Never Got The Chance To

'Ugh, I feel like shit,' Yuuya thought as he opened his eyes lids with difficulty to see a familiar ceiling but his mind was a bit hazy not paying attention to it.

The last thing he remembered was calling for his spear and he fell unconscious after throwing it.

'I have become really weak, to pass out after just a normal throw.' After thinking about his stupidity and weakness he sat up on the bed….

'Wait..' Yuuya looked down and just realized he was back in his room sleeping on his bed and his clothes were changed. He saw outside the window to see that the day has already passed and night has fallen.

'Who brought me here? Oh, a stupid question.' Yuuya looked to his left to see Grayfia sleeping soundly on a chair as she rested her head on the bed near him with Hati sleeping near his pillow.

Yuuya just looked at Grayfia in silence not making any sound.

"Got your bearings?" A Sensuous voice sounded from his right causing him to look towards it.

He saw a voluptuous woman with a beautiful face that can charm anyone, her long purple hair reached her ankles, and she was wearing a black turtleneck and dark blue jeans looking at him with her golden eyes that shined in the dimly lit room.

"Why do you look like that Apophis?" Yuuya asked not at all fazed by the woman's presence as he somewhat expected her to be here Grayfia couldn't bring him here alone after he saw the attitude of the rabbit.

"Really, that is your first question? What were you captivated by my charms." The Woman giggled.

Yuuya just stared at her waiting for her answer.

"Oh, you were serious, Ahem* well I thought this would suit me as we both share the same abilities, although mine is way more powerful." The woman coughed as she answered the question with a smile.

"The last comment was not needed but ok, and your abilities are way different yours is paralyzing and hers is petrification," Yuuya said in his usual tone.

"Come on don't mind the small stuff, I made a copy of that one so that you can use it as mine was a bit too potent for you at the start did you forget. But that isn't the point here," Apophis said as she waved her hand and looked at Yuuya.

"What? Are you angry at me again?" Yuuya said as he looked at her. He certainly did something stupid before, to lose his reason over an illusion that can even be considered third-rate.

"I'm not angry; I am just worried at this point. I haven't seen you act this recklessly in a long time. I am not sure what to feel for you to get so angry over a lousy illusion that only had an image with no basis. You nearly threw your life away with that spear and to use the Eyes Of Petrification was also a reckless thing. What if you used up all of your lifespan, if I hadn't stopped it in time you would've died for sure." Apophis said as she looked at Yuuya who didn't say anything as he knew that what he had done was pretty stupid.

"How can you stop the contract one-sidedly?" Yuuya asked as he didn't pay any attention to this before but now he was fully focusing on the situation.

"Again not the thing that is important right now," Apophis said as she sighed.

"Woof!?, WOOF!!!" before Yuuya could say anything Hati woke up and jumped on him licking his face.

"Ok, I get that you were worried but calm down a bit will you," Yuuya grabbed her and placed her on his lap lightly petting Hati causing her to whimper with a cute expression.

After he saw that Hati was calm he wiped his face with the sleeve of his red t-shirt.

"Umm," Then there was a sudden noise coming from the left causing both Yuuya and Apophis to look over to see Grayfia wake up and rub her eyes.

"Master!!, you woke you. Are you alright? Do you feel uncomfortable?" Grayfia was suddenly fully awake as she climbed up the bed and started touching Yuuya's face and his body asking him questions about his health.

"I am fine, just feel a little weak so calm down," Yuuya said patting Grayfia's shoulder to calm her down a little.

"I was really worried as master has been unconscious for two days." Grayfia sighed in relief as she looked down.

"I was out for two days?" Yuuya looked at Apophis and asked in his usual tone.

"That is correct you should know that you tried to summon the cursed spear and yours has long evolved past what it used to be and that is after you used the eyes of petrification, I would say you got off pretty lightly by just being unconscious for two days, worst case you would've died. So you better be thankful to both of us as we were taking care of you the entire time." She explained calmly.

Grayfia looked down as she heard that even though Apophis has told her about the possibility of Yuuya or ash as she called him dying she felt really uneasy at the thought of it coming true.

"…" Yuuya didn't say anything just silently looked at Apophis who was looking at him normally and Grayfia who had her head down.

"Master, I know that I shouldn't say this, and I might be overstepping my boundaries. But…" Grayfia said raising her head.

"…..It must've been hard for Master to lose your Lover, but please take better care of yourself don't risk your life like this ever again. I am sure Scathach-san would want the same." Grayfia said as she lowered her head again after she said that.

'Even if I get punished after this, I have to make sure master won't make a reckless decision again. I'll make sure it doesn't happen again.' Grayfia closed her eyes making her determination stronger.

Yuuya was a bit stunned by this as Grayfia isn't someone who would speak like this.

'So she was this worri- wait lover?' Yuuya's thoughts suddenly came to a halt as he looked at Grayfia.

"Who is my lover?" Yuuya asked as he looked confused as he learned he had a lover.

'I must've heard it wrong, I guess my mind is playing tricks on me because I just woke up.' Yuuya thought as he waited for her answer.

"Master, isn't Scathach-san your lover?" Grayfia said again looking between Apophis and Yuuya.

"Apophis, what did you tell her?" Yuuya understood the cause of this problem and asked Apophis who was looking away whistling. But the eyes of both Grayfia and Yuuya made it hard for her to ignore it.

"I guess the cat's out of the bag, she looked so cute when she asked about Scathach being your beloved that I couldn't help teasing her," Apophis said with a giggle.

"You..." Yuuya sighed as he is used to her behavior.

"Why did you lie to me Apophis-san?" Grayfia asked with a bit of hope on her face, although she felt somewhat annoyed being teased but there was something else that overwhelmed that feeling.

"Well, even if I joked about it, the truth isn't that far off the mark," Apophis said with a smile causing Yuuya to look at her.

"So Master, were you…." Grayfia spoke as her face went back to the straight face.

'What's with the mood swings?' Yuuya shook his head.

"No, it wasn't like that. I never told her how I felt." Yuuya said in his usual tone knowing there was no way out of it as Apophis will pester him if he doesn't say it.

"….Why?" Grayfia looked up in surprise as she didn't expect this to be his answer.

"I…" Yuuya was about to say something but then he saw his reflection in the mirror. There was nothing new the same stoic face that he has seen for decades with those empty blue eyes that had lost their radiance with time, no apart from his face looking a little pale everything was the same.

'Yes, it is the same…..' Yuuya closed his eyes and then opened them again.

"….I never got the chance to," Yuuya said.

"…" Grayfia was somewhat stumped at this.

'Is it about that?' she had heard the story from Apophis and knew what had happened and drew her own assumption at this.

Apophis looked at Yuuya who ignored her gaze and just looked at Grayfia who was thinking about something.

GROWL*

"I am hungry," Yuuya said even though his stomach announced it clearly.

"Oh, I am sorry master it is only natural that you will feel hungry as you haven't eaten anything over two days. Please wait a minute I'll get you a meal." Grayfia stood up and ran towards the door.

"Just take your time no need to rush," Yuuya said as he looked at her.

"Certainly Master," She said and bowed before she exited the room.

After Grayfia left the room was a bit silent as neither of the two spoke.

Apophis just stared at Yuuya with her arms crossed under her bust.

"If you have something to say, just do it," Yuuya said moving his gaze on her.
