Diary of a Teenage Alpha

Big-hearted and witty, Samantha Kingsley is the Alpha's daughter who grew up learning to meet everyone's expectations. But Samantha isn't a pup anymore, she's in high school now, and is just about to discover that her life is written by her choices. Not by dreams, or prophecies, or even the moon goddess. This girl is going to protect the happiness of her pack and everyone she loves. Read her diary here. Updated every night. Mon-Sat Volume Synopsis VOL 1 It's the first week of school. Despite my failed attempt to make a friend, I somehow ended up surrounded by a handful of wolf classmates, got accepted by the human "cool" girls, and became a vampire's guard dog? VOL 2 I think I'm just starting to get the hang of school. From navigating school halls, new friends, vampires, and school clubs... Back home it should have been the usual drill, but things started shifting. And I urm...might have been messing around where I shouldn't. VOL 3 I had to miss a couple of school days this week due to my ah, long term bout of "anemia". It's been pretty intense at home. My alpha position was challenged, rogues burnt down our home, I rescued my first fight dog, discovered the Lorent's secret oracle, almost rescued my mate...and accidentally stumbled into my Alpha Dad's secret. VOL 4 My worlds collide as some members from my pack come to my school to sell concert tickets. And when Grandpa Alpha shocked us all by dying, my dad's family comes together to pay their last respects at the Night Forest Pack. VOL 5 It's February and the Vampire Queen is celebrating her birthday. Would Rebel's plan to escape work out? Meanwhile, I'm stuck in school dealing with high school drama, an evolving wolf, and a new human sister. In the Red Packlands, war nearly breaks out. (This might have been a very little bit my fault.) VOL 6 It's the week of Valentine's Day, but I've got a highschool play, Lorent drama, Vampire slaying training, and an underground army to deal with first. And then warlock weather threw an extended snowstorm at us. The whole of Green Packlands goes into lockdown - but what about Valentine's Day? VOL 7 Exams are a week away, and it feels like my time at Winderhill is really coming to a close. I'm trying to be a good student, but there are paparazzi camped outside my school, I ran with rogues (I'm shocked too), Maria just had to enter her dark cycle in school...My life is too exciting to study for exams. VOL 8 It's exam week, but I've got far greater problems brewing at home. The prophecies are merging. River's stone had unlocked warlock trouble, the rogue king has moved in, and then there's Uncle Louis' economical problems... one at a time. Just let me survive Code Black and figure out what's going on at Heller's first, and I'm sure everything else will work out somehow. VOL 9 Its the last week of school and the exams are over. Its like for better or worse, all the big bad things are over now. At home, My pack works to clean up the aftermath of the rogue war, the warlock's defeat, and Jude's betrayal. In school, everyone treats me more or less the same... like a freak. Meanwhile, our school play is in dire straights, and as the Last Hurrah's debut draws near, I get ready to say good bye to Winderhill for good. VOL 10 We follow Dad to the past to stop the traitor (AKA Jude), from ever stepping into our Packlands. It would've been a good plan too - if it didn't change EVERYTHING. Now, I can't help but feel my life is ruined. Nobody understands me. Is it selfish of me to wish none of this ever happened? Why does my world have to be so magical?

SAM'S FIRST LOVE

14 FEBRUARY, SUNDAY, 10.30 PM

The moment I saw him, my heart leapt out to him. It must have been the mating bond.

This time, Bell wasn't in a black cloak and creepy wolf mask. Nor was he riding a bike.

He was standing in front of his white convertible, his usually wild curls swept back, and the crisp white of his shirt collar contrasted against his dark suit. To put it simply, he was in Lorent prince mode.

I could suddenly see why they called him the White Wolf Prince. Appearances were so deceiving. Hahaha.

"Good evening, Luna." Harvey greeted politely as usual, "Alpha is here."

"Hello, princess." Mate smiled. Omo. His smile. It was like the stars all came out at once.

Somebody slap me. This date thing... It was unimaginably embarrassing. Why was I going gaga like that? Was it because it was my first time?

Mate opened the car door for me.

"Good night, princess. Good night Luna." Harvey said as he bowed us off.

"Night Harvey! Thanks for tonight!" I quickly called when I remembered he was there.

Harvey bowed again, but if he replied, I didn't catch it. Mate had shut the door and stood right in front of the window, so all I could see was the back of his coat.

I think the two guys exchanged words outside, and then Mate walked around the car and let himself into the driver's seat.

He was scentless, as usual, but his clothes still held traces of his scent. Mmmmm... Salted caramel. I grinned at him.

