Getting Ready To Learn Magic

My mom and dad came up to me and told me to follow them. We started walking in the direction of the library. I asked them many times where we were going but they just smiled and said you'll see. It has been a few days since I started living in this house and it seems so massive but from the outside it looks like a commoners house. I asked my parents about it and they explained that the house was enchanted with space magic to make it larger than it seems. I asked them how it was done but they wouldn't tell me saying it wouldn't make sense to me.

Once we reached the library door my mom pulled out a key and unlocked it. I wonder why they keep the library locked up but they must have a good reason for it. Going inside I saw it was a massive 4 story library with so many books that it would take several lifetimes to read. My parents ignored it all and walked off to the side of the room. I wondered why because there didn't seem to be anything there except what seemed like a reception counter and an empty wall. My mom headed to the desk while my dad went to the wall. At the same time I felt a small mana fluctuation from both of my parents and then I saw the wall sink away into the floor as a stair way appeared leading down. It must be some kind of mana based locking mechanism that needs both of them to activate it at the same time. My parents started going down the stairs as I quickly caught up to them with the wall sealing up behind me. Getting a strong sense of deja vu I followed them.

Walking for just around a couple minutes we reached the bottom and walked into a very wide room. It was completely white with a tablet on a display stand in the middle of the room. My mom walked over to it as my dad turned to me and began talking.

Here is a special training room we made to help you learn magic he said with a smile. This place was made with mine and your moms magic powers and with are vast knowledge of magic. So before you go off to school we will help you learn the basics. I can sense that you are about half way through the yellow core realm. From the white to the yellow core we use ranks to break it up since it is easy to remember but once you reach the green core it doesn't work as well anymore since the way you move through those stages is a little different. Once you fill up your sea of mana to the max and are ready to break through to the green core stage you will need to infuse all of the liquid mana into the walls of your mana realm increasing its size greatly. Once every drop has been consumed you will be in the green core stage. The green core stage consists of filling up your mana sea again to full before moving on to the blue stage. That is why we switch from the ranks to 4 stages. They are Low, Medium, High, and Peak stages. 

After listening to him talk for awhile my mom came over with the tablet and told him that everything was ready. I noticed that in place of the pedestal there was now an orb in the middle of the room. 

Alright son we are ready to begin testing and teaching you magic. He led me over to the orb as he said this. Place your hand on the orb and pour your mana into it. This will tell us your magic affinities and also your mana attraction rate. 

Pouring my mana into the orb I saw it fill up mostly with a blue light and noticed 8 lights of varying brightness. Looking over at my parents with a confused look I asked what it means. My mom while holding the tablet began to show me what it means.

So the light that filled up the orb is your mana attraction rate. You have a 90% effectiveness at attracting mana which mean that out of 10 wisps in the environment you can pull in 9 easily. It also helps with gathering elemental mana. This is a very good mana attraction rating and it can be boosted to 100% with the right artifacts and medicine. The 8 lights are your different affinities. While everyone can use every element with enough training having an affinity with an element makes it much easier. You have a High affinity with Darkness, Light and Time. You have a normal affinity with Fire, Water, and Wood. And you have a low affinity with Wind and Earth. All in all that is a pretty good. Your 3 high affinities are 3 of the 4 higher elements. The only one you lack is space. You have all of the base elements in your normal and low affinities which is really good. Usually people don't have much affinity with the higher elements. 

My dad came over and gave me a hug. I am shocked by your talents son. I don't think there are more than 5 people on this world who could match you. And the higher worlds can only match you because they have herbs and artifacts that can grant and boost their affinities. As he said this my mom joined in on the hug as I was squished between them. After about 5 minutes of being hugged to death my mom asked. So dear are you ready to learn magic? 

Yes! I said with a massive grin on my face.
