Diary of a Teenage Alpha

Big-hearted and witty, Samantha Kingsley is the Alpha's daughter who grew up learning to meet everyone's expectations. But Samantha isn't a pup anymore, she's in high school now, and is just about to discover that her life is written by her choices. Not by dreams, or prophecies, or even the moon goddess. This girl is going to protect the happiness of her pack and everyone she loves. Read her diary here. Updated every night. Mon-Sat Volume Synopsis VOL 1 It's the first week of school. Despite my failed attempt to make a friend, I somehow ended up surrounded by a handful of wolf classmates, got accepted by the human "cool" girls, and became a vampire's guard dog? VOL 2 I think I'm just starting to get the hang of school. From navigating school halls, new friends, vampires, and school clubs... Back home it should have been the usual drill, but things started shifting. And I urm...might have been messing around where I shouldn't. VOL 3 I had to miss a couple of school days this week due to my ah, long term bout of "anemia". It's been pretty intense at home. My alpha position was challenged, rogues burnt down our home, I rescued my first fight dog, discovered the Lorent's secret oracle, almost rescued my mate...and accidentally stumbled into my Alpha Dad's secret. VOL 4 My worlds collide as some members from my pack come to my school to sell concert tickets. And when Grandpa Alpha shocked us all by dying, my dad's family comes together to pay their last respects at the Night Forest Pack. VOL 5 It's February and the Vampire Queen is celebrating her birthday. Would Rebel's plan to escape work out? Meanwhile, I'm stuck in school dealing with high school drama, an evolving wolf, and a new human sister. In the Red Packlands, war nearly breaks out. (This might have been a very little bit my fault.) VOL 6 It's the week of Valentine's Day, but I've got a highschool play, Lorent drama, Vampire slaying training, and an underground army to deal with first. And then warlock weather threw an extended snowstorm at us. The whole of Green Packlands goes into lockdown - but what about Valentine's Day? VOL 7 Exams are a week away, and it feels like my time at Winderhill is really coming to a close. I'm trying to be a good student, but there are paparazzi camped outside my school, I ran with rogues (I'm shocked too), Maria just had to enter her dark cycle in school...My life is too exciting to study for exams. VOL 8 It's exam week, but I've got far greater problems brewing at home. The prophecies are merging. River's stone had unlocked warlock trouble, the rogue king has moved in, and then there's Uncle Louis' economical problems... one at a time. Just let me survive Code Black and figure out what's going on at Heller's first, and I'm sure everything else will work out somehow. VOL 9 Its the last week of school and the exams are over. Its like for better or worse, all the big bad things are over now. At home, My pack works to clean up the aftermath of the rogue war, the warlock's defeat, and Jude's betrayal. In school, everyone treats me more or less the same... like a freak. Meanwhile, our school play is in dire straights, and as the Last Hurrah's debut draws near, I get ready to say good bye to Winderhill for good. VOL 10 We follow Dad to the past to stop the traitor (AKA Jude), from ever stepping into our Packlands. It would've been a good plan too - if it didn't change EVERYTHING. Now, I can't help but feel my life is ruined. Nobody understands me. Is it selfish of me to wish none of this ever happened? Why does my world have to be so magical?

MADAM PRINCIPAL'S WISDOM

2 FEBRUARY, TUESDAY, PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE

The moment Principal Laura left, Henry made his move to follow, but not without having to throw an order behind his shoulder to me, "Come on, Sam."

"Don't order me." I snapped.

Henry shrugged and left.

I glared at Matt who raised both his hands in submission and gave me his usual practiced smile. In other words, "Sorry, I'm just doing my job. Please cooperate."

Grrrr... Fine.

I followed Henry out of the classroom. Matt looked relieved and left after me. What? Did he think I would lose control to my wolf and go bananas in a classroom of humans?

I've never lost control of my wolf. NEVER.

And I wasn't starting over some petty disrespect from a human teacher.

We walked silently past the other classrooms. Madam Principal led us straight to her office. Then she sat us down and sent Matt to fetch some drinks and snacks from the teacher's lounge.

I sat on a side armchair. Henry took the sofa adjacent to me. Principal Laura sat herself opposite Henry, "Thank you for coming. It's not everyday that I have the honor of young alphas in my office."

This confused me, shouldn't we be getting into trouble? Henry seemed pretty calm so I would just assume that everything was going as it should, but I've never been called to the Principal's office before.

I wondered what would happen.

Matt came in with a tray of snacks, a can of coke, and a can of lemon tea. Henry picked up the can of coke, cracked it open single handedly. He smirked at me for a moment, and then put the opened can in front of me.

Then he said to Matt, "Another coke, please."

Matt actually bowed, "Oh, sorry."

And rushed out to fetch it for Henry.

Suddenly we were back in Lycan society.

I just folded my arms looked away. I refused to drink coke when I'm mad.

