Diary of a Teenage Alpha

Big-hearted and witty, Samantha Kingsley is the Alpha's daughter who grew up learning to meet everyone's expectations. But Samantha isn't a pup anymore, she's in high school now, and is just about to discover that her life is written by her choices. Not by dreams, or prophecies, or even the moon goddess. This girl is going to protect the happiness of her pack and everyone she loves. Read her diary here. Updated every night. Mon-Sat Volume Synopsis VOL 1 It's the first week of school. Despite my failed attempt to make a friend, I somehow ended up surrounded by a handful of wolf classmates, got accepted by the human "cool" girls, and became a vampire's guard dog? VOL 2 I think I'm just starting to get the hang of school. From navigating school halls, new friends, vampires, and school clubs... Back home it should have been the usual drill, but things started shifting. And I urm...might have been messing around where I shouldn't. VOL 3 I had to miss a couple of school days this week due to my ah, long term bout of "anemia". It's been pretty intense at home. My alpha position was challenged, rogues burnt down our home, I rescued my first fight dog, discovered the Lorent's secret oracle, almost rescued my mate...and accidentally stumbled into my Alpha Dad's secret. VOL 4 My worlds collide as some members from my pack come to my school to sell concert tickets. And when Grandpa Alpha shocked us all by dying, my dad's family comes together to pay their last respects at the Night Forest Pack. VOL 5 It's February and the Vampire Queen is celebrating her birthday. Would Rebel's plan to escape work out? Meanwhile, I'm stuck in school dealing with high school drama, an evolving wolf, and a new human sister. In the Red Packlands, war nearly breaks out. (This might have been a very little bit my fault.) VOL 6 It's the week of Valentine's Day, but I've got a highschool play, Lorent drama, Vampire slaying training, and an underground army to deal with first. And then warlock weather threw an extended snowstorm at us. The whole of Green Packlands goes into lockdown - but what about Valentine's Day? VOL 7 Exams are a week away, and it feels like my time at Winderhill is really coming to a close. I'm trying to be a good student, but there are paparazzi camped outside my school, I ran with rogues (I'm shocked too), Maria just had to enter her dark cycle in school...My life is too exciting to study for exams. VOL 8 It's exam week, but I've got far greater problems brewing at home. The prophecies are merging. River's stone had unlocked warlock trouble, the rogue king has moved in, and then there's Uncle Louis' economical problems... one at a time. Just let me survive Code Black and figure out what's going on at Heller's first, and I'm sure everything else will work out somehow. VOL 9 Its the last week of school and the exams are over. Its like for better or worse, all the big bad things are over now. At home, My pack works to clean up the aftermath of the rogue war, the warlock's defeat, and Jude's betrayal. In school, everyone treats me more or less the same... like a freak. Meanwhile, our school play is in dire straights, and as the Last Hurrah's debut draws near, I get ready to say good bye to Winderhill for good. VOL 10 We follow Dad to the past to stop the traitor (AKA Jude), from ever stepping into our Packlands. It would've been a good plan too - if it didn't change EVERYTHING. Now, I can't help but feel my life is ruined. Nobody understands me. Is it selfish of me to wish none of this ever happened? Why does my world have to be so magical?

THURSDAY TRAINING SESSION

I'm home. My homework was done. I'm showering off all the human smells I've picked up at school and on the train ride home.

I just want to crawl into bed. But mum was making roast beef for dinner and I still had to report to Flynn and Hank before Thursday session.

I nearly fell asleep standing in the warm calming shower. Just a little while more before I can cuddle in with my pillows and blankets. I groaned a little at the thought of bed. I NEED SLEEP! But I still have this one more meeting.

Roast beef helped me find the strength to press on. Thursday training session was for teens below 18 who had shifted so I'm expecting to meet Jessica there. Jessica was a year older than I was and the girl closest to my age.

Something weird happened to our pack before we were born, nobody knew exactly what, but there was a year when our pack had NO NEW PUPS.