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

Did he even have to ask? If I grinned any bigger, I'd have to show my fangs. My heart was beating like a bird trying to escape it's cage, and I was inexplicably and incredibly happy. HAPPY!

Was this a first date kind of thing?

"You're being creepy, princess." Mate informed me, as he pulled out of the school driveway.

"I'm just happy." I managed to inform him without noticing the stupidest grin I've ever worn was now my face. The kind of grin that stayed too long, and just looked goofy.

In hindsight, I was just being a total noob at being swept off my feet by a prince in a white Mercedes Benz. But how was I to know? Everything just flew out the window from the moment he appeared.

Even the volumes of manga I've read, despite the sound advice, pretty much ceased to exist. Nevermind the manga. The whole world pretty much disappeared. It was just Mate and me.

Could this be love?

Because if it were, love was STOOOOPID.

The following account didn't happen because if it did, it would be officially the most embarrassing episode of my life. If my parents ever found out, I'm sure it would be added to the annals of Little Sam Stories.

Which was exactly the problem because I WASN'T LITTLE ANYMORE. I was the Alpha! And I was old enough to date and fall in love and everything!

Back to the story, I was just sitting there grinning (which was pretty much all I did all night.) I mean, I was grinning, not smiling. It wouldn't even pass off as a wide smile. If I had to describe it, I would describe my expression like a racoon with distemper... It's a kind of virus that makes racoons bare their teeth and act like zombies... Nevermind.

Oh, or like Rocket in the Guardians of the Galaxy. You know it's bad when he shows his teeth. Wait, why another raccoon? Either Ben was right about my roots, or my bada** beta had successfully brainwashed me.

Yeah, but I had to admit, this story was something like that. The night the white wolf prince dated a raccoon... with distemper.

I'm having trouble writing this story down straight, because I would remember each second and alternated between the need to squeal like a fan girl, and cringing at my shockingly cheesy feelings. But while I was there, with Mate, in the car... just watching him drive, it was like wow.

If you had looked into my eyes then, you would only see Mate and a million stars shining in them.

Okay, I did warn you that this love thing was STOOPID. I'm not going to apologize for any cheesy mush. Don't complain, it's going to get worse. If you don't have the stomach for mushy cheese, you could just stop reading my diary... My embarrassingly lovesick diary. It wouldn't hurt to skip this page.

Anyway, where was I? Oh right... Mate all sparkly as he drove his car out into the night to goddess knows where. It was all a blur of sparkles and salted caramel.

{Cute}

"What?" I blurted out at the light of my life.

Mate cleared his throat, "I was just thinking... If you're hungry."

"I'm not hungry." Cue my stomach's rebuke.

My face turned red.

"What do you want to eat?" Mate asked, his eyes still on the road ahead.

You? Hahahaha

"What?" Mate turned to look at me, but quickly looked back at the traffic. The roads in Gate City were pretty crowded tonight. Don't people sleep at night?

"Urm..." I scrambled to think of somewhere that would be opened so late, "Macdonald's?"

Mate chuckled and shook his head, "I meant, what would you like from Moshiro's, princess."

Mo-what now? I was quite sure he didn't say MOS Burger.

"I don't know." I answered honestly. What did this fake MOS Burger joint serve?

"We're here." Mate turned into a parking lot, "You must be some kind of lucky charm, I've never gotten a lot so close to the restaurant before."

Hahahaha... He called me his lucky charm! Yah, I was pretty lucky. I floated deliriously on cloud nine for a while before the car door on my side was opened and Mate reached out a hand to help me up.

Unfortunately, I didn't know how to get out of the low seat while daintily resting my hand on his, so I just hopped out on my own, and then took his hand.

Mate simply smiled and shut the car door. He smiled! Again! That was like smile #2.

Sigh... His smile was like magic, and the moment we stepped into the entranceway of the restaurant, the music played, "Why do birds suddenly appear, every time you draw near? Just like me, they long to be, close to you..."

Which was exactly the truth about Mate - even though I had never seen a real bird come close to him ever, I was quite, quite sure the song was all about him.

The manager met us at the little podium, "Welcome to Moshiro, Young Alpha Lorent. My name is Francis, and I am the Maître d', it is my honour to serve you."

Looking around the restaurant, the mirror gilded walls, fancy wallpaper, and large black and white paintings of wild horses... I felt a little bit like I was in a foreign country suddenly.

We followed Francis to a nice looking table. There were large palm trees and stained glass chandeliers, and another black and white painting of wild horses. This one had Lycan text calligraphy on one side, the kind I hated because, as if ancient Lycan wasn't hard enough to read, the artist had to write in cursive.

