Chapter 12

Walking out the bathroom he could see Susanne sleeping on the TV couch. Looking outside the peephole there was nobody near he's door so he decided to also catch a sleep and heeded towards hit bedroom. When he got inside the bedroom he stopped for a moment and went back to Susanne picking her up and bringing her to bed. Placing her inside and covering her with a blanket she was still sleeping like a logg.

He dropped down on the couch and went to sleep.

When he woke up the sun went down and the sky outside darkened. Checking his watch it was already 23. Susanne already woke up and was currently in the process of making food for them.

- Hey, you're up. Sorry for touching your stuff I tryed to make some food before you wake up. Thanks for lending me your bed. I really needed that sleep hope I was not too heavy.

Blushing a bit when she seen Davies is awake she started to chat with him in hope she can hide her shyness.

"Well the last man who tucked me in was my dad. Susanne you must be stupid falling asleep in a tranger guys living room like this. I realy brought shame on me. At least now I know he's not some kind or sexual predator."

- No worries, you can take the bed for now. I'm fine on the couch. I didn't ask you this before but we should clean up a few things. I plan to spend a few days inside the flat till we find out what's going on in the world. What are your plans? You want to stay with me?

Susanne got surprised for a moment than after thinking about it she shyly answered him whyle trying to awoid eye contact.

- If you don't mind me leeching off your food than I would like to stay.

- You don't have to worry about it. I need the company anyways and you seem trustable so I hope we will get along in the future. Welcome on board Susanne.

Davies pulled out his most sincere smile while feeling happy inside that he got a hot and nice girl at his side at the end of civilization.

- Thanks. I too hope we will get along. You can call me Suze. Only my parents and strangers call me Susanne.

- All right. Than Suze it is. Tomorrow is sunday, wednesday I plan to go outside and scout the corridor. Till than we should stay inside and wait for help. If nobody comes till wednesday than we can say certainly that nobody is going to come before we run out of food, so we will have to take things in our hands. I will leave you with the shotgun before I go outside. But we can talk out things till than.

" Davies thought about how should he tell her that he needs to go out to gather energy. So he decided to tell her its for gathering food."

* That is too long. I'm in the process of growing my colony of workers and I need more energy. You should go out sooner so I can gather enough energy. The first few days now is going to be crucial. Before my siblings grew too strong we need to absorb as many as we can. *

" Your siblings? So the infected is like that because there are nanobots inside of them?"

* Exactly. Their host was not compatible and damaged my siblings intelligence. By now every living organism should be a host of my kind. Some of them failed the symbiosis and because of that they evolved in a wrong way turning into unintelligent beings that only think about absorbing more energy. Because they can't absorb energy from the air they need to eat other nanobots and absorb energy trough the digestive system. You need to understand those you call infected are not humans anymore and would never be humans again. Only my kinds basic instincts drives them, the hunger for energy. *

" Can they grow stronger?"

* Yes they can and they will turn stronger. But not in a sophisticated way like I would try to evolve our body. *

" My body."

* Ours. Everything will be shared between us. I share the energy I gather with you and you share your body with me. So it is ours. You need to hurry up and start hunting. We need to grow stronger so others can't hunt is down. *

" Not so easy. A single bite from them and we are done."

*You don't have to worry. With your last kill I gathered enough energy to be able to repell the failed nanobots that would try to invade your body. For the next two days you are safe from their blood.And I can also rapidly heal up the damage if you kill one more so you only need to go on a rampage and kill as many as you can. I also turn off your pain receptors so don't hold back anything. *

Davies immediately decided that he will leave and go outside after eating and sending Suze off to sleep.

After they ate he told her to catch a sleep and they should sleep in shifts from now on so there is someone awake at all times. If help arrives they should be up to know about it.

After Suze went to sleep Davies closed the door placing the shotgun on his back with a few slugs in his pocket he grabbed the knife and went to the old man's place. Opening the door and peeking outside the corridor was empty. After closing the door behind him he started to check up every door on this corridor. There was 2 more flats on the right side of his flat both closed, so he decided to go downstairs first. When he reached the staircase he stopped and hold back his breathing. On the stairs there was an infected man facing the bottom of the staircase. Davies slowly walked behind him and after he lifted the knife above his head he slammed it down with both hands with full power.

The infected died without knowing what happened. The knife slid down on his skull uppening up a bloody gorge on the back side of its head ending up handle deep inside its neck separating its spine.

" Damn even with raised strength if I don't aim at the right place it's still hard to puncture a skull. I hope will get better at this."

* Energy absorbed. Placing 1 point on strength and 1 point on dexterity. Is that fine with you? *

" Yeah sounds good."

Feeling the hot wave go across his body he could feel his shirt got even more tight.

After pulling out the knife with a strong jerk the body tilted to the side and started to roll down loudly.

" Damn!"

Before it even reached the bottom turning corner of the stairs he could already hear someone rushing up the stairs from the floor under him.

A women turned the corner fixing her bloody eyes on him. She was a small built middle aged woman with a skirt that was once white but now mostly sporting a bloody red and pinkish color.

With spittle flying all over she started to rush up. Davies lifted his leg and slammed his foot inside her face when she reached close enough. Rushing after the woman while she was rolling down the stairs he put his foot on her back after it stopped on at the bottom of the stairs he pushed the knife inside her head slowly but accurately.

* Energy absorbed placing two point on strength. Is that all right with you? *

" What you say."

Feeling the adrenaline he started to get more and more confident. Strength was rushing through his body like he's on steroids, he stepped over the two body after searching them for keys he walked down to the second floor. When he got there he could see two infected walked out from a flats door looking right at him.

Davies started to backpedal after they started to run towards him. He only stopped at the staircase turning point and waited for them to reach here. When they got here growling like some wild dog he kicked one of them and stabbed the other one. The knife ended up inside his neck missing the head but it still ended up killing the infected. Trying to pull out the knife the other one was already coming back up again. The moment he pulled it out he slid the knife over the other infected's neck cutting his trouth. Hot blood sprayed all over him painting him bloodred.

* Energy absorbed. Placing 3 points on stamina and 1 point on strength. "