No one knew how it happened. Our neighboring packs were unaffected, it was just us. But after that year of barrenness, Jessica was born! Just Jessica. One single baby after the barren year. Everyone said she was the blessing of the moon goddess. And the herald of new pups to come.

I was the next baby, born the very next spring, the Alpha's firstborn (even though I did turn out to be a girl) but Dad and Mum were so overjoyed, how could the pack not feel happy for them?

This was followed by the birth of Dean, who was a boy. And at first they said he was the Goddess's provision of my future mate and next alpha. When Dean didn't quite live up to that expectation, there were also those who said that the two babies born that year was the pack's "alpha and omega".

Yeah, Dean had it tough.

And then it was as if the moon goddess decided to recompense us of the babies we didn't have before Jessica. My sister Savy was born, the alpha's second daughter (unfortunately also not a son, but what the heck, she was beautiful).

The Beta had twins, Ben and Lizzy.

The Gamma properly produced his first born son Jonah.

Dean's brother Drew was born....

Who else? Tim, the first born of a warrior. And other pups whose parents were normal wolves.

But it was more than ten babies in a year, which was pretty much doubled the annual average at our pack.

After that, it was as if the curse of barrenness had never happen and our pack had pups every year as normal.

What happened that year before Jessica was born? No one knew. Some said it was the water. Some said it was just coincidence. Some said a warlock spell.

And how did we overcome? Some said the Goddess heard our prayers and answered. I think my name eluded to that. Some said the warlock died.

And because it came and went without rhyme or reason, it was the very small glitch in our current history that nobody talked about.

Still, Jessica's birth left such an impression in our minds, her birthday parties were huge every year. Additionally, if a lady was trying for a baby, she would give Jessica a hug for the goddess blessings to rub off.

And one of the kids (might have been me) suggested that Jessica's luck could be applied for other things too. So we used to try to touch her head and ruffle her hair before the exams for good luck. (She hated it.)

We stopped last year because she said she had grown up and didn't have time to play these childish games anymore.

And yes, this is the long prelude to introduce you to yet another good friend of mine.

"Sam!" She called out the moment I entered the training hall. I lit up just a little. I hadn't seen her since forever... More accurately, since last Sunday. But the last 4 days of school did feel like forever.

"What are you doing here?" She asked once she crossed over to me, "OMG! You shifted?"

I suddenly noticed the room was already full of older teen wolves. I'm so glad I hadn't just sashayed in with my pajamas!

I had wanted to!

Honestly, I thought I was just going to meet Flynn and Hank for a bit and pop back home. But my knuckles were still healing, and I didn't want Flynn to see the splintered skin and go berserk on me again, so I had to dress in gym wear just so that my gym gloves would look like a natural accessory.

I didn't recognize half the wolves, but after meeting the three goons yesterday, I knew the newbies were from the Morning Light Pack too. I will call them the bigger goons.

From our own pack there was just Jessica, and the other older teens, Link, Kevy, Jack, and Marissa. The older teens were all born before the barren year and in their senior year of highschool. The same year as Evelyn. If I remembered right, Evelyn was the last baby born before the barren year happened.

Unlike my Wednesday session, everyone was early and already stretching and getting ready. Even the bigger goons were doing things properly. It was a good vibe.

Back to Jessica who was looking at me check the place out, "Nah, I'm just supposed to report to Flynn and Hank before the session."

Jessica looked at me, frowning lightly, "Is this something to do with..." She lowered her volume to a whisper, "last night?"

Did news travel by mindlink? How did Jessica hear about the vampire already?

"The whole school was talking about it. Dean was wearing your jacket to school, so we all knew." Wait, what? Oh yeah, Dean had my jacket. But what had my jacket got to do with the vampire? Now it was my turn to frown.

Flynn and Hank came in, their entry immediately gaining everyone's attention. I guess that's the difference with older teen wolves. They take training more seriously. Maybe it's because next year, they might meet their mate, or because they would be old enough to qualify for the ranking competition, or maybe they've just grown up.

Whatever the reason, everyone was ready and standing in a smart semicircle around the trainers, waiting for the next instruction. Even the bigger goons.
