Ch3: The Lifetime Settlement

Makoto and Yukio was stunned by Katashi's action. "I get it ,sir" Makoto told as Katashi parked the car at the hospital.

A day later , it was evening;

Luigi is in bedrest with a dressing on his leg and wires connected all over his body. Katashi and his allies entered the room.

"Now Luigi , why were you creating such a mess back there?" Questioned Katashi.

"Do you expect me to tell you!?" Said Luigi

"I know your weakness , Luigi. I don't expect you to tell, you MUST tell"

"I won't "

"Yukio .." commanded Katashi

Yukio placed Mei in Luigi's bed. This made Luigi stutter "no don't,... Place that thing away from me , don't keep it near me".

Mei slowly started to climb on him.

"Wyaaaa nooo.. aaargghg get awaayy. Yuck take it thing away, boy" screamed Luigi.

Yukio was trying hard holding back his extreme laughter. His face turned red, his eyes widened up and his mouth was forced sticking together. Yukio's body showed his silent giggling.

"I said get it oofffffff.... Aaahhhh nooooo. Heyy boy, once I get free I'll crush you to pieces, get this damn animal away from me" shouted Luigi with a small tear flowing down from his eye.

"And you know what, Luigi?.. if you don't tell me , I have to leave you in an orphanage" threatened Katashi.

"Orphanage?" Asked Luigi

"Yes a .. CAT orphanage " said Katashi.

Luigi face went pale. His whole body froze thinking of that scene of Luigi sitting with a bunch of cats.

"I'll tell I'll tell" said Luigi

Mei climbed onto Luigi's face

"Whaattnooootakethisthingawayyyyyynooooooooo"

Yukio bursted out in laughter. His voice reached the whole hospital. He took back Mei while laughing.

Luigi became relaxed.

"Now tell" said Katashi

"It wasn't my plan to be honest , it was his"

"Who's" asked Katashi

"That guy who wore the black hoodie.. I don't know his name. I refer to him as 'the slender man'. He told me to make the riot there.....

He is such a psychopath, I heard him saying someone knew his true identity. And the person who knew him came to meet you."

"Meet me?" Asked Katashi in a doubtful voice.

"Yes , you. He probably came there to kill that person. I don't know whether he killed or not. He told me to call him as "partner". But if he killed that person himself but I don't know why he called me" said Luigi.

"One , to divert me from approaching him. Two, to divert the case... He called you ,so that we both would fight and thus making him able to shoot the person down. He told you to call him 'partner' so that I would think that he is one among your team members.

He made a plan and he was successful with executing it.

He is the Devil And that person he killed is Nina Shikiha , wife of Dr.Izaki whom he killed 2 days ago." Said Katashi.

"But you said the Devil is dead and it's someone who is imitating him, right?" Asked Yukio

"Yes I did , but turns out , I was wrong... And devil did not die that night" Replied Katashi

"Which night??" Asked Yukio

"Need not to know" said Katashi

"And why did he shoot me?" Questioned Luigi.

"Because you were of no use after his execution" said Katashi , "how do he know you?"

"I don't know, he was a friend our boss.. I first met him a year ago if I'm right. He came to our boss asking something, I don't know what they were talking about , but I heard a word like 'cat'-"

"PPrrrrppp... Mmmmhmhhh mhhheheheheheeeeheeehaaaaahahaahhaa , a cat, hahaha?" , Yukio laughed again interrupting the investigation.

Katashi , Makoto and Luigi stared at Yukio but he wasn't able to control his laugh.. he covered his mouth with both his hands to control his laugh but still tears rolled down his eyes in laughter.

"And today I got a letter written 'the devil sits on the throne'. " said Luigi.

"Throne ??? Alright. tomorrow , we'll take you to our custody, and if you tell all the truth. You'll be rewarded by letting you go free" said Katashi leaving.