"I'm sorry if your teacher had riled your wolf, but may I know what happened?" Principal Laura asked.

"We were late for class." Henry explained, "The other kids teased us and we were given detention for class disruption. I don't think Sam had time for it. The teacher slammed his hand on her desk twice and then she flared up."

Matt returned with the can of coke.

"Thanks, Matt." Henry said casually.

"You're welcome, Alpha Henry." Matt answered and took a step back.

And then to Principal Laura he said, "Is there anything else you might require, Luna Laura?"

Our Principal smiled, "No, thank you. Please return to class, Matthew. Don't worry, I can sense our young Alphas have a good control on their wolves. I'm quite safe. I'm sorry to have called you out."

"Anytime, Luna." Matt nodded a polite bow and excused himself.

Principal Luna, I mean Laura turned her attention back to us, "Samantha, please accept my apologies. This teacher, he has been ill for a long time. His sickness is quite terminal and he has not been responding well to the treatment. They have taken him off most of his medication except for the painkillers at the moment. This would be his last month at Winderhill. I'm afraid his doctors don't think he will live past the year."

Henry scoffed, "Why don't you let him go now? It's not like he doing much teaching anyway."

Principal Laura sighed, "Yes, but he had bills and a family. Just another month of work and salary would help them."

Henry smirked, "So you sacrifice the students quality of education for this human?"

"You know...my son's mate is also human, and I love her like my own daughter. Ever since, it feels like humans are not so different from us." Principal Laura said.

I narrowed my eyes at that. How could that be? And then my wolf took over... No, not the cute version that thinks everything is a game. The dark version that I hadn't decided if I liked or not.

"There are wolves who behave much like humans, without loyalty, or pack, or respect for hierarchy or knowledge, or honor, or bravery, who have deviated from their destiny and selfishly hurt others for their own petty gains. We call these wolves rogues, while we call these humans, human." I shrugged it off carelessly, "Isn't that strange?"

Henry and Principal Laura took a pause at my wolf.

Principal Laura laughed, "Perhaps you might think I am getting soft towards them, but Alpha Sam, there are also many humans who are loyal and true and faithful. Many humans who loved their packs more than themselves, who lived and died honorably."

"As there are among us rogues." I agreed with a smile.

"Do you dislike the humans?" Principal Laura asked.

I shook my head, "I do not take offence to their existence. They are interesting. I like them. I count a number of them friends."

Principal Laura looked confused.

Henry just chuckled, "Sam, you're contradicting yourself."

"I mean they are different from us, but different isn't always bad. The world is big enough for all of us to share." I explained.

"But this teacher, please tell him it is better not to joke about Henry and I committing 'hanky panky'. It's not funny. I am betrothed to the Lorent heir, even if I overlook the comment, my mate would not. Henry was providing me with urgent and important information. The friendship we had forged here in your school is not something to allow careless words to corrode."

"True." Henry seemed to consider this, "James Lorent the Third is not the forgiving type."

"I understand, Alphas. Please accept my apologies." Principal Laura stood up and bowed, "I will speak to this teacher on your behalf. It will not happen again."

I nodded curtly and adverted my eyes to the door. My dad was here.

I knew by radar as usual, even before he neared the door. Also Beta Lucas, Killion, and Henry's Beta Peter too.

Henry smirked at me, "If I had known you'd be able to explain yourself, I would have stayed in class. But I guess going home early will give me time to get some real work done."

"What did you think I'd do? Cry like a girl?" I growled back.

Henry just laughed, "I doubt you know how."

Two knocks and the door was swung open. Beta Lucas announced, "Alpha Kingsley is here."

We all stood up and bowed.

I folded my arms again, my dad... Principal Laura called my dad! So this tea time chat was only to contain us young alphas until our Alpha parents arrived to sort us out. Grrrr.... When Dad said Madam Principal had a way with dealing with young alphas, he was right.

"Good afternoon Alpha Kingsley, thank you for coming all the way." Principal Laura greeted with her customary smile.

Dad nodded, but his expression remained serious, "Madam Principal."

Then Dad looked at me and then at Henry, who nodded respectfully and stepped back. Dad returned his attention to me.

"Sam, what happened?" Dad asked.

My darker wolf answered, "The teacher gave us detention because he thought I was cutting class to make out with Henry."

There was a pause. My Alpha dad growled and considered Henry, Beta Lucas and Killion also turned their attention on the young alpha. Hahaha. Henry's change in expression amused my dark wolf very much.

I took back control because I decided my dark wolf version was mean and I didn't like it. I didn't like myself like this. I didn't want to be this person.

"But we weren't. Henry was giving me tips on how to take over the Ciara Coven." I said.

Now the expression of everyone else in the room looked like Henry's. Why did I get the feeling I was making everything worse?

"Sam... What did you do now?" Dad asked.

"The vamp lord started it. He has been hunting around for me." I said.

