was 24 six years ago.

Max had been the son of the head bodyguards of the previous guild master and both his parents had died with the guild master in the attack ten years ago. Max had been 8 then, he could barely comprehend the loss of his parents and had gone into a shock, later his affinity was also of void magic and everyone in the guild raised him for some time but after no signs of any magic emerging from him, they suspected that he might just be a normal boy.

The guild had declared him useless, but then Kira had become his protector even at that age she had been a high-level fire magician since she decided to protect him the rest of the guild let him be. She took care of him and thought him all that he could but unfortunately Max had just been an average boy and could be of any help to the guild

As time passed Kira had been one of the only high-level magicians, she tried to manage the guild but unfortunately, it was too much for one person, and she was targeted by other guilds.

As the tale of this body flowed into Max's brain, he got used to the function of this body, he comprehended the story, he felt bad for the guy but at the same time remembered how sad his own life had been, he had spent his entire life and did whatever was expected, but now he was in this world in a new body, he decided to forget his old connections they didn't mean much to him anyway, in this life he decided that he would do whatever he wanted, he would only live for himself.

As he slowly opened his eyes he saw an extremely beautiful woman sitting by his bed on a chair nodding off.

The woman had brown glistening skin, her face was very beautiful and her proportions were right in all the areas, this was Kira Max guessed, this was the woman that had acted as a gaud=rdian to this body, but to him, she was just a very sexy woman, he had technically been a virgin in his previous life, this woman would make fine girlfriend thought Max.

As he was thinking the woman spoke up and saw Max awake.