Another man appeared next to Francis. You knew you were in a fancy place when the wait staff dressed better than their customers - and might I point out, everyone in the restaurant was dressed up.

"This is Blake." Francis informed us, "He will be your waiter for tonight."

Blake bowed politely, "It is my honor to serve you tonight, Young Alpha James. These are our drinks menu. Our house wine tonight are... Blah blah blah..."

I swear he stopped speaking in English.

I looked at the menu Blake had thoughtfully opened in front of me.

In the country of Moshiro, all men wore suits AND TIES, where the managers are called Maître d's, and the menus were printed with English alphabets, but I couldn't pronounce one in every three words.

There were no pictures. Nor were there any prices. Either everything was free, or...

In the country of Moshiro, people were expected to order food without knowing how much it was going to cost.

I bet they were expecting us to tip after that too! Omo.

And then I noticed how Mate fitted right in, against the backdrop of glittery ladies and suited gentlemen, plush red carpets and gold trimmed everything. It was like finding a unicorn in its natural environment.

I was like the raccoon who had an ice cream cone stuck to his forehead to blend in.

"May I take your aperitif, Alpha?" Blake asked. Take our what now?

"I'll have the ouzo." Mate decided.

"Very good, and you madam?" Blake asked.

Who me? Madam was like my mum!

"Would you like a juice?" Mate offered.

I nodded.

"We have fresh cold pressed tangerines, fuji apple, cantaloupe, and cactus juice." Blake informed me.

I blinked.

Mate raised a brow at me, "How about the tangerine juice, princess?"

I nodded.

"Excellent choice. I'll will bring them over shortly." Blake left us with the menus to fetch our drinks.

"What would you like to eat, Princess?" Mate asked.

By now, I was quite, quite, sure that the country of Moshiro did not serve burger and fries.

"I don't know. What's good here?" I asked lightly. I should better prepare an answer for when Blake showed up again. Suddenly I felt a little like I was sitting for an oral exam.

"Their steak is good. I think their lobster bisque is quite popular too." Mate told me, thankfully in English, "Do you eat escargots?"

Escar- what? My brain managed to dig up its meaning from somewhere, "You mean like snails?"

Mate chuckled, "I'll take that as a no."

I felt my stoopid wolf start to melt down. I want hamburger and fries and a milkshake. And ice-cream!

{Ahem, which stoopid was melting down?}

'Maybe oysters then?" Mate asked.

I nodded.

And then I had an idea, "I'll just have whatever you're having. Or whatever you think is good."

"Really?" Mate asked. He sounded skeptical.

"Yeah," I was desperate enough to play the helpless damsel card, "There's so much to choose from, I'll never be able to decide."

Especially since I couldn't pronounce a third of the words on the menu and nothing there said 'burger'.

"Alright." Mate shrugged like he was used to ordering for helpless damsels, "Would you prefer cod or pasta?"

I thought he said the steak was good? Why? Was it unladylike to eat steak in Moshiro World?

I nodded.

And then realized Mate was waiting for my answer, "Cod."

Because it was the first word that came to me.

Blake came back with our drinks because it turned out that aperitifs were just a word to say drinks in Moshiro land. Ouzo was a drink that smelled like something alcohol strong enough for me to smell it from across the table. Tangerine juice tasted like the mini orange slices Ki puts in my lunch boxes sometimes.

Mate ordered and Blake recommended the lobster bisque followed by "entrée". before the mains, as well as a dessert - which wasn't in English BUT I KNEW WHAT IT WAS.

"For dessert, might I recommend our Valentine's Day Special Mon Blanc?" Blake said.

"Yes." I nodded.

Mate smirked, "Alright, just for the princess then. I'll have an expresso martini."

"Perfect." Blake approved. Waiters at fancy restaurants strive to praise your every choice. As long as you picked anything from the menu, your answer would be absolutely right.

At least it would be absolutely right TO THEM. You only found out if you ordered the right thing AFTER they served it.

A million apologies, my dear readers. I realized the dates were wrong. It's still the 14th Feb for Sam. Here's hoping you didn't notice.

Also I've missed out uploading a chapter. Not sure if you noticed a sudden skip between going to the Yarrow's and getting there. But I've since uploaded the new chapter (Chapter 445).

And I should probably do a better job proofreading - but I have been rushing like mad to get each chapter out on time each day. Sorry, I'll go back and edit whenever I can. Meanwhile, please read with your own internal auto-correct on, and graciously pretend not to notice the glaring typos and insulting grammatical and spelling offences.