"So Henry's father had warned us. Do you happen to know why there is a vampire lord hunting you?" Dad asked.

"Because he saw me and thinks it'll be fun to add me to his collection of lycan slaves?" I hazarded a guess. Suddenly, I remembered the dream of Greta's memory... being bound and helpless and the big men with big hands...grrrr....

Dad started to growl quite savagely at that, but I understood that it was at the vampire lord. Still, he was terrifying enough for Principal Laura to take a careful step back. Hahaha, what are you going to do about that Madam Principal? Call my dad's parents?

"Cute blue alpha princess wolf will make a very exotic pet for a vampire lord." Henry agreed with a smirk. He held out his hand towards Beta Peter, "Pete, did you bring it?"

Beta Peter nodded a bow and placed something into Henry's opened palm.

Henry handed it to me. It was a small rectangular wooden block with a picture of the knight chess piece burnt into it so that it was a brown horse emblem.

"I hate knights. They are so sneaky and always attack from my blind spot!" I said to the piece of wood as I examined it.

"Well, this knight is on your side, Sam." Henry assured me.

Great. I'm the black wolf king. My luna was the white wolf queen. And my knight was brown. I also have three bishops in each color. I'm not sure what kind of game I'm playing at all.

I noticed it was two pieces and pulled it open, the top half of it popped off, exposing the metal bit embedded in the wood. A thumbdrive.

"The information you need is inside." Henry told me.

I gave the thumbdrive to Ki, "Take a look at this. We'd discuss it when I get home."

"Don't worry." I grinned at the general group, "He'll be dead by tomorrow."

"You have to wait till next week, Sam." Henry said, "Its the Vampire Queen's birthday. He won't be in his Coven. All the Vampire Lords would be at the Royal Coven, wherever that is."

"I know." I said happily, "We're going to the Royal Coven."

"Sam! Be serious!" Henry scolded, "No one even knows where that is!"

I grinned, "I don't need to know to go."

"But... Look, no. Just wait till he gets back to his coven. If something goes wrong, I can help you." Henry said.

"Wait... You were planning to help me?" I asked.

"If something goes wrong, and anything could go wrong, if you were at the Ciara Coven, I'd be just next door, close enough to storm the place with my warriors." Henry reasoned.

"It is always better to have a Plan B." Beta Lucas pointed out.

"I do have a Plan B." I said.

"Yeah, what?" Henry asked.

"It's a secret." I decided.

Henry groaned, "Sam..."

"I'll go." Dad decided then, "You're my daughter. I will protect you. We wait for the Ciara Lord to come home and I will take care of him."

"Dad... You don't even know the plan!" I complained, "But yes, that would be Plan B. If I can't get him tonight. Dad will get him on his way back to his coven. And if that fails, Henry will storm the coven."

I nodded, quite pleased with myself, "That's a Plan A, B, and C!"

"I won't fail." Dad growled, "So Plan C is redundant."

"I'll just have to take your word for it." I told him with a smile, "Cos I'm not going to fail either."

Henry shook his head and smirked, "The family resemblance is striking."

He made a quick bow to excuse himself, "I'm going home. If you need a Plan C, you've got my number."

"We don't need a Plan C!" Dad and I yelled in unison at Henry's departing back. Beta Peter dropped a quick bow and followed his young alpha out.

I laughed then. It was funny.

Dad frowned at me and I stopped.

He managed to sooth his features when he turned to Madam Principal and said, "I hope Sam was not disrupting your day."

Principal Laura shook her head quickly, "No, of course not. It was a pleasure meeting her wolf."

"Her wolf surfaced?" Dad's frown returned immediately.

"A largely fearsome and deeply intelligent wolf. Indeed as young alpha Henry observed, the family resemblance is striking." Principal Laura praised.

Dad raised a brow at that. I doubt Dad had met my dark side. In his eyes, I was the oversized puppy.

I smiled and made my most innocent face at him, which only made him more suspicious.

"If you say so, Madam Principal." He intoned gravely, "Then, if there is nothing else, I will take my daughter home now."

"I have archery practice!" I reminded my dad.

Dad paused, and then he said, "Sam, your wolf is evolving. It's unstable and dangerous for you to be alone with so many humans about."

My wolfie is what and what now? Omo

"So it's too dangerous for me to stay in school, but it's okay for me to go hunt vampires?" I challenged.

"We have signed treaties not to harm human life." Dad said, "Vampires are okay."

"You were worried about the humans? What about your precious daughter?" I flared up.

Dad laughed then, "Sam... My precious daughter..."

He put a large hand on top of my head, "Have a bit more confidence in your dad, and those who have sworn to protect you."

Principal Laura smiled and bowed again as Dad shook her hands and thanked her for taking care of his daughter.

I didn't want to miss archery club, but now that I talked about it to Dad and Henry, I realized that I might need time to prepare for the vampire hunt tonight.
