Life is a race part 2

After entering inside the shop my eyes immediately turned towards the various jars and Test tubes filled with all sorts of colorful potions and various medicinal plants and ingredients.Looking at them I was mesmerized for a second but soon I started looking for Alice inside the shop. I found her talking to the shopkeeper .

"Uncle Edward I have come to take medicines for my mother's treatment."

"Alice you have to pay the full price this time if you want to buy something from me."

"I have already supplied you medicines many times for free but this time I can't ."

"I also have a family to take care of Alice and with Winter approaching and increased taxes I can't keep giving you all those potions for free.

"Uncle Edward I have brought money this time."Saying that Alice placed the gold coin she received from Agnes in Edward's hand.

Looking at the shining gold coin in his hand Edward frowned a little and asked Alice with concern in his voice"Where did you get this gold coin little Alice."

Hearing Edward's question Alice was surprised a little bit but immediately turned towards me and pointing in my direction she said "Uncle Edward this little guy's maid gave me the gold.He said he wanted to hire me."

Listening to Alice's narration Edward turned towards me asked cautiously"Who might you be young noble."

"I am Arthur, Arthur Stormwind.Nice to meet you Edward."

Stunned for a second Edward quickly Bowed down and speaks "It's a great honour to meet you young lord,please forgive me for any diggrestion that I might have shown."

"You don't need to worry about it Edward,I am just here with Alice to buy some ingredients."

"Thank you for visiting our store young lord."

After spending sometime talking to him. I asked him a question "So Edward do you perhaps know any place where I could find some high grade detoxification potion materials and ingredients to make them.

Thinking for a while Edward replied "Young lord there is always an auction conducted jointly by the dark guilds of the wintercrest city before heavy winter. Blizzards and ultra cold temperature is pretty much common at this time of year but this not the worst thing about it but the worst part is the increased activities of the savage tribes during this time due to scarcity of vegetation and animals for them to survive which makes transportation a very costly endeavour. "

"So the dark guilds came up with a solution to avoid great transportation costs that is to empty their inventory before snowfalls and make as much money as they can."

"So are you saying Edward,This auction can have those high grade detoxification materials and ingredients ."

"Yes young lord,not only that but most of the brilliant Alchemists know about this matter as well hence they will definitely attend it in search of rare herbs and materials."

"young lord can meet them at the auction and employ their services to refine the potion young lord requires."

"Then Edward,When and Where this auction will be held ."

"Young lord the auction will be held two months from now on at the City centre in the Opera House ."

"What are the requirements and dress code for this auction Edward."

"Young lord every participant must be attending the auction wearing a mask and must have an invitation letter."

"So where can I get this invitation letter Edward."

"This I am not clear young lord but you will be able to find about it easily with your power."

"Thanks for your information Edward."

After my talk with Edward was over he went and packed the medicines needed for Alice's mother treatment.After shopping was done before following Alice to her home I asked Jeffrey to send away the other guards.They first insisted on following us but after some reassurance and small bribe from Jeffrey they relented.We soon arrived at Alice's home it was in one of the safer areas of the slum.She dashed towards her home and shouted"Mama I am back."

From Inside came a sound"..cough...cough ..I am coming"and with sound a woman opened the door.

As the door opened and my eyes fell upon the woman opening the door my eyes seem to be dazzled for a second and refused to close.She must be the most beautiful woman I have ever seen ofcourse she was behind my mother in terms of beauty but boy she was truly stunning.

After some time I reeled myself back and looked towards her.

Helena's PoV

As I was resting in my home thinking about my daughter I couldn't help but cry.Instead of helping her I was a burden to her.

It all started three years back when I was still one of the directors of the Ninetails fox chamber of commerce and my husband was one of the largest shareholder.He was investigating a large money laundering case that the chamber of commerce was suspected to be involved in.He was a very close friend of one of the elders of the the tribe.

The Elder warned my husband that if the chamber of commerce continue to involve itself in these illegal activities then there would soon be consequences and even he might not escape unharmed.Shocked by the information he recieved from his friend he started his own investigation.

After investigating for weeks he was not able to find any clues about the money laundering case so he called the chairman to our home for a dinner.During dinner my husband talked to the chairman about the money laundering case and he was reassured by the the chairman that he will look into the matter.

My husband felt relieved that finally the situation can be solved.The Next Night during our sleep we were attacked by a group of assassins.

We fought back but they were just too many of them.One of them was an Assassin Lord just step away from becoming an Assassin King.Before even I could even react he used his thunder element to dash towards my husband with a frightening speed and plunged his dagger into his heart,twisting it he said "One down,Two remaining."

My husband's lifeless body fell on the floor I wasn't able to reach to hold it as it was falling down since I was still attacked continuously by the rest of the assassin from all directions.

Seeing my struggle he started to laugh"Ha ha ha ha..... why struggle so much just let me stab you in the heart and you will die painlessly".

Finishing his lines he immediately dashed towards me with the same insane speed and plunged the poisoned dagger in my stomach twisting it with a smile he said"Bye,bye.... second down third remaining."

Hearing him say that about Alice my mind seemed to burn with anger and my heart chilled to the freezing point.

I started to scream crazily

"Ahhh .....ohhhh you bastard I will kill you and fucking bite of your head."

Fire started to spew out of my mouth and nostrils.

As the fire started to come out of my body but instead of burning others it started to freeze the surroundings and the others soon all the assassins were frozen.In that frenzy I attacked the Assassin lord and bit him on the shoulders and grabbed his head from behind burying my fingers in his mouth and his eyes.

I immediately started to burn him with my flames and soon his whole body froze and I snapped and broke his frozen neck with my jaws.

"Hah haah hahh...."

After getting my breadth together I immediately realised that mongrel chairman must be behind or involved in the case.

"Fuck.... Fuck.... that bastard he wants to silence us.."

Soon I realised that I needed to leave this place immediately. Even though I have broken through king grade but due to the poison and the injury I can't use most of my powers leaving me and my daughter powerless incase of a new attack.Understanding the situation I immediately packed the valuables that could be carried and ran away with my daughter. We left the orc federation and came to the lunaria empire and settled in the city of wintercrest.

Most of our money that came from selling the jewellery and precious items were already spent by the second year but my condition was far from improving.Day after day it worsened due to lack of money to buy medicines.I was only able to survive till now due Alice's hard work.

I am now just truly a burden on my daughter.It seems my last days are approaching. The medicines that Alice buys are slowly started to loose effect...ah I am dying...just worried about my little Alice and her future.As these thoughts were swirling in my head I heard Alice's voice from outside.

I immediately went towards the entrance to open the door because the scene I just saw left me stunned.Today Alice was not alone following behind her backs were four women dresses in classic maid uniform but each and everyone of them felt unique and a man who seemed to be their Guard but what caught my eyes most was the child in their centre.

I haven't seen such a cute child ever. His dark blue hair and those red ruby like eyes were truly a unique combination.His acting like a mature man and his attempt to hide his embarrassment made him even more cute.

Seeing Everyone standing I invited them into the house."Everyone please come inside eventhough it is small please make yourselves comfortable."

Arthur's PoV

After being invited by Alice's mother inside their home we went in.

She offered us some water and started talking."My name is Helena,By what name should I call you young noble."

"You can call me Arthur Miss Helena no need for tedious formalities."

After some talks between Agnes and her she realised that we helped Alice and started to thank us.

"Thanks for your help young master I will be eternally grateful for your help."

As she was thanking us I used my appraisal skill on her and what came out suprised me even more than her Beauty.