Luigi murmured to himself, "tomorrow? Custody? (Smirks) you need to find me first, detective"

Katashi Makoto and Yukio got back on the car

"Yukio?" Dragged Katashi

"Yessir!" He Replied

"Why are you in the car?"

"Because I came here in the car" said Yukio

"Don't you have a home ?" Asked Katashi, "Yes, I do" said he.

Katashi ordered ,"Then get off the car and go to your house"

"Man , why won't you drop me there" said Yukio, " my house is just too far from here, you know".

Katashi reluctantly dropped Yukio at his house by 8pm.

"What time should I report tomorrow sir?" Said Yukio

Katashi accelerated the car from there saying "you need not come again, for god's sake"

They both went to their respective house.

By 10pm, When Katashi entered his house, he saw an envelope on the floor staright in front of him. He took it and started reading it. It said "the door will be knocked at 7". This letter puzzled Katashi and after thinking of it for a long time , he finally went to sleep.

The clock struck 12 in the hospital, it was a thunderstorm outside.

Luigi was ripping off all the bandages and drip wires connected to his body.

He laid his foot down the cold floor, took few steps initially and started walking well in the hallway . He got out of the hospital in the dead of night , he had summoned his gang members who were waiting in a van outside the building.

It was too dark that only the silhouettes of the people were visible.

"Heyy!!!" A sudden scream by a member as Luigi felt some liquid splash on his forearm, it wasn't the raindrops.

IT WAS BLOOD, the demons knows the smell of blood.

"Kill him" someone of his gang member shouted.

A lightning struck , the light lit up the background of the scene, Luigi saw not a team of attackers but a single man against his whole gang.

"Detective ? no , not him" murmured Luigi.

The sounds of guns loading , the roar of the thunder , the drumming of the raindrops and the screeches of his gang members.. everything screeched through Luigi's ear at the same time.

As the lightning lit up the place periodically. He could see a figure destroying all his gang members. With a knife? No , with bare hands he made them shed blood.

Luigi felt something rolling towards his foot in the size of a football, not clearly seen in the darkness. He bent down and touched it , but he didn't touch a football . He knew what was it. Again a lightning struck revealing the decapitated head of one of his men that he was touching. At that moment he saw the attacker was using a blade which his gang members brought .

Everyone was down now. With blood bathed hands and blade , the attacker marched towards Luigi. Once again the nature lit up the place , a slim face showing teeth wide open .

The smile was familiar to Luigi

"Slender man" said Luigi

"Partner, he met and interrogated you" told the killer stabbing Luigi in his abdomen.

Luigi said "Yes " followed by splashing water on the killer's face and fleeing away. He ran as fast as he could, till he lost sight of the killer

Luigi reached his hideout sometime at 3am - or -to be specific The Witching Hour.

He had ran all the way with bleeding from his abdomen . When he entered his underground hideout. He dialled up to his other members , sat and rested on his chair without speaking to them

After few minutes , his other gang members who worked under him assembled in the place. Luigi was in his chair with his hands rolling through a file which was kept on the table before him. The file contained photos of people who are associated with the "Men of Prey" underworld, whether they are friend or foe.

He took two photos from it

One was Katashi and another one was the devil's clear image.

He showed it to his crew saying

"I want these living corpses within the next 24 hours, Alive... Whoever brings them to me will be the owner of our next hiest's loot"

And pointing to Devil he said "especially this guy".

The sun rised and Katashi woke up by 6:15am . He considered he woke up late as he got to bed late the night before. And by 6 and a half his phone rang . It was Makoto, he was standing outside the house. Katashi let him in and they both were discussing about the letter he got that night. Suddenly at 6:53 Katashi's door bell rang and knocked multiple times. Katashi, on remembering his letter took his revolver slowly and took his steps towards the door. Makoto was also having his pistol ready. Katashi's left hand hovered over the doorknob while right hand was keeping the gun in aim.

He slowly began to open the doorknob making the doorknob move a little . Suddenly the knocking stopped. He unlocked the door and he opened the door , pointing his revolver straight towards the human figure standing before him
